Tulsi Gabbard Slams ‘Associated Propaganda’ for ‘Exploiting’ Blacks to Push Political Agenda

(Corine Gatti, Headline USA) Former Hawaii Democrat congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard was outraged after an Associated Press reporter wrote a story that appeared to exploit the recent racially motivated mass shooting in Jacksonville, Florida. Gabbard called the article “offensive” and “egregious,” and took a dig at the Associated Press by renaming it the “Associated Propaganda.”

The article Gabbard referenced was “Florida Governor Ron DeSantis faces Black leaders’ anger after racist killings in Jacksonville” on how DeSantis dismissed an “all-out attack” on black Americans and the NAACP’s concerns, and now faced the consequences of a racially motivated shooting in Jacksonville where three black people were killed by a white gunman.

“Ron DeSantis scoffed when the NAACP issued a travel advisory this spring warning black people to use ‘extreme care’ if traveling to Florida,” the writer of the article tweeted.

Gabbard slammed the Associated Press for its fake news bias and alignment with the “Democrat elite” in the wake of a tragic shooting at a Dollar Tree store in Jacksonville. Despite efforts by Democrat politicians and mainstream media to use the tragedy to push for more gun control, County Sheriff TK Waters said the blame was with the individual, not the weapon used.

“I know you remember as well as I do back when the AP was a trusted news source that would objectively just report the news, just report information, Gabbard told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Tuesday. “Seeing how they’re inserting their political bias in political narrative, writing pieces that sound a lot more like opinion pieces than they do just actually reporting the news.”

Gabbard expressed further frustration with those in the media who disregard the needs and intelligence of the American people. She highlighted the importance of providing information and facts and allowing individuals to draw their own conclusions.

“They disrespect us and our intelligence by assuming that they can just feed us whatever propaganda they want. We’re just going to soak it up,” Gabbard added. “We’re not that stupid.”

Last year, Gabbard left the Democrat Party due to reasons like elitism, pro-war stance, hostility towards people of faith, and racialization of every issue. She urged others to do the same.

Trump’s Truth Social Faces Key Merger Vote Reportedly to Remain Viable

(Robert Jonathan, Headline USA) The continued viability of Truth Social may or may not be hanging in the balance with a looming shareholder vote.

Trump Media & Technology Group, the Twitter rival’s parent company, and Digital World Acquisition Corp. are or were set to merge, but the deal announced back in October 2021 has yet to finalize.

The closing is now scheduled for Sept. 8, unless enough shareholders go along with a DWAC recommendation to vote on Tuesday to extend the deadline by another year.

If the merger ever happens, the new tech entity is reportedly projected to be valued at a range of $875 million to $1.7 billion. The deadline for the high-finance transaction to consummate has reportedly been extended five times already.

“If the vote fails, Digital World will be required by law to liquidate and return $300 million to its shareholders, leaving Trump’s company with nothing from the transaction,” the Washington Post reported on Sept. 2.

Digital World, which is a so-called special purpose acquisition company that enables the merged organization to go public, needs yes votes from slightly less than two-thirds of the shares owned by approximately 400,000 shareholders.

As a practical matter, getting the necessary votes may be problematic, the Post noted, given the SPAC’s unique composition.

“Digital World’s shareholder base is made up largely of small-time ‘retail’ investors, making it harder for the company to boost shareholder participation in critical votes. [Univ. of Florida finance professor Jay] Ritter said he suspects these investors, many of whom bought shares out of love for Trump or loyalty to his brand, may not be paying attention as the liquidation deadline approaches.”

About the merger, Ritter also opined that it has “been pretty much unprecedented in terms of all of the glitches. The deal does seem to be running out of time. You can’t just keep getting extensions forever.”

According to the Post, Digital World has allegedly encountered various issues with regulators including “an $18 million settlement to resolve charges that it had misled investors and given false information to the Securities and Exchange Commission.”

Trump Media has reportedly blamed SEC regulators in the Biden administration for the stalled deal.

The start-up company, whose CEO is former GOP Congressman Devin Nunes, has previously sued the Post for defamation in the context of the left-wing news outlet’s coverage of the pending merger.

Former President Donald Trump is still very active on Truth Social.

Ever the salesman, on August 28, he wrote that “I believe that Truth Social is the greatest &  ‘hottest’ form, system, & platform of communication in America, & indeed the world, today. That’s why I use it — there is nothing that comes even close!!!”

The Post elucidated, however, that “Trump, who would retain his 90 percent ownership of Trump Media if the deal falls apart, has yet to make mention of the shareholder vote on his own Truth Social account.”

The momentum behind Truth Social perhaps may have lessened once Elon Musk bought Twitter in the name of free speech.

Pursuant to a May 2022 SEC filing by DWAC, “President Trump is generally obligated to make any social media post on Truth Social and may not make the same post on another social media site for 6 hours. Thereafter, he is free to post on any site to which he has access.”

Perhaps in the best of circumstances, it would be challenging for any of Twitter’s less-established social media competitors to catch up, even with Trump on board.

Truth Social, for example, reportedly has about two million or less users as compared to an estimated 400 million or more on Twitter.

In November 2022, Musk reactivated Trump’s Twitter account, which has only sent out one post on the platform so far, the historic Fulton County mugshot.

Digital World’s share price is currently about $16, down from its peak of $175.

In an SEC filing dated July 14, 2023, DWAC explained, in part, that “If we liquidate, our public shareholders may only receive $10.24 per share, and our warrants will expire worthless.”

In the announcement of Tuesday’s special shareholder meeting, DWA CEO Eric Swider asserted the following:

“…Our SPAC is at a defining crossroads. The proposal to approve the Extension, giving us time to potentially complete the business combination with Trump Media & Technology Group Corp., isn’t just a formality; it’s a decision deeply rooted in our shared vision for freedom of speech, innovation, and growth.

He added that “As the Special Stockholders Meeting approaches, I earnestly urge each stockholder to cast their vote in favor of this extension. Every vote is essential for our ability to progress with the merger.”

Swider separately told the Post in statement that its latest report was “inaccurate or wildly misleading.”

A Trump Media spokeswoman also condemned the Post report as adding to “its heaping pile of bias.”

Mass. Leftists Unleash National Guard to Deal w/ Illegals Surge

(Corine Gatti, Headline USA) Democrat Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey activated the National Guard that transported the latest wave of Haitian asylum seekers to shelters across the state, while protests moved to a fever pitch under President Joe Biden’s failed border policies in the blue state.

“Massachusetts is in a state of emergency, and we need all hands-on deck to meet this moment and ensure families have access to safe shelter and basic services,” Healey said in a statement, failing to note it was  sanctuary city policies and Biden’s open border that delivered the emergency to the region.

The New York Post reported that while the National Guard has been brought in to alleviate the shortage of manpower, there’s little that the state can do to address the housing shortage. The only option available was to build new shelters, which was vehemently opposed by local residents.

Droves of protesters, including veterans, flashed signs during a rally Saturday that read, “Vets and Cape Homeless First!!” showed up at the Yarmouth Resort motel last weekend, where the state was expected to set aside 100 units for migrant families, many of whom include Haitian immigrants displaced by natural disasters, the Post noted.

The Left-Wing leaders of the state, like Healey, which supported open borders, scrambled to find shelters due to low resources.  “Right now, the non-profits that are in Massachusetts are stretched and so thin they cannot provide any more staff,” state Sen. Jamie Eldridge told CBS News.

The state created 1,500 temporary hotels, and new permanent shelters have been added statewide since 2022. The state’s Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities said in a statement, “The administration is exploring all options to expand family shelter capacity to meet rising demand.”

Notably, all sanctuary zones refused to cooperate with U.S. government immigration authorities, including states like Massachusetts, Illinois and New York that led to the currently crises. Meanwhile, Massachusetts joined other Democrat-run states, which supported open borders, and cried foul after immigrants infiltrated cities like New York.

Last week, over 400 people protested in Staten Island of a shuttered Catholic school into a 300-bed makeshift shelter. Scores of migrants were left stranded outside the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown last month, after an unexpected surge of illegal immigrants arrived in Manhattan.

With no available beds inside the hotel, the area surrounding the processing center quickly turned into a makeshift shelter for those who had nowhere else to go.  In Chicago’s South Side, residents slammed local leaders during a community forum for setting up a hotel shelter to care for illegal immigrants pouring into the city because of the Left’s pro-open border policies.

U.S. Nazi Group Endorses Joe Biden for President

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) A group of neo-Nazis called the Blood Tribe endorsed Joe Biden for U.S. President at an attention-grabbing public demonstration in Florida on Saturday, praising Biden’s support for their ideological brethren in Ukraine.

The group’s leader, Christopher Pohlhaus, voiced his endorsement of Biden in response to a question from a reporter about who he’ll support in the 2024 presidential election.

“I think Biden’s better than Trump because he sends rockets to Ukraine,” the Nazi said. “Heil Ukraine! Heil Azov!”

Behind him, fellow Blood Tribe member Kent McClellan shouted, “Slava Ukraini!”

Other Nazis expressed support for floundering GOP hopeful Ron DeSantis. After initially signaling that he wouldn’t continue aid to Ukraine, DeSantis has since backtracked.

Pohlhaus’s response seemed to take reports aback. But it should come as no surprise for those who’ve been paying attention to Biden’s widely documented support for anti-Russian Nazi groups such as the Azov Battalion, the Right Sector, C14 and the pro-Ukraine Russian Volunteer Corps.

McClellan, who goes by the nickname “Bone Face,” has also claimed to have fought with the Azov Battalion against Russia.

And as Headline USA has reported, Pohlhaus is building a compound in Maine with the intent to train Nazis to fight in Ukraine.

According to The Intercept, Pohlhaus has ties to notorious neo-Nazi Denis Kapustin, the leader of the pro-Ukraine Russian Volunteer Corps.

Kapustin and the Russian Volunteer Corps have used U.S. equipment this year to execute terrorist attacks in Russian territory. The pro-Ukraine militia regularly calls for international volunteers to join its group, and Pohlhaus seems obliged.

“We see the glorious opportunity in this conflict,” he reportedly said earlier this year. “Because the American military is staying out of it, we get the chance to participate [under] OUR banner.”

Pohlhaus’s comments also come at a time with Ukraine President Vlodymyr Zelenskyy is forging closer ties with his country’s neo-Nazi elements. Zelenskyy recently met with Azov Battalion leader Andriy Biletsky, who has pledged to “lead the white races of the world in a final crusade…against Semite-led Untermenschen.”

Pohlhaus has said it will take “a couple years” before his Blood Tribe is ready for war.

“It will take us some time to get the plan sorted but it shouldn’t take us longer than a couple years,” he said earlier this year.

However, thinkers sympathetic to the Ukrainian far-right have cautioned people like Pouhlaus from fighting for NATO and the U.S. global liberal empire.

The far-right thinker who goes by the name “Bronze Age Pervert” cautioned that fighting for Ukraine will only empower the far right’s enemies.

“The argument being made is this will wake up Europe so it will be strong and manly again … It’s all lies,” he said.

“You will at most get your foot blown off or obliterated by a Russian cruise missile. You’ll never see the thanks for it,” he said.

“You’ll be called fascist and privileged still, and the people who hate you will be enhanced in their power and security.”

Nearly 1.6 million ‘Gotaways’ in U.S. Since January 2021

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) Among the more than 8.6 million people who’ve illegally entered the U.S. since President Joe Biden took office, at least nearly 1.6 million are “gotaways.”

Gotaways is the official term used by Border Patrol agents to describe foreign nationals who illegally enter the U.S. between ports of entry and don’t return to Mexico or Canada.

They don’t file asylum or other immigration-related claims – they intentionally illegally enter to avoid being caught. Many have criminal records. They often run when they are pursued by Border Patrol agents or others in law enforcement, authorities tell The Center Square. They do not want to be caught.

The majority of gotaways are single, military age men. However, they also include women and children, many who are smuggled, law enforcement officers say.

Gotaway data represents the best guess of agents who report the number of people they believe to be gotaways, agents have explained to The Center Square. Agents report gotaways based on images of people caught on cameras set up by Border Patrol, ranchers or private property owners. Agents also report gotaways after they “cut sign,” a term agents use to track people in the brush.

They look for shoe or boot marks or areas wiped clean to hide them, broken limbs of trees or bushes, garbage and clothes left on the ground, among other signs to determine how many people might have come through. Based on this and other factors, agents report who and how many they believe are “known, reported gotaways.”

The data is considered a “best estimate,” agents have explained to The Center Square. It doesn’t adequately portray how many foreign nationals illegally enter because they simply don’t know how many there are. The data excludes the unknown number coming through who are undetected, and therefore, aren’t reported.

The Center Square has been reporting preliminary gotaway data every month received from a Border Patrol agent who accesses an internal U.S. Border Patrol database. The preliminary data excludes Office of Field Operation data. The agent provides the data on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal.

Because the data doesn’t include OFO data, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection releases its official apprehension data, usually two weeks after The Center Square reports preliminary data, the total is always higher because it includes the OFO data. CBP does not publicly report gotaway data.

Even the preliminary data, though, is an estimate because it goes through a “reconciliation” process, meaning it’s changed by a sector chief, a Border Patrol agent told The Center Square. After agents report their findings, for a range of reasons, sector chiefs change them, and in some Texas sectors, the agent said, gotaway numbers don’t make sense. Some sectors are reporting significantly lower gotaway data than they did previously but they still have a high volume of foot traffic.

Former Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz acknowledged the discrepancy with how gotaway data is reported when he testified before Congress, saying gotaway data is underreported by between 10% to 20%.

When adding 6,547,514 official CBP total national apprehensions and confirmed 1,454,805 gotaways from January 2021 through April 2023, previously reported by The Center Square, with additional three months of data the numbers are the highest they’ve been in U.S. history.

In May, more than 240,000 illegal border crossers were reported, including at least 60,327 gotaways. In June, at least 175,000 illegal border crossers were reported, including 50,000 gotaways. In July, at least 200,500 illegal border crossers were reported including 27,000 gotaways.

Combined, illegal border crossers reported since January 2021 total at least 8,617,819, greater than the estimated individual populations of 38 U.S. states. They total more than all U.S. cities with the exception of New York City, all U.S. counties with the exception of Los Angeles County, and the populations of over 120 countries.

In fiscal 2021, there were at least 308,655 known, reported gotaways. In fiscal 2022, 606,150; in fiscal 2023 at least 540,000 as of April, The Center Square has previously reported. Adding May, June and July numbers, they total at least 677,327.

Combined, known, reported gotaways total at least 1,592,132, greater than the individual populations of 11 states.

The video accompanying this article is a glimpse into what gotaways look like who were caught on camera primarily in Terrell County in the Big Bend Sector of Texas.

Border Patrol agents, law enforcement officers, Homeland Security – the agency tasked with defending the homeland – have no idea who or where these gotaways are. They also have no idea how many came through who weren’t captured on camera.

‘Cheap Labor’ Is the Most Expensive Labor of All

(John Tamny, RealClear Wire) The left-leaning imagine against all reason that businesses are out to exploit workers with low wages. The right-leaning disagree with the left rhetorically, all the while making the left’s case for them.

For evidence of this, consider the minimum wage. Lefties pursue legislative force to push the wage floor ever higher, while members of the right correctly disagree. The problem is that they then claim against all reason that wage floors cause businesses to automate. Both narratives presume businesses want to fleece workers. They’re both wrong.

Consider a recent analysis about China by the Washington Post’s Christian Shepherd. It’s no reach to guess which way Shepherd leans, but as the above hopefully supports, both sides believe what is nonsensical. Shepherd writes that Chinese authoritarian Xi Jinping hopes that China’s economy will “avoid the stagnation many emerging economies face when they run out of cheap labor.” Thankfully reality always intrudes on what economists, pundits and journalists imagine.

The simple truth is that low-wage workers are expensive. Wildly so. And it’s not just that turnover when it comes to low-paid workers is generally very high. The latter is a real problem, as is it a real problem that low-wage workers arguably don’t come to work with the same urgency that well-paid workers do.

Of course, the biggest problem with low-wage workers is paradoxically the low wages. The low pay obviously signals a lack of productivity on the part of the poorly compensated, which more broadly signals a lack of powerful economic growth. This is basic stuff, or should be. If the toil of individuals only rates low pay, then it must be that their toil isn’t very valuable.

But wait, Shepherd indicates that low wages are the stuff of growth. Well yes, that would be true if investors cared more about ripping off workers than achieving actual returns. The thing is that investors prefer returns, which means “exploitation” for them involves directing precious capital to the most productive workers possible.

Seemingly lost on Shepherd and his ideological opposites is that wages aren’t set by supply and demand, rather they’re a consequence of investment. Workers capable of productive economic activity are magnets for investment as the massive investment inflows into high-wage U.S. cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin and New York indicate. The booming economic growth of all four locales is a consequence of enterprising people, and enterprising people are magnets for the very investment that relentlessly pushes up wages.

All of which is logical. Just take a look at the most valuable U.S. businesses. And in thinking about them, just remind yourself that economies are just people, and businesses are just people. The most valuable U.S. businesses generally have some of the highest-compensated employees. The highly-compensated rate the pay because their productivity is the stuff of high returns for investors.

For Shepherd to then pretend that China’s economy will suffer the loss of the less productive from the workplace isn’t just silly, it’s backwards. More realistically, the disappearance of “cheap labor” from China is a sign that the people who comprise its economy are growing by leaps and bounds.

Which is a lesson for the right too. Automation would be the norm with or without wage floors, and it would be simply because workers are much more valuable (and better paid) the more that their work is married with productivity-enhancing machines. Again, they’re both wrong.

What the Back-to-School Adderall Shortage Really Tells Us

(Kerry McDonald, FEE) It’s back-to-school season and that’s prompting concerns about further shortages of medications to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Last fall, the US Food and Drug Administration declared a nationwide shortage of Adderall, a popular ADHD drug. That shortage is expected to worsen. According to CNBC: “Many children and young adults with ADHD often take the summer off medication and primarily rely on it during the school year. That could lead to even more demand in the months ahead that may not be met. Historically, prescriptions for ADHD medications increase as the school semester starts around the U.S.”

The CDC estimates that over 6 million children have been diagnosed with ADHD, and 60% of them are medicated for it. If many children don’t need their ADHD medication during summertime and then resume the use of these powerful psychotropic drugs at the start of the school year, that should send alarm bells ringing. Schooling is the problem.

Indeed, as Boston College psychology professor Dr. Peter Gray asserts: “What does it mean to have ADHD? Basically, it means failure to adapt to the conditions of standard schooling.”

In his research of children diagnosed with ADHD who left a conventional classroom for homeschooling and related unconventional learning environments, Gray found that their ADHD characteristics and behaviors ceased to be problematic and that most children no longer needed to be medicated. This was particularly true if these children learned in more self-directed educational environments that intentionally avoided the trappings of traditional schooling.

This topic is so important that I strongly recommend you listen to my podcast conversation today with Dal “Doc” Richardson, who founded BreakOut School in Utah County, Utah specifically for children with ADHD and related diagnoses. Richardson holds a doctorate in pharmacy and worked as a community pharmacist for 20 years before deciding to become an education entrepreneur. He was concerned about children—and especially boys—with ADHD being unable to flourish in a conventional classroom.

“The families that come to BreakOut School, many of them are just at their wits’ end,” said Richardson. “They find that this system has been trying to jam the square peg into that round hole and all they see are splinters occurring.”

Richardson founded BreakOut School in 2019 as an outdoor-based microschool, similar to a “forest school” model, that provides ample opportunities for unfettered movement and play, along with core academics. He has seen extraordinary results in his students—both academically and emotionally.

From an economic perspective, we should be concerned about the shortage of Adderall, which is likely due, at least in part, to various quotas imposed on manufacturers by the US Drug Enforcement Administration that regulates narcotics and controlled substances like Adderall. These shortages would likely not exist in a free market devoid of government meddling.

From an educational perspective, we should be even more concerned about the shortage of Adderall this back-to-school season. This signals that Adderall is being used to equip children to “adapt to the conditions of standard schooling” without questioning whether or not that’s a desirable goal. As Richardson told me, these drugs do work. Kids will conform and perform. But at what cost? What are we taking away from them when we force them to comply with the standard schooling mold?

I always trust parents first, and back them in their decisions regarding what is right for their children. But I hope that more parents who may have children with ADHD characteristics consider that standard schooling may be the real problem.

Fortunately, there are now so many more schooling alternatives for these parents to explore, including BreakOut School, which is a recognized, low-cost private school in Utah that participates in several Utah school choice programs, including the new Utah Fits All Scholarship. This recently-passed universal education savings account program provides each K-12 child in Utah with access to about $8,000 per year to use toward approved educational expenses, including microschools like BreakOut School whose tuition hovers right around that ESA amount. Today, more children have access to standard schooling substitutes than ever before.

Several years ago, I wrote about how Thomas Edison would have been given Adderall today. When he was eight years old, his teacher called him “addled” and by all accounts he was unable to adapt to the conditions of standard schooling. His mother found the “addled” label to be unacceptable. She removed young Thomas from school after only a few weeks and homeschooled him from then on using a largely self-directed approach. “She understood me; she let me follow my bent,” Edison recalled.

Years later, as Edison was securing his place as one of America’s greatest inventors with more than 1,000 US patents—including for the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and the incandescent light bulb—a chemist working in his massive New Jersey laboratory said: “Had Edison been formally schooled, he might not have had the audacity to create such impossible things…”

Today, as millions of children return to school—and some return to potent medications— it’s worth asking: Is standard schooling really worth it? Or, is there something better that will allow each child to follow his or her own bent and create those impossible things?

Does the FBI Already Have a File on Oliver Anthony? Probably

(Jon Miltimore, FEE) Oliver Anthony’s song “Rich Men North of Richmond” is the most talked about song in America.

Released just this month, the Virginia native’s blue-collar tune is already approaching 40 million views on YouTube and landed on top of Billboard’s Hot 100 on Tuesday, making Anthony the first musician in history to hit #1 with no previous chart history.

Though a clear hit with listeners, the song has come under attack in some quarters for its economic populism. Anthony takes aim at everything from inflation and high taxes to low wages and welfare.

Because of the song’s subject matter, I don’t think it’s unfair to describe Anthony’s song as politically charged, as some have. And though there’s no doubt that the song has resonated with people of all backgrounds, it’s hardly surprising that many journalists have attacked the song for this very reason.

What’s a bit more shocking is the possibility that Anthony’s heartfelt song and outspoken views may have resulted in unwanted attention from a different source: the FBI.

Edward Snowden, the famous whistleblower who blew the lid on the National Security Agency’s unlawful surveillance program, recently hinted that there’s a good chance the FBI has already opened a file on Anthony.

“After hitting topping the iTunes list and tweeting like this, the FBI will be making space for him another kind of list, too,” Snowden tweeted.  “Think I’m kidding? The FBI had a file on John Denver for attending *one* anti-war protest.”

Snowden is not mistaken about John Denver. The FBI actually did open a file on the beloved American folk singer, apparently after Denver attended a “Dump the War Rally” in Minnesota in 1971.

Indeed, the FBI has a long history of keeping files on famous people, particularly those seen as “agitators” or purveyors of “subversive” ideas.

In reality, most of these celebrities were guilty of little more than opposing US foreign policy and advocating civil rights for all Americans. Among those targeted by the FBI include icons such as Muhammad Ali, Truman Capote, Martin Luther King Jr., John Lennon and Jackie Robinson.

Ali and MLK apparently came under scrutiny because of their civil rights activities, while Lennon and Capote appear to have been targeted for opposing US military adventurism abroad, though Capote admitted private comments he made about J. Edgar Hoover’s sexuality may have also played a role.

“It got Hoover upset, that much I know,” said the In Cold Blood author, who supported the Fair Play for Cuba Committee and opposed the US invasion of Cuba (the Bay of Pigs). “And it got me…about 200 pages in an FBI file.”

In fact, Capote is just one of many literary giants to be investigated by the FBI. Other celebrated authors include James Baldwin, whom the FBI monitored for 16 years, and John Steinbeck.

“Do you suppose you could ask Edgar’s boys to stop stepping on my heels?” The Grapes of Wrath author wrote to Attorney General Francis Biddle in 1942. “They think I am an enemy alien. It is getting tiresome.”

Hollywood actors the FBI has opened files on include Lucille Ball, who once registered as a communist, and Rock Hudson, who appears to have come under scrutiny simply because he was gay.

We don’t of course know if the FBI has opened a file on Oliver Anthony. (The Bureau is not in the habit of announcing such news until after subjects are dead.) But one person who might not be surprised if he is, is Anthony himself, who has this to say about those men north of Richmond.

Lord knows they all just wanna have total control

Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do

And they don’t think you know, but I know that you do

Anthony might be right that the people he’s singing to know the powers in DC want to know what they think and do, but if he’s right, it invites a question: why do Americans tolerate it?

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that government agencies opening secret files on songwriters like Anthony and John Denver seems like something we’d expect more from the Stasi than the law enforcement of a free and liberal society.

Such clandestine and invasive activities invite important questions on the true role of government. Maybe it takes someone like Oliver Anthony to remind us what that role is.

Biden Pushed to Declare Burning Man Mud Orgy a Natural Disaster, Still Hasn’t Visited East Palestine

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) An annual pilgrimage of virtue signaling mixed with drugs, booze, kinky sex, climate alarmism and full-blown leftist angst devolved into a pit of horror and decadence when a freak storm turned the Burning Man festival into a muddied mess that has left at least one dead.

As social media accounts revealed the morass, President Joe Biden was briefed on the status of a large part of his climate alarmist base that was stuck in a mess of their own making in the middle of Black Rock Desert. The location, about 100 miles outside Reno, Nevada, was made even more dire with only one access road.

Events at this year’s Burning Man went downhill from the start, when a group of climate activists threatened the safety of festival-goers with a protest blockade that stalled traffic for miles in the desert sun. Nevada’s Tribal Rangers shut down the protest in epic style, ironically allowing the leftists in line to continue their trek to the festival that would turn into a mud pit.

Biden told reporters that he was aware of the situation at Burning Man, including the death, and said that the White House was in touch with local officials, an update that critics blasted as an insulting difference compared to Biden’s original snub reaction to the wildfires that ravaged Maui.

Nevada officials declared the festival site a natural disaster area and leftists were urging the Biden administration to declare the recovery a national disaster, a potential that lit up social media.

At the same time, Biden was ripped for still failing to find time in his busy vacation schedule to make a long-promised visit to East Palestine, the embattled Ohio town still reeling from a toxic train derailment earlier this year.

Tens of thousands of so-called Burners were still stranded Sunday in the debris field of trash, which in a twist of irony that didn’t go unnoticed could leave a nasty carbon footprint in its wake.

“Many people are abandoning their campsites and walking to the gate. In large numbers, this will leave a massive footprint that will not only be a cleanup nightmare, but could threaten the ability to hold future Burn events,” Daily Viral tweeted, while another account confirmed that assessment, also noting that “Most burners are leaving behind the camps and trash. Will be a big environmental cleanup crisis in the days to come.”

Zelensky Fires Defense Chief Set to Meet Biden Officials Amid Corruption Scandal

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA)  Ukraine’s descent into a quagmire of corruption reached new depths as President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the abrupt firing of Defense Minister Olesksii Reznikov

This startling move, coming in the wake of relentless allegations of graft and incompetence within the Ukrainian government, has raised serious concerns about the state of affairs in the country. Notably, Reznikov was scheduled to meet with the Pentagon later this week.

Zelensky attempted to portray the ousting of Reznikov as a mere restructuring effort. Critics, however, had demanded Reznikov’s firing since January, with many pointing fingers at his alleged involvement in the corruption scandals that have corroded the military’s spending.

“Oleksii Reznikov has gone through more than 550 days of full-scale war,” Zelensky said on Sunday night, according to the New York Times. “I believe that the ministry needs new approaches and other formats of interaction with both the military and society at large.”

Jake Sullivan, the White House national security adviser, met last week with Ukrainian officials to discuss the allegations of corruption. As reported by the Times, the defense minister’s firing caught the Biden regime by surprise as they had scheduled to meet the disgraced minister later this week.

Specifically, the Times reported, “As of Friday, Mr. Reznikov was scheduled to visit the Pentagon later this week to meet with Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III. The two men had regular contact and spoke ‘relatively frequently,’ according to a U.S. official who spoke on background as the news was breaking on Sunday.”

Ukraine’s prosecutors have been painstakingly investigating allegations of war profiteering, with disturbing revelations about inflated prices for military rations taking center stage. This scandal has exposed a shocking pattern of profligate spending and fiscal recklessness within the defense ministry.

The Times reported on Sunday that the defense ministry failed to fulfill contracts worth nearly $986 million, leaving Ukraine vulnerable as it faces a counteroffensive in the south and east of the country.

Similarly, the head of the Supreme Court was arrested in a bribery investigation earlier this year. An ousted deputy minister of economy faced a bail of $25,000 for allegedly embezzling foreign aid. Zelensky also fired his top intelligence officer and the state prosecutor
