Appeals Court Shields Don Lemon from Federal Arrest

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) A federal appeals court on Friday shielded former CNN anchor–turned–YouTuber Don Lemon and four other individuals for their alleged roles in the anti-ICE riot inside Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The three-judge panel from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit rejected an emergency request by the Department of Justice seeking to overturn a lower court’s refusal to authorize Lemon’s arrest.

The panel, formed by Obama appointee Jane Kelly and Trump appointees Steven Grasz and Jonathan Kobes, ruled that the DOJ had not exhausted other available legal options, including seeking a grand jury indictment.

In a concurring opinion, Grasz said the DOJ had “clearly” established “probable cause for all five arrest warrants,” but faulted the government for failing “to establish that it has no other adequate means of obtaining the requested relief.”

The appeals court decision followed an earlier ruling by U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas Micko, who approved arrest warrants for three defendants, Nekima Levy Armstrong, Chauntyll Louisa Allen and William Kelly, over their involvement in the protest.

Micko declined to authorize arrest warrants for Lemon and eight other individuals tied to the incident.

The DOJ has since hinted that it may no longer seek a federal judge’s signature to arrest Lemon, according to reporting by the New York Post.

The demonstration began on Jan. 18 inside Cities Church after anti-ICE activists claimed that one of the church’s pastors also served as the acting director of an ICE field office in Minnesota.

FBI Investigating Groups Funding Anti-ICE Violence in Minnesota

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) FBI Director Kash Patel announced Monday that investigators have identified groups and individuals allegedly financing violent anti-ICE protests in Minnesota.

Speaking with podcast host Benny Johnson, Patel did not name the groups but emphasized that the unrest is not “happening organically” and pledged further action.

“This is not something that just happened overnight,” Patel said of the riots, adding: “We’ve got investigations ongoing into the funding of this. We’ve made actual substantial progress. I just can’t publicize it yet. But we’ve actually found groups and individuals responsible for funding it because it’s not happening organically.”

Patel said some protests have escalated into rioting, with agitators “destroying federal vehicles, ramming federal agents, literally hitting them, striking them.”

He appeared to reference the anti-ICE demonstration inside Cities Church in St. Paul, where roughly 200 individuals disrupted a Sunday service after claiming one of the church’s pastors serves as an acting ICE director in Minnesota.

Johnson noted that independent reporting suggests some anti-ICE groups have identified license plates and targeted federal agents in the state.

Asked about the legality of those actions, Patel replied, “That’s exactly what we’re investigating.”

Patel’s comments come on the heels of Republican condemnation of the ongoing crisis in Minnesota, which has been fueled by anti-ICE agitators.

Biden DOJ Conveniently Let Ilhan Omar Probe Fade Before Trump

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Rep. Ilhan Omar’s finances were controversial enough to trigger federal scrutiny under the Biden administration, according to recent reporting.

Omar, D-Minn., was previously investigated as part of a federal probe into her campaign spending and interactions with a foreign national, the New York Times reported Monday.

The investigation, launched by the Biden-era U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, “stalled for lack of evidence,” according to anonymous sources cited by the paper.

Notably, the Times described its sources only as “people familiar with the matter,” without specifying whether they were government officials or directly involved in the investigation.

The report’s timing seemed to portray Omar as already cleared, potentially preventing scrutiny by presenting the issue as resolved before any new investigation could begin.

The story’s publication came just hours after President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the Department of Justice was “looking” at Omar.

Trump did not outline the inquiry’s scope but pointed to her personal wealth, asserting she was “worth more than $44 million.”

“Time will tell,” Trump wrote.

Trump’s remarks followed congressional financial disclosures showing that Omar and her husband had accumulated multimillion-dollar financial interests.

Omar previously dismissed questions about her wealth in a TikTok video posted in September, pointing users to the “income earned” sections of her disclosures.

Those filings showed she reported between $1,000 and $15,000 in income from a winery business valued between $1 million and $5 million.

Omar also disclosed her husband’s stake in Rose Lake Capital valued between $5 million and $25 million, while claiming zero income from that investment.

Meanwhile, the leftist lawmaker brushed off Trump’s comments in an X post: “Sorry, Trump, your support is collapsing and you’re panicking. Right on cue, you’re deflecting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me. Years of ‘investigations’ have found nothing. Get your goons out of Minnesota.”

How To Ban Pride Flags in Public Schools

(Beth Scaer, Special to Headline USA) Paul Menard has taught at Nashua High School North for more than 20 years and currently teaches AP [Advanced Placement] Psychology.

In 2021, he orchestrated the display of LGBTQ+ posters at Nashua High North underneath a large Pride Progress flag.

Each poster featured a flag for a sexual orientation or gender identity, accompanied by a description.

There were flags for gay, bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, polyamorous, nonbinary, transgender, lesbian, aromantic, sapphic, demisexual, achillean, xenogender, genderfluid, agender, asexual, demiromantic, and aroace as well as posters titled “What is Sexuality?” and “What is Gender?”

The latter promoted the idea that if students don’t feel comfortable with their biological sex, they can make body modifications to match their “gender.”

From Paul Menard’s email to Principal Nathan Burns and Student Activities Coordinator MaryJean Flanagan on May 11, 2021:

The idea is to make 12-15 small posters explaining the different gender and sexual orientation flags and hang them in a main hallway. Each poster would be no bigger than 11×17 and would contain an image and description of one of the flags associated with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The SAGA group would host an informative ‘walk’ around the area contributing additional information one afternoon to anyone interested. Otherwise, the posters would hang in the hall and people could visit and educate themselves at their leisure.

Heres’ the fundraising part of it. We would sell, for a dollar, a card that says, “I’m proud to be ___” and people could write what they identify as, and we’ll hang it on the wall outside the cafeteria near the pride flag. This would be a very visible way to bring members of our hidden community out without exposing anyone because the cards would be anonymous.

Paul Menard was promoting polyamory to teens at a public high school, as well as xenogender and genderfluid gender identities, and many other unpleasant and inappropriate sexual things with these flags.

Not coincidentally, Paul Menard is also a big fan of teaching Critical Race Theory. He is one of three Nashua teachers who signed a pledge to continue teaching it despite a New Hampshire law banning it.

Nashua High North Principal Nathan Burns approved those posters, as well as the large Pride Progress flag, which hangs to this day in the school lobby where everyone has to pass by it.

[EDITOR’S NOTE: The tools below developed by Beth Scaer and other New Hampshire activists could easily be adapted to fight wokeness in public schools in any state.]

Fortunately, we have two New Hampshire bills that would ban Pride flags from schools.

HB1132prohibiting the display of certain flags in public schools and public charter schools and establishing penalties for the display of prohibited flags

HB1345requiring schools to establish rules related to the display of flags and designate students at each school to serve as the school’s color guard

Both of these bills have public hearings on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 28. You can testify in person in support of these bills or submit your testimony to the House Education Policy and Administration committee.

To submit testimony onlineclick here and select Wednesday 01/28/26 as the date, then select the “House Education Policy and Administration” under committee selections, then select HB1345 at 1:30pm. You’ll have to repeat this process for HB1132 at 2pm. You can submit public testimony online until 11:59pm on the day of the hearing.

To submit testimony in person, follow the guide here and arrive early on Wednesday, 01/28/26 at 1 Granite Place, Concord, NH. Both hearings are taking place in room 232 (second floor). HB1345 is at 1:30pm and HB1132 is at 2pm.

Gay State Representative Sanctioned For Trump Penis Text

(Mark E. Johnson, Contributor) Missouri Democrat State Representative Jeremy Dean, who describes himself as a gay man, has lost his legislative committee assignments in the wake of a text suggesting that his Republican colleagues fellate President Donald Trump

Dean texted his gag-worthy message to a female legislator, Rep. Cecelie Williams:

“I’m surprised you guys can even talk with trumps d— shoved that far down all of your throats.”

Dean was reacting to a congressional redistricting plan backed by Trump and State House Republicans.

A House ethics investigation concluded that Dean’s vulgar text violated ethics rules and amounted to official misconduct. Lawmakers last week formally reprimanded the orally obsessed Dean, barring him from serving on House committees, ordering him to stay at least 50 feet away from Rep. Williams, and requiring he complete “sexual harassment training.”

The House vote to sanction Dean was 138-10, with all 10 “no” votes coming from his fellow Democrats.

According to reports, Dean may also have his seat in the legislative chamber moved to a back row and lose his reserved parking space near the capitol.

During the debate prior to the vote to sanction Dean, Williams said:

“We are held to a higher standard, one that should exceed any corporate or private workplace. Because, let us be honest, at any other job, a message like that would be grounds for immediate termination, no questions asked. We cannot excuse behavior in the Capitol that would never be tolerated anywhere else.”

The sex act described in Dean’s text is one he may have personal familiarity with. A photograph on his campaign website shows him holding hands with his so-called “fiancé,” who appears to be male. Also according to the website:

“Deeply engaged in civic life, Jeremy is serves [sic] as a board member for the a local LGBTQIA+ organization is an active member in several community betterment groups – collaborating on ways to strengthen the heart of the city he calls home.”

Border Patrol Shooting Leaves 1 in Critical Condition

(Headline USA) One person was shot and in critical condition Tuesday in a shooting involving the Border Patrol near the U.S.- Mexico border, authorities in Arizona said.

In response to an Associated Press request for details of the shooting, the FBI said it was “investigating an alleged assault on a federal officer” near Arivaca, Arizona, a community about 10 miles from the border. An FBI spokesperson did not immediately respond to an email and telephone call asking about how the alleged assault was related to the shooting.

The Santa Rita Fire District said it responded to the shooting and the person who was wounded was in custody.

“Patient care was transferred to a local medical helicopter for rapid transport to a regional trauma center,” the fire district said.

One level-one trauma center hospital in Tucson declined to release information, and the AP was waiting on a response from another.

The area is a common path for drug smugglers and migrants who illegally cross the border, so agents regularly patrol there.

The shooting involved a Border Patrol agent and a suspect, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department told the Arizona Daily Star. The department said it was working with federal authorities in response to the shooting.

Authorities released no information about the suspect. The shooting comes comes in a month that has seen three shootings — two fatal — by immigration officers involved in the massive Department of Homeland Security enforcement operation in Minnesota.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection did not immediately respond to emails and telephone calls seeking more information.

Crackdown in Minneapolis Underway Following Trump Talks With Walz, Frey

(Sarah Roderick-Fitch, The Center Square) A crackdown on protesters in Minneapolis appears to be underway following “good talks” President Donald Trump had with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

The crackdown came as Border Czar Tom Homan was set to arrive in the city amid growing tensions between anti-ICE protesters and federal immigration officials, leading to two deaths in recent weeks.

Trump has characterized the calls as being positive, while reiterating his administration’s demands that the city and state turn over criminal illegal aliens.

It’s unclear whether the calls prompted what appeared to be a crackdown by local law enforcement, clamping down on protesters congregating outside a hotel suspected of housing ICE officials.

However, the Department of Homeland Security posted a video on X showing law enforcement going after “rioters.”

“Local Minnesota Police arrested violent rioters last night. Glad to see some state and local government cooperation. It’s a start,” DHS posted.

Earlier on Monday, the president announced that Walz had reached out to him, requesting the two work together.

In Trump’s Truth Social post Monday announcing Homan’s impending arrival in Minneapolis, the president said the border czar would be reaching out to Walz in an effort to obtain “criminals that they have in their possession.”

“The Governor, very respectfully, understood that, and I will be speaking to him in the near future. He was happy that Tom Homan was going to Minnesota,” the president posted.

During a press briefing at the White House Monday afternoon, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt expanded on the Trump administration’s demands for Walz and Frey.

Leavitt said the White House is demanding that the Democratic leaders “turn over all criminal illegal aliens currently incarcerated in their prisons and jails,” in addition to “any illegal aliens with active warrants or known criminal history of immediate deportation.”

The second demand is that local and state law enforcement “must agree to turn over all illegal aliens who are arrested by local police.” The third calls on local law enforcement to assist federal authorities in “apprehending and detaining illegal aliens who are wanted for crimes.”

“If Governor Walz and Mayor Frey implement these commonsense cooperative measures that I would add have already been implemented in nearly every single other state across the country, Customs and Border Patrol will not be needed to support ICE on the ground in Minnesota. Ice and local law enforcement can peacefully work together, as they are effectively doing in so many other states and jurisdictions,” Leavitt said during the briefing.

Despite the good call between Trump and Walz, on Monday afternoon, the governor appeared to clap back at the White House’s claims that his state isn’t cooperating with federal immigration authorities in a commentary he penned in the Wall Street Journal, claiming his corrections department “honors all immigration detainers.”

Man Killed by ICE Was Already on the Feds’ Radar

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The man shot to death by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer on Saturday had been in a scuffle with ICE the week before, and was on their radar, according to CNN.

Citing unnamed sources, CNN reported Tuesday that the deceased man, Alex Pretti, confronted ICE last week after he saw officers “chasing what he described as a family on foot.” Pretti began shouting and blowing his whistle, an anonymous source told CNN.

“Pretti later told the source that five agents tackled him and one leaned on his back – an encounter that left him with a broken rib. The agents quickly released him at the scene,” CNN reported.

CNN also reported that ICE has been collecting the personal information of agitators and protesters who they encounter.

“Pretti’s name was known to federal agents, according to a source – though it’s unclear whether the new intake form was used to share his information,” CNN reported.

“It’s also not clear whether the federal agents who encountered Pretti on Saturday recognized him before they confronted him—eventually wrestling him to the ground, taking a gun from his waistband and then fatally shooting him.”

The Trump administration has claimed that ICE shot Pretti “defensively” he “approached” them with a gun.

Video footage clearly contradicts that claim.

Pretti was licensed to carry a concealed weapon, but he appears to be seen with only a phone in his hand in the videos. During the scuffle, agents discovered that he was carrying a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun and opened fire with several shots, including into his back—after he had already been disarmed.

Atlanta Paid $250k to Muslim Activists, Part of $1.7 Billion Fed Migrant Resettlement

(Johnny Edwards, The Center Square) The City of Atlanta paid more than $250,000 to a Chicago-based Muslim organization, which at the time was raising money for another group that’s been accused of aiding Hamas.

The Inner-City Muslim Action Network’s founding executive director is a Palestinian-American community activist earning a salary of $225,000, according to tax filings. During the period Atlanta paid the group, it staged a “Benefit Concert for Gaza” held in Chicago that raised money for another nonprofit called Anera. Anera has been flagged by two Israeli watchdogs for allegedly working alongside terrorists, which the nonprofit strongly denies.

“I think there are a lot of questions that need to be raised about any organization that’s operating in Gaza right now,” said Yona Schiffmiller, director of research for the Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor, which has issued warnings about Anera. “And there needs to be a lot more uncovered about the way the NGOs have operated in Gaza.”

According to city records, Atlanta’s payments to the Muslim network were to help migrants pouring through U.S. borders – part of a larger tranche of federal dollars paid out to a list of nonprofits “to stabilize families and individuals that are encountered by Department of Homeland Security.”

At the time, the federal government was still handing out massive bucks to local governments to shelter, feed, transport, and provide other services for “noncitizen migrants.” Before President Donald Trump took office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement began nationwide immigration sweeps, taxpayers shelled out out $1.72 billion to shelter and accommodate some of the same population now being targeted for removal.

The money flowed to local governments, who passed the money along to contractors and nonprofits. The Inner-City Muslim Action Network has a branch in Atlanta and became a beneficiary.

“It’s hard to make the case that there was some kind of long-term benefit for taxpayers,” said Jessica Vaughan, director of Policy Studies for the Center for Immigration Studies. “Because the people that benefitted don’t have a path to legal status, for the most part, and are now being expected to leave the country.”

According to city council records, Atlanta received at least $11.75 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency grants to accommodate “unhoused immigrants.”

The city’s online payment records show millions of dollars flowing to non-governmental organizations including the Hispanic Alliance ($2 million), Inspiritus ($1.9 million), International Rescue Committee ($838,000) and the Latin American Association ($283,500). None of those groups, nor the Inner-City Muslim Action Network, responded to interview requests from The Center Square seeking to know how the money was spent.

The Atlanta City Council approved two resolutions to fund the groups, both brought forward by Councilmember Andrea Boone. One of the resolutions said the city used a federal exception to bypass the regular competitive procurement process.

Boone told The Center Square money paid to the Inner-City Muslim Action Network went toward food and medical care.

Asked if any of the funds might have been used on the concert for Gaza, Boone said Monday, “I doubt that, but let’s try to find out,” explaining her search may take a few days.

Atlanta offers just one example of how the Biden administration threw money at the border crisis, and how that money wound up flowing to NGOs.

“My general impression was that there was not a lot of oversight,” Vaughan said, “that the program was created kind of with a sense of panic, and the numbers were so huge that the state and local governments were really scrambling to do something with these people and get them off the streets.”

The money came through FEMA – $715 million from a humanitarian subset of its Emergency Food and Shelter Program, which morphed into the Shelter and Services Program, racking up more than $1 billion.

Now, the federal government is spending exponentially more money to detain, deport and keep out unauthorized immigrants.

With the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Congress appropriated $170 billion over four years toward immigration enforcement, including $75 billion for ICE and $47 billion for border wall construction. ICE operations in Minnesota have sparked an organized resistance, with civil unrest, violence and deaths.

The Inner-City Muslim Action Network, or IMAN, expanded to Atlanta in 2016 and has a 10-unit apartment building just south of Interstate 20. Its scope of services includes health and wellness, arts and culture, social justice and transitional housing for men and women recently released from prison, according to its most recent Form 990.

The tax filing says Founding Executive Director Rami Nashashibi earns a salary of $225,000. Also earning six-figure salaries: its medical director, an associate medical director, a chief program director, a chief executive director, and a chief growth and strategy director.

When The Center Square called IMAN’s media line last week, a man answering the phone said Nashashibi was not available for an interview and suggested reaching out to the Atlanta branch. A TCS reporter visited that office, but a person inside the administration and communications office would not open her door. A message left wasn’t returned.

The organization did not offer any other officials to speak with The Center Square and did not respond to emailed questions.

IMAM was among 10 nonprofits chosen by city council to receive FEMA funds for unhoused immigrants, council records show. In October 2024 – at a point when Atlanta had already paid the nonprofit more than $54,000 – it staged a “Benefit Concert for Gaza” at the Ramova Theater in Chicago, headlined by the rapper Common. News accounts say tickets ranged from $35 to $125.

IMAN said concert proceeds went to two other nonprofits working in the Gaza Strip: World Central Kitchen and American Near East Refugee Aid, or Anera.

Anera has faced allegations by two Israeli groups, NGO Monitor and the Tel Aviv-based Shurat HaDin, of coordinating with and assisting Hamas.

In 2017, the Shurat HaDin law center called on then-U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to cut the tens of million of dollars in USAID money going to Anera, accusing the group of helping to build a mosque used to recruit terrorists and a kindergarten used to indoctrinate children.

As recently as last year, NGO Monitor accused Anera of working with Gaza’s Ministry of Social Development, run by a high-ranking Hamas official, to open shelters and launch a women’s empowerment program. In 2024, the Ministry was headed by Ghazi Hamad, designated a “senior Hamas official” by the U.S. Treasury Department.

Asked if American donors or taxpayers should be concerned about money going to Anera, Schiffmiller advised an “abundance of caution.”

“What we’ve seen is that people have to be very careful about funding NGO activities in Gaza,” he said.

In a 2017 news release rebutting the Israeli law group’s letter to the State Department, Anera’s then-president said, “Anera rejects in the strongest possible terms the letter’s allegations of any complicity with terrorist organizations in Gaza or anywhere.” The statement said the kindergarten facility had received no material benefit, cash or goods from the group and that the legal center had mixed up the name of an organization it worked with in Jabalia, in the Gaza Strip.

The Washington-based nonprofit responded to The Center Square’s interview request with a written statement, saying NGO Monitor also mixed up two different organizations.

“The claims within these reports are simply erroneous and reflect a critical area of confusion surrounding aid in Gaza,” the statement emailed by Anera spokesman Steven Fake said. “There are two entirely separate Ministries of Social Development: one in Gaza and one in the West Bank. Anera does not and did not work with the Hamas-led Ministry of Social Development in Gaza. As part of our rigorous protocols, we do sometimes coordinate our lists of beneficiaries with the Ministry of Social Development in the West Bank, through their committee in Gaza – a process in which Hamas has no input or involvement.”

However, Schiffmiller, of NGO Monitor, said its reports linking Anera to Hamas are based on Hamas internal documents obtained by Israel Defense Forces.

Mountain Lion Sighting Triggers San Francisco Search

(Headline USA)  A young mountain lion spotted roaming the streets of San Francisco has been located near a park where wildlife officials are trying to capture it, authorities said Tuesday.

Authorities issued a warning to residents late Monday, saying a mountain lion had been seen walking the streets in the Pacific Heights neighborhood and advising people to slowly back away from the animal if they encountered it. They said Tuesday morning the wild feline had been located.

Animal Care and Control workers, San Francisco police officers and state wildlife officials were working in the area of Lafayette Park in Pacific Heights to capture the mountain lion safely, said Angela Yip, a spokesperson for Animal Care and Control.

Yip said there was no threat to the public but wouldn’t share the exact location of the animal, saying officials needed the public to stay away from the area.

The mountain lion was first spotted Monday morning by a San Francisco resident who took video of the animal and alerted authorities.

“It was so big … not just a regular cat,” Madrey Hilton told the San Francisco Chronicle. The lion, which “just looked like it was minding its own business,” scaled the wall and headed into Lafayette Park, she told the newspaper.

Mountain lion sightings are rare in San Francisco, where coyotes abound in the city’s many parks, but cougars have been spotted wandering city streets before.

In 2020, a young mountain lion was spotted sleeping in a planter box along a normally busy street and looking at his reflection in the glass of an office tower in downtown San Francisco. The animal was later safely captured and released into the wild.

Experts say the animals come up along the Pacific Coast from the hills south of the city, but eventually find their way back to the wilderness.
