Fed Files III: FBI Informant’s Phony ‘Obama’ Truck-Bomb Tip Spurred Federal Probe

In the first series of Headline USA’s investigative series, “Fed Files,” this publication reported on records that neo-Nazi inmate Bill White has been tortured in prison. Part three of this series examines White’s claim that he was tortured over a bogus tip from an FBI informant about an alleged bomb plot against Barack Obama.

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) It was a plot similar to the Oklahoma City bombing: neo-Nazi Bill White was said to have had plans in October 2008 to attack a Roanoke, Virginia federal building with a truck bomb in retaliation for legal proceedings taking place against him there.

Except this time, the “plot” was non-existent, coming from a dubious source in former FBI informant and convicted felon Hal Turner.

The U.S. Marshals investigated White over Turner’s tip and found no evidence, according to a previously unpublicized U.S. Marshals report in the “Fed Files”—a trove of FBI records and other documents filed from prison by White.

However, White claims to have been tortured over the incident. White further claims that agents interrogated him over planning to take out soon-to-be President Barack Obama with another truck bomb.

The evidence supporting White’s claims is incomplete, but it does corroborate certain parts of his story.

For instance, records show that in October 2008, White was being monitored by the FBI for threats against Obama while simultaneously being investigated by U.S. Marshals for his alleged plot to bomb a federal building—but there’s nothing to indicate that the investigations were related to each other. Records also show that White was tortured in prison in 2014, but Headline USA has not found clear proof that he was tortured in 2008.

The FBI and the Bureau of Prisons have both declined to comment about White’s allegations.

O-Bomb-a Plot?

According to an October 2008 FBI memo, the bureau was concerned that White was circulating a Nazi publication displaying a lewd threat against Obama. Meanwhile, U.S. Marshals were also investigating him in October 2008 for the supposed plot to attack a federal building.

Court records indicate that the Marshals’ investigation was based on a dubious tip from then-FBI informant Turner.

At the time, White was already under yet another, separate investigation for alleged threats against a juror in the trial of Matthew Hale—a white supremacist who solicited an FBI informant to murder a federal judge.

Hale was convicted of soliciting the murder, and White was eventually convicted for threatening the juror, too.

But before White was arrested, the U.S. Marshals were reportedly worried that he was about to attack the Poff Federal Building in Roanoke, where his grand jury had convened.

“Witnesses in the Roanoke Grand Jury investigation against White are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 14. White states that [REDACTED],” said a heavily redacted Oct. 13, 2008, Marshals report. “Additionally, he plans on driving the truck himself, stating that there is no way that he will be able to spend 40 years in prison.”

White was arrested days later on Oct. 17, 2008. A follow-up January 2009 report from the Marshals cleared White of the bomb plot accusations.

“There has not been further information regarding the original allegation that White actually made the threat,” the Marshals report said.

“Special Agent [REDACTED] executed a search warrant of White’s residence and other properties to include a seizure [REDACTED],” the memo said. “Those searchers did not yield information of a threat to the Poff Federal Building, federal judiciary, and/or Western Judicial District of Virginia grand jury personnel or proceedings.”

But before that January 2009 report was issued, White claims that investigators tortured him to get him to admit to the bomb plot. And he claims that investigators also tortured him over an alleged plot against Obama.

According to White, he was left in a freezing-cold cell from Nov. 7 to Nov. 12, 2008. Then, he was transferred to a cell “flooded with 1-inch of human feces” from Nov. 28-29, he claimed in an October 2020 sworn declaration.

After that, he was housed in a cell “overrun by hundreds of cockroaches” from Nov. 29 to Dec. 29, 2008, he said.

“Throughout this period, efforts were made by BOP staff to question me about an alleged plot to assassinate Barack Obama with a truck bomb,” White said in his sworn declaration, which he filed in support of an unsuccessful application for compassionate release.

“I was released from the MCC-Chicago SHU to general population December 29, 2008,” he added.

White has consistently told this same story over the years, including in a 2016 psychological report written by Dr. Eric Ostrov.

“[The FBI informant Hal] Turner went to these two guys and told them to set me up so he could get his informant contract back … they concocted a story that I [planned to] blow up Barack Obama with a truck bomb,” White told Dr. Ostrov in 2016, according to the doctor’s report.

White also told his attorneys about the torture in 2009 during his criminal proceedings. But his attorneys didn’t believe him at the time, according to White.

But then, in 2010, FBI informant Turner admitted in court that he told the feds about the phony federal building bomb plot. Turner had been arrested for inciting violence against three federal judges, and he was testifying in court that he was an important asset to the FBI.

“I told the U.S. Marshal Service about a problem in a courthouse down in Roanoke, Virginia. Got information that a guy named Bill White was building a truck bomb because he was going to get indicted down there,” Turner said in 2010, according to a transcript from his trial proceedings.

“There was a little credibility issue. The U.S. Marshal service didn’t know that I had been working on national security so long with the FBI, I guess I had to try to rebuild a credibility level with them,” Turner said.

Turner also said he informed the FBI about a plot against Obama—though this plot supposed to have taken place after Obama was elected, which would have been after White was already incarcerated.

“I got a call from a fellow … He was going to lob mortars from a mile away into Grant Park where thousands of men, women and children were there to see the man they had just elected president,” Turner said, according to the court transcript.

“Now, I do not like Barack Obama. I do not subscribe to his politics, and I was not happy that he won, but he won. Like it or not, he was going to be my president too,” said Turner, who had previously called for Obama’s assassination.

“I would not sit by and let some maniac lob mortars into Grant Park and kill that man. That is not the way that we do things here. I called Marshal Elcik. Marshal Elcik called the FBI,” he said.

When White learned of Turner’s testimony, he sought records from the U.S. Marshals about the bomb-plot investigation. But he didn’t receive those records until November 2020—long after his convictions had been upheld on multiple appeals.

According to White, if he had the U.S. Marshals records during his 2009 criminal proceedings, it would have convinced his lawyers that he was indeed tortured.

First of all, the U.S. Marshal records showed the U.S. Marshals closed their bomb-plot investigation by Jan. 9, 2009, “which shows that the U.S. [Marshals] closed their investigation shortly after the BOP stopped torturing me and demanding that I confess to this phony bomb plot,” White said in a sworn declaration.

Moreover, White noted that the U.S. Marshals records described him as having “sociopathic tendencies with a complete lack of empathy and/or sympathy for life.” This is further evidence that he was tortured “because it shows the utterly false dehumanization of me which the Department of Justice has engaged in to justify its cruel and unusual punishment of me,” he argued in his sworn declaration.

“Statements like that I am a sociopath with no empathy for human life very likely appear there, because it is these kinds of lies that make the kind of people who work in law enforcement feel important,” White added.

“These lies, in turn, result in the kinds of crimes that I have had committed against me while in custody. Why would someone not torture a sociopath with no regard for human life?”

Despite the new documents White discovered—and despite records proving that he was tortured in prison in 2014, if not 2008—his application for compassionate release was ultimately unsuccessful.

In denying White’s application, various judges have noted his history of allegedly making violent threats against public figures.

White does have two other lawsuits open for similar torture and retaliation allegations.

The former FBI informant Turner, who was convicted of making death threats against three judges in 2010 and released from prison in 2012, could not be reached for comment.

WaPo Comes Out Against Fetterman’s Sloppy Appearance on Senate Floor

(Headline USA) The Washington Post blasted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., in an editorial this week over the Democrat’s change to Senate rules, which allows senators to wear relaxed clothing on the chamber floor.

Schumer directed the chamber’s sergeant-at-arms not to uphold the Senate’s dress code for senators this week, saying “Senators are able to choose what they wear on the Senate floor. I will continue to wear a suit.”

The move comes after Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., who made sweatshirts and gym shorts his signature look on the campaign trail, was barred from entering the Senate chamber for being inappropriately dressed.

After the rule change, Fetterman presided over the Senate wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt.

Even the Post came out against the rule change, arguing Fetterman’s sloppy appearance was disrespectful to the governing body and the constituents he represents.

“We vote nay. Dressing formally conveys respect for the sanctity of the institution and for the real-world impact of the policies it advances,” the editorial said.

“Putting on a suit creates an occasion for lawmakers to reflect, just for a moment, on the special responsibilities with which the people have entrusted them and on a deliberative process that at least aspires to solemnity,” it added.

A top Senate Democrat also broke with Schumer and Fetterman, arguing the Senate has to have “standards.”

“The senator in question from Pennsylvania is a personal friend,” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. “But I think we need to have standards when it comes to what we’re wearing on the floor of the Senate, and we’re in the process of discussing that right now as to what those standards will be.”

Durbin added he plans to speak to Schumer about reinstating the dress code.

“I can’t understand exactly what [Schumer] was thinking at that point,” Durbin said. “I want to give him the benefit of the doubt until I speak to him, but I think the Senate needs to act on this.”

Yost Joins Court Fight over Social Media Free Speech

0

() Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost joined a court fight Wednesday with Missouri and Louisiana, which says the Biden administration is violating the First Amendment by censoring social-media content.

Yost filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court that argues against ending a U.S. District Court injunction stopping federal officials from pressuring social media platforms into deleting user content that the Constitution protects.

“The federal government doesn’t get to play referee on the field of public discourse,” Yost said. “If you let them decide what speech is OK, one day yours might not be.”

Yost said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the White House closely monitored social media platforms, flagging accounts and posts with dissenting views for the platforms to delete.

Officials also kept tabs on the platforms’ monitoring activities and pressured the companies to adopt permanent policy changes aligned with the federal government’s goals.

He said the U.S. surgeon general and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention took similar steps.

“The facts underlying this case reflect the federal government’s tendency to wield its power to target people and speech specially disfavored by those in power,” Yost wrote in his brief.

Missouri and Louisiana sued last year, arguing in Missouri v. Biden the federal government’s censorship of social media content violated the First Amendment.

As previously reported by the Center Square, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed, ruling against the federal government earlier this month, upholding an injunction granted by a U.S. District Court in Louisiana.

Judge Terry Doughty of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana ruled in Louisiana and Missouri v. Biden et al., ordering an injunction to stop Biden officials from pressuring social media companies to remove content deemed “misinformation.”

The federal appellate court backed that ruling, albeit more narrowly, pushing back on federal censorship by proxy.

“Social-media platforms’ content-moderation decisions must be theirs and theirs alone,” the court said.

Arizona Ports Fear Federal Border Policies Could Lead to ‘Another 9/11’

() Arizona’s border port authorities issued a joint resolution Monday emphasizing the need for border security to sustain economic growth in the region.

The resolution came from the Douglas International Port Authority, the Greater Nogales and Santa Cruz County Port Authority, and the Greater Yuma Port Authority, with specific ideas during their Board of Directors joint session in Tucson.

The group is asking for a “pilot program to promote local hiring of sworn officers” and other staff at ports of entry, as well as asking Customs and Border Protection to “streamline” its recruitment process, according to the resolution.

In addition, infrastructure is a priority for the group. They are calling on the federal government to “create a priority funding program” for projects along the border in order to foster “safe and efficient operation” at ports of entry.

Arizona’s border port authorities are joining a chorus of voices that are pressuring the federal government to take more stringent action at the border. This comes as the Department of Homeland Security issued a directive to close some lanes at ports of entry to enable more CBP authorities to assist Border Patrol efforts.

Jaime Chamberlain, chairman of the Greater Nogales Santa Cruz County Port Authority, wrote in a letter on Sept. 15 to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that the lower-than-needed presence at certain posts from federal authorities is a national security risk.

“Mr. Secretary, we request the immediate repeal of this directive and return Customs personnel to the posts where they are most effective – the ports of entry,” Chamberlain wrote.

“We don’t want another 9/11 tragedy to occur because our ports are vulnerable and weak with low staffing numbers because of this directive to help Border Patrol,” he added. “Washington and DHS are doing a disservice to both organizations by not properly staffing or funding them to the best our abilities.”

Douglas Mayor Donald C. Huish wrote on Sept. 14 that the policy could have serious consequences for his city.

“The function of the port does not go away but this mandate forces our local CBP personnel to do their job with far fewer personnel,” he wrote.

“This is simply not sustainable yet the cost to Douglas and to our nation is unmeasurable,” he continued. “We request the immediate reversal of this policy and ask that CBP personnel remain where they are most productive and effective in protecting the homeland, facilitating the flow of trade, and enabling tourists to be welcomed into our community and our nation in a professional manner.”

Huish told the Center Square that wait times are now upwards of an hour and a half at the port of entry in Douglas.

Meanwhile, San Luis Mayor Nieves Riedel referred to the move to close lanes as “simply unacceptable.”

“For months we have been asking the administration to provide additional resources to the border to support efforts to handle, in a humane manner, the growing influx of migrants,” Riedel wrote on Sept. 15 to Mayorkas. “The radical solution of shutting down lanes at the ports of entry, that are essential to tourism, trade, and national security, is an irrational and irresponsible response to the situation.”

On the federal level, Congressman Juan Ciscomani addressed the staffing concerns in his message to the secretary on Sept. 13.

“Our CBP officers and agents on the front lines are doing all they are allowed to under your direction, but they are overburdened and under supported. You must do what’s necessary to stop the flow, and the current status-quo cannot stand,” he wrote.

Since the start of fiscal year 2023, there have been 273,876 migrant encounters in the Tucson sector of the border and 161,534 encounters in the Yuma sector, according to CBP data.

Poll: If Convicted Before Election, Trump Would Lose to Biden by 6 Points

(If former President Donald Trump were to be convicted of any of the four felony indictments he faces ahead of the 2024 election, he would lose to incumbent President Joe Biden, according to the result of a new poll.

Biden, 80, would win 45% to 39% against Trump, 77, if the former president gets convicted before next November’s election, according to a WPA Intelligence survey shared with the New York Post.

The poll shows Biden would get more independent votes if Trump is convicted.

In August, another poll showed that 48% of Republicans in Iowa said Trump should continue to campaign if sentenced to prison while 39% said he should drop out.

Trump has been leading polls for the Republican nomination.

Trump faces nearly 91 felony charges in four separate felony cases, two of which were filed by special counsel Jack Smith in federal court.

As the Center Square previously reported, while the four trials could complicate his campaign, not even convictions would disqualify Trump from the office he seeks.

Richard Hasen, professor of law and political science at the University of California, Los Angeles, previously told the Center Square that the U.S. Constitution does not prohibit felons from serving as president.

Hasen noted that some seek to disqualify Trump from running or serving arguing he is ineligible under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.

That section disqualifies any sworn officeholder who has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the United States. “But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability,” according to the U.S. Constitution.

If Trump wins the 2024 election and attempts to pardon himself, it would likely be challenged in the courts. Trump could not pardon himself from any state charges, Hasen said.

Federal acquittals are rare. In fiscal year 2022, 290 of 71,954 defendants in federal criminal cases, about 0.4%, went to trial and were acquitted, according to a Pew Research Center analysis.

‘Shout Your Abortion’ Posts Billboards Across Southern States

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) The Shout Your Abortion group posted six billboards across Interstate 55, which spans through five strongly pro-life states, hoping to indoctrinate females into thinking that abortion is good and push them to get one.

The interstate runs through Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois — among which only the last one is a pro-abortion state — the Washington Post reported.

Billboards like “God’s Plan Includes Abortion” and “Abortion Is Okay. You Are Loved” have been placed on the route going north toward Illinois, implying that a woman who lives in a southern pro-life state can go to that state and get an abortion there.

“We are so proud of these billboards. If you see one on I-55, take a pic and let us know. Good luck to everyone having an abortion today!” Shout Your Abortion wrote.

When speaking to the Post, Amelia Bonow, 38, the executive director of Shout Your Abortion, said that it “feels really good to think that we could have made somebody’s experience just a little bit easier” and that she “would love for [billboards] to be everywhere,” even though these billboards will be removed next week.

Bonow started the “Shout Your Abortion” movement in 2018 after she found out that the House of Representatives voted to defund Planned Parenthood, as she said in Oprah Winfrey’s magazine “Oprah” in July 2018.

“I opened Facebook and, without thinking, wrote, ‘Like a year ago, I had an abortion at Planned Parenthood… and I remember this experience with a nearly inexpressible level of gratitude.’ I hit Post 153 words later, and everything changed,” she said.

After seeing her Facebook post, Lindy West, Bonow’s friend, saw the opportunity to start another pro-abortion movement and asked Bonow whether it would be okay to use her post for that.

“With her permission, I ‘screengrabbed’ Amelia’s post and put it on Twitter, with a hashtag that seemingly wrote itself: Don’t whisper, #ShoutYourAbortion,” she wrote.

The movement was pushed by the infamously pro-abortion Hollywood, specifically by actresses Lizz Winstead and Sarah Silverman who promoted a “Stand Up for Shout Your Abortion” party in Los Angeles.

Not surprisingly, a 2018 study published in the British Journal of Psychiatry that examined roughly 160,000 women who got an abortion confirmed that women “who had undergone an abortion experienced an 81% increased risk of mental health problems and nearly 10% of the incidence of mental health problems was shown to be attributable to abortion.”

The REAL Motive for Ukraine? Eastern Europeans Find Biden ‘Sexy’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., has shed light on a series of emails that have raised eyebrows about President Joe Biden’s involvement in Ukraine

The first batch of emails, which are directly tied to Biden’s infamous pseudonyms, revealed a tighter connection between the then-vice president and Ukraine.

One of the most unsettling emails to emerge is from then-National Security Adviser Tony Blinken, who disturbingly labeled Biden as a “new Georgian sex symbol” in the wake of his 2009 visit to Ukraine, Politico reported on Thursday.

This explosive email was not only addressed to Biden himself but also to his sons, Beau and Hunter Biden, with the caption “Must-read email below.” The email went on to divulge that Georgian women had purportedly found Biden “undeniably sexy.”

The email’s contents could raise disturbing questions about whether Biden’s foreign policy decisions — which are the subject of a Republican-led impeachment inquiry — may have been influenced by an unexpected and controversial factor: his personal allure.

Another unsettling email, dating back to May 2016, was sent by Biden’s assistant to an alias identified as “Robert L. Peters.” This email served as a stark reminder of a meeting with former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who faced pressing demands from Biden to oust a prosecutor allegedly investigating his son’s company Burisma.

The House Oversight Committee warned that this is just the first batch of documents released to Chairman Comer.

“The National Archives has only produced 14 pages of what is expected to be thousands of pages if the Biden White House doesn’t try to withhold them from Congress,” a spokesperson told Politico on Thursday.

“It’s silly for anyone to try to draw conclusions from 14 pages of documents that the White House cleared to give to Congress, especially when it contains an email that opines on foreign nationals thinking Joe Biden is sexy,” the spokesperson added, likely in response to dubious reports from the legacy media that the emails do not show evidence of corruption.

“These are the emails Joe Biden wants Americans to see,” the spokesperson added, before concluding, “The Oversight Committee will continue to follow the money and evidence to hold President Biden accountable for his abuse of public office.”

Vaccinated Mothers Transmit mRNA to Their Babies Via Milk

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A new study of lactating women who took the COVID-19 vaccine revealed that “trace mRNA amounts were detected” up to 45 hours after vaccination in the breast milk of 10 women.

The results of the study contradicted one of the Big Pharma narratives that mRNA was safe for breastfeeding moms and their infants because it didn’t travel throughout the body.

“Our findings suggest that the COVID-19 vaccine mRNA administered to lactating mothers can spread systematically to breast milk in the first two days after maternal vaccination,” the study that was published in the October 2023 edition of the British medical journal Lancet said.

However, the first study that discovered traces of mRNA in breast milk was a JAMA study from 2022.

Despite the evidence, the authors of the paper said that they still think that vaccines are good, adding that “COVID-19 mRNA vaccines play a vital role in the fight against SARS-CoV-2 infection” and that they “believe breastfeeding post-vaccination is safe, especially 48 hours after vaccination.”

However, they also added that a “dialogue” between a breastfeeding mother and her doctor should “address the benefit/risk considerations of breastfeeding in the first two days after maternal mRNA vaccination.”

The journalists who’ve been opposing the COVID-19 vaccine, questioning the propaganda from the government and mass media and denouncing the censorship of Big Pharma opposition quickly responded to the study.

“The US government said it was safe for pregnant women to get the COVID-19 vaccine because the injected mRNA stayed in the arm and did not travel through the body. But now a new Lancet study, which found mRNA in breast milk, shows the government lied,” Michael Shellenberger wrote on Wednesday.

Another journalist, Jason Bassler, also reacted to the study.

“It turns out the ‘experts’ who told us [that] ‘the vaccine stays in the arm’ were wrong… I was ‘fact-checked’ for this and expect an apology,” he wrote.

In his PUBLIC Substack, Shellenberger posted some of the information from an article by Alex Gutentag on the Lancet study.

In the article, Gutentag pointed out that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, among many others, lied to the public by saying that the vaccine is safe both for pregnant women and already born babies who drink their mothers’ milk.

Biden Fuels Uproar w/ Amnesty for Nearly Half a Million Venezuelan Illegals

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Biden administration has once again extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to nearly 470,000 Venezuelan nationals living in the United States, igniting a firestorm of criticism.

The decision follows an unprecedented influx of foreigners into New York City and grants them special status and work permits.

Critics argue that this decision will have a detrimental impact on American workers and will further exacerbate the ongoing mayhem at the southern border.

Alejandro Mayorkas, the embattled DHS secretary, defended the decision claiming without evidence that some Venezuelans are unable to have a “safe return.” In a Thursday press statement, Mayorkas clarified that only those who arrived before July 31 would be eligible.

Despite Mayorkas’s assurances, border patrol officials are fed up with the move. Fox News journalist Bill Melugin reported on Thursday that immigration officials are confident the move will lure more Venezuelans to the already-chaotic southern border in the hope of a new TPS extension next year.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., took to Newsmax to voice his concerns. “We’ve completely lost control of the southern border and how smart do you have to be to figure out what will happen next,” Graham stated. “If you give 470,000 Venezuelans work permits, you’re going to get another million to come.”

Immigration expert Todd Bensman accused some Venezuelan immigrants of committing fraud to obtain legal protections, alleging that some had been living safely and gainfully employed in other countries. “Here is all anyone need know for why Venezuelans need no humanitarian protection,” he said on Twitter, before sharing a damning report alleging the fraud.

Journalist Sarah Fields chimed in, remarking, “Last night, America became 500,000 Venezuelans richer. … And now they can have all the benefits, compliments of YOUR tax dollars.”

The White House is now facing questions about whether the administration is taking adequate steps to address the causes of the immigration crisis and prevent further influxes of illegal aliens.

“Who’s talking to Venezuela about why these people are still coming?” Ed O’Keefe, a CBS correspondent, asked Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary. “Who’s talking to Panama about the Darién Gap and who’s allowing them to come in?” He added.

Kevin McCarthy Responds to GOP Threats to ‘Burn the Whole Place Down’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., issued a dire warning to fiscal Republicans who resisted a contentious defense bill that includes funding for scandal-plagued Ukraine, describing their opposition as an attempt to “burn the whole place down.”

Addressing reporters inside Capitol Hill, McCarthy voiced his concerns about his inability to pass the spending legislation.

“This is a whole new concept of individuals that just want to burn the whole place down. That doesn’t work,” McCarthy claimed.

The House speaker’s remarks came in the wake of a failed House vote related to a Pentagon funding bill, marking the third time he has struggled to pass his own proposal.

As reported by Newsweek, Republican leaders initially believed they had enough votes for the spending bill. The final tally proved otherwise, with 212 votes in favor and 216 against. Notably, six Republican lawmakers crossed the aisle to thwart the bill.

Among the dissenting voices, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., argued against funding contentious global conflicts, particularly the Russo-Ukrainian war.

“Our country is being invaded by the thousands every damn day and our Department of Defense does nothing,” the Georgia Republican posted on Twitter. “Our Defense bill should not fund our DOD for blood money for the Ukraine war, that’s why I’m a NO. What did we get out of Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan?”

Republicans who supported the bill expressed frustration at the party’s internal divisions. “This is painful,” Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark., told Politico on Thursday. “It gives me a headache. This is a very difficult series of missteps by our conference.”

Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, R-N.Y., echoed Womack’s remarks. “At this point, it seems like there are some people playing policy warfare, and I think we need to move our country forward,” he remarked. “We’re pretty frustrated.”
