Christian NBA Player Announces Basketball Shoes w/ Bible Verses

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A Christian NBA player Jonathan Isaac who became famous after he refused to kneel for the U.S. national anthem during the 2020 BLM insanity announced on Monday the arrival of “the first basketball sneaker with visible Bible verses.”

Isaac revealed in his announcement that the new signature shoe would be called “Judah 1.”

“Most people see the ‘Judah 1’ as an outlandish endeavor… shoot, when we first started, so did I. I was afraid that delivering a sneaker that represented our values without compromising style or performance was too tall a task. But here we are! The first basketball sneaker with visible Bible verses becomes available in Just 3 days!” Isaac said.

He also added that a person who wants to buy himself a pair would need to sign up at the link in his “bio” on Twitter to be notified as soon as the sneakers would be available.

“To live boldly means standing up for what you believe in,” Isaac said in the ad.

He then added that he wanted to “give people the freedom to wear their values on their feet.”

“Making a decision to be authentically you, no matter what anybody has to say about it, no matter what anybody thinks, no matter what you may face or come up against,” Isaac said.

After that, he described the show itself.

“This is the first basketball sneaker with a visible Bible verse on the outside. And I tried my best to come up with Bible verses that were important to me and spoke to my journey and spoke to who I am as an individual,” Isaac said, returning to his Christian message after that.

“Understanding that Christ is with me and I’m never alone gives me the strength to live boldly. I can’t wait to lace ’em up. And I’ll be saying to myself 2nd Corinthians 4:9. It says, ‘Persecuted but not abandoned. Struck down but not destroyed.’ And I’ll walk on that court,” he said.

Santos Won’t Seek Reelection after Scathing Ethics Report

(Headline USA) The House Ethics Committee in a scathing report Thursday said it had amassed “overwhelming evidence” of lawbreaking by Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., that has been sent to the Justice Department, concluding flatly that he “cannot be trusted” after a monthslong investigation into his conduct.

Shortly after the panel’s report was released, Santos blasted it in a tweet as a “disgusting politicized smear” but said he would not be seeking reelection to a second term.

He gave no indication, however, that he would step aside before his term ends, vowing to pursue his “conservative values in my remaining time in Congress.”

But a renewed effort to expel him from the House was quickly launched. The House could vote on his expulsion as soon as it returns from the Thanksgiving holiday later this month.

That may renew calls from Republicans that Democrats do the same for Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., the former chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who stepped down from that role after federal indictments on a litany of damning charges but remains in office.

Several Senate Democrats issued tepid, obligatory calls for him to resign but have not forcefully pursued the matter as yet.

The House ethics panel said that Santos—a freshman lawmaker and one of the first openly gay Republicans in Congress—knowingly caused his campaign committee to file false or incomplete reports with the Federal Election Commission, used campaign funds for personal purposes and violated the Ethics in Government Act concerning financial disclosure statements filed with the House.

“Representative Santos sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit,” an investigative subcommittee said in a 56-page report that the full committee unanimously adopted.

Raj Shah, a spokesman for House Speaker Mike Johnson, said that Johnson reviewed the report “and its very troubling findings.” Shah’s statement stopped short of any specific recommendation about punishment. Before an earlier expulsion vote, Johnson said Santos was entitled to due process and voted no.

“As members from both parties, members of the Ethics Committee and Representative Santos return to Congress after the Thanksgiving break, Speaker Johnson encourages all involved to consider the best interests of the institution as this matter is addressed further,” Shah said.

The report also detailed Santos’s lack of cooperation with its investigation and said he “evaded” straightforward requests for information. “Particularly troubling was Representative Santos’ lack of candor during the investigation itself,” the committee determined.

The panel tasked with investigating the allegations against Santos provided him the chance to submit a signed, written statement, provide documents responsive to the panel’s request for information and to provide a statement under oath. But he did not do so, the report said.

The information that he did provide, according to the committee, “included material misstatements that further advanced falsehoods he made during his 2022 campaign.”

The committee’s investigative panel said that without Santos’s cooperation, it was unable to verify whether some expenses reported by his campaign were legitimate. But certain expenses on their face did not appear to have a campaign nexus.

For example, it cited $2,281 spent at resorts in Atlantic City and $1,400 spent at a skin spa for what one spreadsheet described as “Botox.”

The panel also identified a $3,332 expense for a hotel stay, though the campaign’s calendar indicated he was “off at the Hampton’s for the weekend.”

Additionally, there were tax and hotel charges on the campaign credit card from Las Vegas, during a time Santos told his campaign staff he was on his honeymoon and there were no corresponding campaign events on the calendar.

The investigation also looked into at least $200,000 that was transferred from a Florida-based company, RedStone Strategies LLC, to Santos’s personal bank accounts.

The report said at least three people transferred money to RedStone after being told the money would be used for political purposes but the funds were transferred to Santos’s personal accounts.

Santos used some of that money to pay down credit card bills, make a $4,128 purchase at high-end retailer Hermes, and for smaller purchases at OnlyFans, an adult content website, Sephora and meals and parking, investigators said.

The Ethics Committee determined that Santos’s conduct “warrants public condemnation, is beneath the dignity of the office, and has brought severe discredit upon the House.”

The findings by the investigative panel may be the least of Santos’s worries. The congressman faces a 23-count federal indictment that alleges he stole the identities of campaign donors and then used their credit cards to make tens of thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges.

Federal prosecutors say Santos, who has pleaded not guilty, wired some of the money to his personal bank account and used the rest to pad his campaign coffers.

Santos, who represents parts of Queens and Long Island, is also accused of falsely reporting to the Federal Election Commission that he had loaned his campaign $500,000 when he actually hadn’t given anything and had less than $8,000 in the bank.

The fake loan was an attempt to convince Republican Party officials that he was a serious candidate, worth their financial support, the indictment says.

The Justice Department declined to comment about the ethics report, as did the Brooklyn U.S. attorney’s office, which is handling the case against Santos.

Earlier this week, a former fundraiser for Santos pleaded guilty to a federal wire fraud charge, admitting he impersonated a high-ranking congressional aide while raising campaign cash for the embattled New York Republican.

Santos easily survived a vote earlier this month to expel him from the House as most Republicans and 31 Democrats opted to withhold punishment while both his criminal trial and the Ethics Committee investigation continued. But the committee’s report could prove to be a game-changer.

Rep. Susan Wild, for example, the ranking Democrat on the Ethics Committee, said she was no longer obligated to maintain neutrality because the committee’s work is now complete.

“I intend to vote yes on any privileged expulsion resolution that is brought forward,” Wild said.

Rep. Jeff Jackson of North Carolina, one of the Democratic lawmakers who voted against expelling Santos earlier this month, said Santos has now received due process.

“This report is fully damning,” he tweeted. “I will vote to expel him.”

And Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., who also voted no on the latest expulsion vote, said it’s not enough for Santos to say he won’t seek reelection.

“He should immediately resign or be expelled so his constituents can be represented by someone who isn’t a fraud,” Malliotakis said.

Expulsion, the sternest form of punishment, has occurred just five times in the history of the House—three times during the Civil War for disloyalty to the Union and twice after convictions on federal charges, most recently in 2002. Two-thirds of the House would have to vote to expel Santos for the resolution to pass.

If Santos were to be expelled, it would narrow the GOP’s already thin majority in the House, which now stands at 221-213. But many of his Republican colleagues from New York support booting Santos from the House as they seek to distance themselves from his actions.

Democrats have long chafed over Santos’s presence in the House not only because of his status as a flamboyant gay Republican, but also because he flipped a long-held blue district, representing one of the few Republican races that succeeded in doing so in an otherwise disappointing 2022 election cycle where a “red wave” had been projected.

Even had Santos not opened himself up to scandal, he undoubtedly would have been a top target of the Justice Department and other weaponized institutions within the Biden political apparatus as they seek to reclaim the House in 2024.

While Santos now says he won’t seek reelection, his campaign was already woefully short on resources and candidates from both parties were scrambling at the chance to challenge him. Campaign records show he had about $28,000 on hand at the end of the fundraising quarter ending Sept. 30, an incredibly small sum for an incumbent.

No Charges for Biden in Classified Docs Case Much Worse than Trump’s

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Joe Biden and his inner circle are set to evade criminal charges following an investigation into the mishandling of classified documents spanning his tenure in public office.

Despite revelations of significant mishandling, the DOJ is reportedly preparing not to pursue charges against the president or his aides.

The Wall Street Journal and CNN unveiled on Thursday that the DOJ, under Special Counsel Robert Hur, is anticipated to issue a scathing report on Biden’s handling of classified materials.

A probe involving approximately 100 individuals resulted in no charges into how the documents made their way to the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, and notably, to Biden’s infamous garage in Delaware.

Interrogations included high-ranking officials such as Secretary of State Antony Blinken, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan, White House aide Steve Ricchetti and former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, all of whom worked for Biden before he won the presidency in 2020.

In a stark contrast to the Biden case, the DOJ had pursued former President Donald Trump over a similar scenario.

Trump, asserting his authority to declassify, faced prosecution by Special Counsel Jack Smith for what was deemed an illegal withholding of documents found at his Mar-a-Lago estate last year.

Notably, Biden, in his roles as both senator and vice president, lacked the authority to declassify these documents.

The announcement of no charges against the scandal-ridden president triggered an immediate uproar, directly from Republican figures and conservative voices on Twitter.

Podcast host Megyn Kelly expressed her sarcastic astonishment, stating, “Shocked – SHOCKED.”

Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway lambasted the DOJ’s apparent double standard, citing the conviction of a pro-life activist while Biden faces no consequences.

“On same day of news leaking that Biden will not be held accountable for significant mishandling of classified docs for decades, DOJ brags about convicting pro-life activist Paula ‘Paulette’ Harlow, 75,” she said.

Collin Rugg, co-editor of Trending Politics, echoed the sentiment of injustice, saying, “Once again, the ‘justice’ system exists to protect the elites and punish those who question their power.”

Critics of Trump argue that the former president, unlike Biden, refused to turn over the documents upon request from the National Archives Records Administration.

On the other hand, Trump has blasted the National Archives as a left-wing agency that did not ask for the documents back.

“You know, Nara is a radical left group of people running that thing and when you send documents over there, I would say there’s a very good chance a lot of those documents will never be seen again,” he said in 2022 during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

‘Transgender’ Pop Star Urges Fans to Have Gay Sex at All-Ages Shows

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Kim Petras, the “transgender” pop star from Germany, said that he wants his homosexual fans to have sex during performances of his current concert tour as a way to groom children since minors as young as eight are allowed to attend the concerts.

Petras — who is a man but “identifies” as a woman — recently showed his true colors when he acknowledged that lewd and pornographic acts are taking place in full view during his concert and that he thinks it is supposed to be this way, according to a recent conversation that was published in Interview magazine.

“There’s definitely gay sex happening, which is lit. In the crowd, and that’s the goal,” Petras said.

It was reported by Breitbart News that children as young as eight are allowed to attend Petras’ tour, which will make its way through the United Kingdom, other European countries and the United States.

The website that was selling the tickets also said that children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

As expected, a person who encourages homosexuals to engage in their deviant sexual behavior was also inspired by Hell and pagan mythologies when he was looking for ideas for his tour.

“And if you look at the show, it’s kind of inspired by Dante’s Inferno and the different levels of Hell. I come out in an iron maiden. Everything’s very symbolic for my life and you really have to overanalyze it to get it all. And my obsession with Greek mythology and German fairytales and all of that stuff, all of my passions are very deeply in there,” he said.

In addition to his recent comments, after several U.S. states and European countries restricted hormone “therapies” for children, Petras defended the mutilation of minors by saying that lawmakers shouldn’t ban the procedures, many of which are irreversible and come with considerable harmful side effects.

N.Y. Judge Lifts Engoron’s Gag Order, Questions Authority to Limit Speech in Trump Civil Trial

(Headline USA) A gag order that barred Donald Trump from commenting about court personnel after he disparaged a law clerk in his New York civil fraud trial was temporarily lifted Thursday by an appellate judge who raised free speech concerns.

Judge David Friedman of the state’s intermediate appeals court issued what’s known a stay—suspending the gag order and allowing the former president to freely comment about court staff while a longer appeals process plays out.

The trial judge, Arthur Engoron, imposed the gag order on Oct. 3 after Trump criticized the judge’s law clerk, Allison Greenfield, on social media and questioned her ties to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

Engoron later fined Trump $15,000 for violations and expanded the gag order to his lawyers after they, too, questioned the clerk’s prominent role in the trial. They have since signaled their intention to call for a mistrial in the case, citing the improprieties as a primary reason.

Ruling at an emergency hearing Thursday, Friedman questioned Engoron’s authority to police Trump’s speech outside the courtroom—such as his frequent gripes about the case on social media and in comments to TV cameras in the courthouse hallway.

Friedman’s ruling also applies to Trump’s lawyers and others involved in the case.

Friedman said that while it’s true that judges often issue gag orders, they’re mostly used in criminal cases where there’s a fear that comments about the case could influence the jury. Trump’s civil trial doesn’t have a jury.

Trump lawyer Christopher Kise said after Friedman ruled that the appellate judge “made the right decision and allowed President Trump to take full advantage of his constitutional First Amendment rights to talk about bias in his own trial, what he’s seeing and witnessing in his own trial—which, frankly, everyone needs to see.”

Another Trump attorney, Alina Habba, indicated she has no plans to advise the former president to stay quiet about the clerk.

“I don’t see a reason for restrictions because Ms. James is continuing to disparage my client,” said Habba, referring to New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is prosecuting the case. “Both sides need to be able to speak.”

Trump hasn’t threatened the clerk’s safety, she said. She suggested that Greenfield was bringing scrutiny upon herself by being visible in court and by using social media.

Trump and his lawyers contend that Greenfield, a former Democratic judicial candidate, is a partisan voice in Engoron’s ear—though he also is a Democrat—and that she is playing too big a role in the case involving the former Republican president.

Engoron has responded by defending her role in the courtroom, ordering participants in the trial not to comment on court staffers and fining Trump a total of $15,000 for what the judge deemed violations. Engoron went on last week to prohibit attorneys in the case from commenting on “confidential communications” between him and his staff.

Trump’s lawyers contend that Engoron’s orders are unconstitutionally suppressing free speech, and not just any free speech.

“This constitutional protection is at its apogee where the speech in question is core political speech, made by the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, regarding perceived partisanship and bias at a trial where he is subject to hundreds of millions of dollars in penalties and the threatened prohibition of his lawful business activities in the state,” they wrote in a legal filing.

DePape’s Fishy Q’Anon Defense Fails to Sway Jury: Guilty of Attempted Kidnapping, Assault

(Headline USA) A radical leftist with ties to a pedophile cult—who sought to generate negative headlines for Republicans just weeks before the 2022 midterm elections with a suspicious attack on the husband of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.—failed to convince a jury that he had been brainwashed beyond the point of comprehending right from wrong.

A jury on Thursday convicted David DePape of federal charges for seeking to hold Pelosi hostage and attacking her husband with a hammer after breaking into the couple’s San Francisco home last October.

Jurors deliberated for about eight hours before finding DePape guilty of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official. DePape, who faces up to 50 years in prison, did not react as the verdict was read.

The attack on then-82-year-old Paul Pelosi that was captured on police body camera video just days before the midterm elections sent shockwaves through the political world.

DePape, 43, said during trial testimony that he broke into the Pelosis’ home on Oct. 28, 2022, intending to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage and “break her kneecaps” if she lied to him.

He also admitted to bludgeoning Paul Pelosi with a hammer after San Francisco police officers showed up at the home.

Hoping to capture the sympathies of a leftist San Francisco jury, defense attorneys largely echoed the dubious claims that Pelosi herself had made after the assault, saying—contrary to obvious evidence—that DePape was motivated by extreme right-wing political beliefs and was caught up in Q’Anon conspiracies.

The obvious discrepancies between the narrative and the evidentiary record—as well as the changing stories of law enforcement—drove many to suspect that the assault was the result of a romantic encounter gone wrong as Nancy Pelosi was out of town at the time. Paul Pelosi was in his underwear when police arrived.

At a news conference outside the federal courthouse where the verdict was read, U.S. Attorney Ismail Ramsey told reporters: “People can believe what they want and engage in passionate debate. But this guilty verdict on all counts sends a clear message that regardless of what your beliefs are, what you cannot do is physically attack a member of Congress or their immediate family for the performance of their job.”

Defense attorneys did not comment on the verdict.

A sentencing date has not yet been set. A status hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13.

DePape, a Canadian citizen who moved to the U.S. more than 20 years ago, also is charged in state court with assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, residential burglary and other felonies. A state trial date will be set during a Nov. 29 hearing, said San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. She said her office will confer with federal prosecutors and the Pelosis to determine next steps.

During his testimony, DePape told jurors he had planned to wear an inflatable unicorn costume and record his interrogation of Nancy Pelosi to upload it online. Prosecutors say he had rope and zip ties with him. Detectives also found body cameras, a computer and a tablet.

DePape testified that his plan was to get Nancy Pelosi to admit that she had been lying to the American people. “If she lied, I would break her kneecaps,” he said. “The choice is on her.”

He said he would then move to other targets, including a women’s and queer studies professor who testified at the trial, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, actor Tom Hanks and President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden.

Paul Pelosi also testified, recalling how he was awakened by a large man bursting into the bedroom door and asking, “Where’s Nancy?” He said that when he responded that his wife was in Washington, DePape said he would tie him up while they waited for her.

“It was a tremendous sense of shock to recognize that somebody had broken into the house and looking at him and looking at the hammer and the ties, I recognized that I was in serious danger, so I tried to stay as calm as possible,” Pelosi told jurors.

Pelosi recounted how he managed to call 911 with DePape looking on, urging Pelosi to tell police that he was a friend. Pelosi said he tried to tell police what was happening without aggravating DePape.

Pelosi recalled being thankful when the police arrived, only for DePape to then hit him with the hammer. He said he woke up in a pool of his own blood.

More than a year after the attack, he still hasn’t fully recovered, Pelosi said. A neurosurgeon who operated on him testified that Pelosi had two wounds on his head, including a fracture to his skull that had to be mended with plates and screws he will have for the rest of his life. Pelosi also needed stitches on injuries to his right arm and hand, the surgeon said.

A spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi issued a statement after the verdict was announced saying Paul Pelosi “continues to make progress in his recovery” and that the family was grateful for the outpouring of support for him from people across the U.S..

DePape testified he thought Paul Pelosi was dead until he saw he was charged by San Francisco prosecutors with attempted murder.

“He was never my target and I’m sorry that he got hurt,” DePape said.

AOC-Linked Socialist Group Stuns w/ Racist Post Mocking Dem. Leader

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The New York chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) came under fire after posting a flier to promote a protest targeting House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y. The poster featured an image that some critics found disturbingly racist.

The DSA — an activist organization closely associated with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. — announced plans for a protest outside Jeffries’s Brooklyn office using a poster that included a depiction of a watermelon.

This imagery drew swift attention and criticism due to historical racial connotations associated with watermelons.

“Why was @RepJeffries sharing the stage with far-right pastor John Hagee at yesterday’s ‘March for Israel’? Ask him yourself on Friday!,” the DSA proclaimed on Twitter, featuring the poster.

The DSA’s Twitter post promoting the event quickly scathing rebukes from users on the platform.

“So NY DSA chose to highlight the black house minority leader with a watermelon on a flyer. This is @AOC’s DSA by the way, no big deal,” conservative writer Stephen L. Miller said.

Another Twitter user echoed Miller’s sentiments, saying, “Let’s talk about your racially offensive ‘watermelon’ rhetoric towards House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.”

Even individuals identifying as Democrats expressed dismay over the poster

Former NY State Sen. Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, a Democrat, took issue with the poster, mocking the tweet’s imagery in a satirical tweet.

“DSA’s poster discussion, a short play: ‘Comrades, how can we pressure Hakeem Jeffries to do what we want?’ ‘How about a drawing of a watermelon?’ ‘Great idea! That will really show him we mean business. And there’s definitely nothing racist about it either!’ End scene,” he said.

Columnist and Democratic strategist Max Burns chimed in. “Another own-goal of a messaging mess from DSA, which inexplicably chose to call Rep. Hakeem Jeffries out with a poster that includes a giant watermelon,” he noted.

An attempt was made by a user to explain that the watermelon could be a reference to Palestinian solidarity, dating back to the Six-Day War. This interpretation ties watermelons with the colors of the Palestinian flag.

The protests aimed at Jeffries stem from his support of Israel, which has attracted criticism from some leftist groups following Israel’s response to Oct. 7 terrorist acts by Hamas, which left at least 1,400 individuals dead.

The 2018 victory of Ocasio-Cortez, a member of DSA, against former Rep. Joseph Crowley has been long attributed to the the NYC chapter of the DSA.

GOP Sen.: Top HHS Official May Have Destroyed Records Related to COVID Origins

(Headline USA) Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., revealed this week that a top official in the Department of Health and Human Services may have “destroyed responsive records” regarding the origins of COVID-19.

In a letter to HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra on Wednesday, Johnson demanded an interview with David Morens, a former aide to COVID czar Anthony Fauci.

“I am deeply concerned that HHS officials may have intentionally removed or destroyed responsive records on the origins of COVID-19 or on other aspects of the pandemic,” Johnson wrote, according to the New York Post.

The senator cited a June 2021 email sent by Morens to his colleagues about a request for information Johnson and his colleagues had sent to him earlier that month.

“I have tried to make sure I have retained no documents that might lead other members of [American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene] to be approached for similar document production,” Morens wrote. “In other words, I don’t think there is anything to worry about because there is no ‘there’ there.”

The email also included the subject line, “CONFIDENTIAL WITHIN OUR SMALL GROUP, PLEASE.”

Johnson said the email is evidence Morens “may have intentionally deleted or destroyed records” sought by congressional Republicans in order to “directly obstruct” their “oversight efforts” and the investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another email from Morens cited by Johnson is one in which he explained to colleagues that he “always” communicates “on Gmail because my NIH email is FOIA’d constantly,” and that he would “delete anything I don’t want to see in the New York Times.”

Morens worked as Fauci’s senior adviser at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases from 1998 until last year when Fauci retired.

A publicly viewable LinkedIn account that listed him as “open to networking” appeared to indicate as of Thursday night that he remained in the same position at NIAID under its new director.

Fauci repeatedly downplayed the COVID lab-leak theory, insisting that the virus originated naturally. Republicans have accused him misleading the public in order to shield himself and his agency’s funding of dangerous research in China from criticism.

Blinken Visibly Winces When Biden Calls Xi A ‘Dictator’

(Headline USA) Secretary of State Antony Blinken appeared to visibly wince during the Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation conference on Wednesday when President Joe Biden referred to Chinese President Xi Jinping as a “dictator.”

Video footage showed Blinken recoiling and shaking his head after Biden, during his address, said Xi “is a dictator in the sense that he is the guy who runs the country that is a communist country … based on a form of government different than ours.”

The remark came just hours after Biden met with Xi in San Francisco ahead of the address—the two leaders’ first in-person sit-down in a year.

Blinken reportedly has been trying to mend ties with Xi’s ties after Biden referred to Xi as a dictator back in June, prompting a harsh rebuke from the Chinese government.

Publicly, however, he stood behind Biden, saying that the president “speaks candidly, he speaks clearly.”

Xi’s government similarly blasted Biden this week following the comment, saying China “strongly opposes” the dictator description.

“This statement is extremely wrong and irresponsible political manipulation,” said Mao Ning, a spokeswoman for China’s foreign ministry, in a statement without mentioning Biden by name. “It should be pointed out that there will always be some people with ulterior motives who attempt to incite and damage U.S.–China relations, they are doomed to fail.”

However, Biden doubled down on the characterization when asked whether he stands by the remark on Thursday.

“Well, look, he is,” Biden said of Xi.

The rest of the APEC conference focused on easing tensions between the U.S. and China, with Xi insisting that the U.S. cannot decouple its economy from China’s without serious consequences.

Biden also vowed not to let the ongoing tensions “veer into conflict,” though it is not clear whether he addressed China’s increasing military aggression toward the U.S.

“I value our conversation because I think it’s paramount that you and I understand each other clearly, leader to leader, with no misconceptions or miscommunication,” Biden told Xi.

Biden Jokes That Newsom Can Have His Job

(Headline USA) President Joe Biden jokingly admitted this week that California Gov. Gavin Newsom “could have the job I’m looking for,” referring to his 2024 election bid.

Biden made the comment during a reception for leaders at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference in San Francisco, praising Newsom for the job he’s done in California.

“I want to thank him. He’s been one hell of a governor, man,” Biden said. “Matter of fact, he can be anything he wants—he could have the job I’m looking for.”

Newsom has been floated as a potential Democratic primary challenger, with some fellow Democrats even admitting that the governor’s “shadow” presidential campaign poses a threat to Biden’s reelection bid.

Last month, for example, Newsom visited China to speak with President Xi Jinping ahead of the APEC conference.

He claimed the purpose of the trip was for “turning the page, of renewing our friendship, and re-engaging on foundational and fundamental issues that will determine our collective faith in the future.”

Newsom has also agreed to participate in a high-profile debate against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is seeking the GOP nomination.

However, the Democrat has repeatedly denied that he has presidential ambitions.

“We need to move past this notion that he’s not going to run,” Newsom told NBC News in September. “President Biden is going to run and I’m looking forward to him getting reelected.”

But Newsom’s denials haven’t convinced Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., who blasted Newsom this month for “not having the guts” to challenge Biden directly.

“Right now there are two additional Democrats running … for president right now,” Fetterman said.

“One is a congressman from Minnesota,” he continued, referring to Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn. “The other one is the governor of California. They’re both running for president, but only one had the guts to announce it.”
