Former Trump Aide Says She Would ‘Absolutely’ Vote for Biden Because of J6

(Headline USA) Former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson, the “star witness” who testified against the former president on his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, said this week that she would “absolutely consider” voting for President Joe Biden in November’s election.

During an interview with CNN, Hutchinson confirmed she has no intention of voting for Donald Trump.

“And I would absolutely consider voting for President Biden,” Hutchinson told CNN’s Kaitlin Collins. “I would never tell Americans how to vote, but I do know there are a lot of Americans who currently are on the fence about who to vote for. And these are active conversations that we need to engage in over the next six, seven months.”

The former White House staffer encouraged independent voters to “really do a deep dive and look at the damage that Donald Trump has done to our democracy and what he would continue to do in a potential second Trump term.”

This is not the first time Hutchinson has all but endorsed Biden. In November, she told MSNBC’s Jen Psaki that while she wasn’t ready to officially endorse the Democrat, she wanted “everybody” to “vote for Joe Biden if they want our democracy to survive.”

A few months prior, she said on CNN that Trump is the “most grave threat we will face to our democracy in our lifetime and potentially in American history.”

Hutchinson has repeatedly bashed the former president after coming out against him during congressional Democrats’ Jan. 6 committee investigation. Hutchinson testified to the committee that Trump was responsible for the riot and that he even tried to “grab” the wheel of his vehicle from the Secret Service agent driving to go to the riot himself.

However, Hutchinson later made “significant substantive changes” to her claims, including “conversations she originally claimed to have not been privy to or not remember.”

Ukrainian Special Interest Group Seeks to Weaponize FCC against Musk

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) In September 2022, Elon Musk may have prevented a World War 3 when he instructed SpaceX employees to disable his Starlink internet service to prevent a Ukrainian attack on the Russian naval fleet in Crimea.

Now, a Ukrainian special interest group seeks to have the Federal Communications Commission remove internet spectrum assignments from Musk’s Starlink in retaliation. That group has gone as far as to accuse Musk of mental illness.

In a Wednesday filing to the FCC, The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America cited Musk’s prevention of the September 2022 Ukrainian attack as a reason Starlink should have a decreased share of the internet spectrum. UCCA’s filing was reportedly in response to SpaceX’s recent request to allow new entrants into the 1.6/2.4 GigaHertz (GHz) band.

“Musk has taken on the role of apologist for indicted war criminal Vladimir Putin … Elon Musk refused a Ukrainian request to activate his Starlink satellite network in Crimea’s port city of Sevastopol to aid an attack on Russia’s fleet,” the UCCA said in its filing.

“Disabling the Starlink service and allowing Ukrainian civilians to be murdered by Russian missiles is unconscionable.”

UCCA also accused Musk of providing Starlink to Russia’s military—an allegation that appears to be false. Russia has banned Starlink from the country—though black-market retailers have reportedly sold dozens of Starlink internet terminals, which have wound up with Russians on the front lines in Ukraine.

Additionally, UCCA cited Musk’s drug use, his interest in conspiracies and other factors as reasons why Starlink should be stripped of spectrum allotment.

“Musk’s erratic behavior, his penchant for conspiracy theories, his ill-considered antisemitic statement and drug use all point to an individual facing mental health challenges,” UCCA said.

“So much so, that the FCC needs to consider if Musk, as the controlling shareholder of SpaceX, has the basic qualifications and competence to remain an FCC licensee.”

UCCA called for a hearing “to determine if Musk is qualified to remain an FCC licensee.” Musk has not publicly responded to the filing, and the FCC has also yet to respond.

IRS May Use AI Technology to Target MAGA Groups

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) The Internal Revenue Service announced that it will begin using artificial intelligence technology in order to police U.S. citizens, raising concerns about weaponization of the software against conservatives, the Epoch Times reported.

“Right now, I believe that there are AI solutions that we have not yet leveraged that exist today that can help with some of these basic questions to the benefit of taxpayers,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel at an April 17 summit in Washington, D.C. intended to celebrate the integration of the emerging dystopian technology into the public sector.

“And on the other side of the equation, we are using AI today to do even more to unlock and spot this complexity,” added Werfel, who was recently grilled by two separate House panels following an inspector general’s report that outlined shocking security flaws within the agency and amid ongoing questions about its targeting of conservative groups.

Werfel said that the software could spot highly elaborate tax schemes and prevent fraud and waste within the IRS.

However, tech experts warned that the IRS may have more nefarious plans for the technology, as it might open up the door for very targeted discrimination.

“This technology really gives the IRS a shield to bulk flag anyone it finds problematic, which is very troubling,” said Jake Denton, a research associate at the Heritage Foundation’s Tech Policy Center. “The effect of this can be absolutely devastating because essentially the IRS could weaponize it, and no one would have any idea.”

Recent allegations from House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer, R-Ky., that Werfel was selectively enforcing tax-exempt rules for conservative groups and not leftist ones evoked bitter memories of the Obama-era scandal surrounding IRS official Lois Lerner, who ultimately was held in contempt of Congress for pleading the Fifth and refusing to testify, but was never prosecuted.

In 2017, courts forced the IRS to apologize for targetingd 40 groups that identified themselves as conservative in their applications for tax-exempt 501(c)3 organizations.

The groups faced additional bureaucratic reviews, intensive questioning and needless delays. The IRS also requested sensitive information from the groups that was irrelevant to their tax-exempt status.

In 2022 the federal government granted the IRS $80 billion in funding to implement the AI software.

“This kind of AI integration is perfect to cultivate the kind of discriminatory corruption people are most concerned about,” Denton said. “AI would allow bad actors within the agency to use the technology to target certain groups and now there would be nothing that the individual could do to contest the models since the process would have been automated away to an unexplainable black box.”

Denton explained that the goal is not to prevent the IRS from using AI, but to properly optimize the technology in order to prioritize transparency.

“We can set these kinds of guidelines before it is fully adopted and given its history, shouldn’t accept anything less,” he concluded.

An undercover report from an investigative journalist working with conservative activist James O’Keefe disclosed the alarming scope of the agency’s reliance on AI technology.

Alex Mena, a member of the IRS Criminal Investigations Unit, told the female journalist in a candid interview that he “doubts the constitutionality” of the IRS information gathering, which is overseen not by the Treasury Department but the Justice Department.

“We have, like, all the information from all the companies in the whole world actually, not just in the United States,” he confessed.

Nebraska Ends Income Taxes on Gold and Silver, Declares CBDCs Are Not Lawful Money

(Money Metals News Service) With Gov. Jim Pillen’s signature, Nebraska has become the 12th state to end capital gains taxes on sales of gold and silver.

Under LB 1317, any “gains” or “losses” on precious metal sales reported on federal income tax returns are backed out, thereby removing them from the calculation of a Nebraska taxpayer’s adjusted gross income (AGI).

Backed by the Sound Money Defense League, Money Metals Exchange, and in-state advocates, the sound money measure passed out of the unicameral legislature’s Revenue Committee unanimously before being amended into a must-pass bill by a vote of 27-5.

Sponsor Sen. Ben Hansen, said upon news of the formal enactment of his legislation, “I was extremely pleased to see LB 1317 signed into law. Gold and silver are the only forms of currency mentioned in our Constitution and with that comes the people’s ability to use it as such without penalty from the government. Saving, and using, gold and silver is our right and one of the only checks and balances to our federal government’s unending devaluation of our paper currency. ”

Gold and silver ownership serves as a hedge against the devaluation of the dollar due to Federal Reserve policies. Consequently, taxpayers often realize ‘gains’ when converting the monetary metals back into Federal Reserve notes (i.e. selling) that do not reflect any increase in real value but rather reflect the currency’s ongoing devaluation.

Despite the lack of “real” gains, the Internal Revenue Service imposes capital gains taxes on such transactions. Nebraska has now opted out at the state level, declining to carry the IRS’s position into the definition of Nebraska income.

Jp Cortez, executive director of the Sound Money Defense League, explained during his testimony before the Revenue Committee that the ferocious wave of inflation facing Nebraskans is largely caused by harmful actions of the Federal Reserve.

“The state can take a different course and provide Nebraska citizens cleaner access to gold and silver ownership – and these metals are not only a proven inflation hedge but states all over the country are remonetizing constitutional sound money in the form of gold and silver,” Cortez said.

Eleven other states already do not charge an income tax on sales of precious metals, with Arkansas, Arizona, and Utah recently enacting such laws. Meanwhile, Iowa, Georgia, Oklahoma, Missouri, West Virginia, and Kansas are actively considering similar legislation in 2024.

“Investments in precious metals coins and bullion in Nebraska are now rightly exempt from both sales tax and income tax,” said Stefan Gleason, CEO of Money Metals and Chairman of the Sound Money Defense League.

“Neutralizing Nebraska’s income tax treatment of the monetary metals removes significant disincentives in the Cornhusker State against the ownership and use of the monetary metals,” said Gleason.

Meanwhile, LB 1317 revises the state’s formal definition of money by adding language that states: “Money does not include central bank digital currency.”

The new law defines central bank digital currency as “a digital medium of exchange, token, or monetary unit of account issued by the United States Federal Reserve System or any analogous federal agency that is made directly available to the consumer by such federal entities. Central bank digital currency (CBDC) includes a digital medium of exchange, token, or monetary unit of account so issued that is processed or validated directly by such federal entities.”

Sen. Hansen said, “I believe we have to be extra vigilant in our assessment and application of a Central bank digital currency to make sure they do not become a danger to our freedom. For this reason, we defined in LB 1317 that CBDCs are not classified as currency in Nebraska, which should help protect against unwarranted mandates for their use in the future.”

Versions of this “anti-CBDC language” have advanced or signed into law in Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, South Dakota, and Indiana. Congressman Alex Mooney has also introduced a federal measure to block the Federal Reserve’s digital currency scheme.

In his testimony, Cortez discussed the potential risks of adopting a CBDC, including creating a greater ability to track all financial transactions, disallowing certain types of purchases, or even completely “turning off” a targeted individual’s access to money.

Nebraska joins Utah, Wisconsin, Kentucky, South Dakota, and Tennessee as states to have enacted pro-sound money legislation into law so far in 2024.

Currently ranked 22nd in the 2024 Sound Money Index, Nebraska’s ranking is expected to rise.

Biden May Leave Troops in Niger, Risking Another Benghazi

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Will the Biden administration risk the lives of U.S. troops to avoid embarrassment?

A top Defense Department official told The Associated Press on Wednesday that there has been no final decision on whether the U.S. will leave Niger and Chad—two African countries that have made it clear that the American military is not welcome there.

Niger’s ruling junta ended an agreement last month that allows U.S. troops to operate in the West African country. The government of neighboring Chad in recent days also has moved to expel the U.S.

Niger apparently wants the U.S. out of its country so badly that it has stopped processing visas for them. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., whose office investigated Army whistleblower complaints about the situation in Niger, revealed last week that troops there are also experiencing water and medicine shortages.

Gaetz accused Secretary of State Antony Blinken of covering up how bad the situation is in Niger because he called the country a “model democracy” last year—months before a coup took place.

Gaetz said he fears this coverup will lead to another Benghazi—the 2012 terrorist attack against two U.S. government facilities in Benghazi, Libya, which came after the Obama administration spearheaded a coup there.

“U.S. embassy Niger has been blocking the intelligence. I fear that as we speak, the conditions are forming for another Benghazi-style attack,” he said on the House floor this week.

Despite Gaetz’s seemingly valid concerns, the U.S. is now waffling on whether it will respect Niger’s sovereignty.

“There’s still negotiations underway,” Joint Chiefs Vice Chairman Adm. Christopher Grady, the nation’s second-highest-ranking military officer, said in an interview. “I don’t believe there is a final decision on disposition of U.S. forces there.”

Relations have frayed between Niger and Western countries since mutinous soldiers ousted the country’s democratically elected president in July. Niger’s junta has since told French forces to leave and turned instead to Russia for security. Earlier this month, Russian military trainers arrived to reinforce the country’s air defenses and with Russian equipment to train Nigeriens to use.

The government of Chad also recently requested that U.S. forces leave, and officials from the State Department, U.S. Africa Command and the Pentagon will work with Chad’s government to make the case for U.S. forces to stay, Grady said.

“The team has got get on the ground there and work it through,” Grady said.

He said that if both countries ultimately decide the U.S. cannot remain there, the military will have to look for alternatives to run counterterrorism missions across the Sahel, a vast region south of the Sahara Desert.

Robust Chinese Gold Demand Expected to Continue Supporting the Market

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) Strong Chinese gold demand will continue to support the gold market according to a recent research report by Metals Focus.

Gold recently hit record highs over $2,400, but there has been some profit-taking and consolidation this week. Cooling geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have dampened safe haven buying. Meanwhile, recent hawkish open-mouth operations by the Federal Reserve officials have also created headwinds for gold. The gold price tumbled 2.7 percent on Monday (April 23), the worst single-day decline in almost two years.

Last week, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell admitted the inflation fight isn’t going well and hinted that interest rates may stay higher for longer.

“We have stated that we need greater confidence in inflation before considering lowering interest rates. However, the recent data has not given us greater confidence that inflation is heading toward the 2 percent target.”

Powell went on to say, “It is appropriate to let restrictive policy take further time to work.”

Chicago Fed president Austan Goolsbee was even more blunt, saying, “Progress on inflation has stalled.”

The hawkish turn drove the yield on the 2-year Treasury to 5 percent.

While gold charted a significant correction, the price didn’t fall nearly as far as one might expect given the recent market dynamics. For months, investors in the West have sold gold at any hint that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates higher for longer. Given the messaging coming out of the central bank, an even bigger correction wouldn’t have been a shock.

But there are other factors supporting the gold market, particularly in the East.

Chinese Gold Demand Strong Despite Rising Prices

The Fed turn, along with the recent correction, might discourage some gold bulls, but analysts and Metals Focus say Asian demand, especially Chinese buying, will continue to support gold prices throughout 2024.

Gold demand in Asia, particularly China, has been robust for months. Wholesale demand in China set a record in January. Assets under management by Chinese gold-backed ETFs also hit an all-time high.

Gold demand in China was up 28 percent in 2023 and analysts and Metals Focus project continued solid demand through the rest of the year.

Robust gold buying has driven the gold price premium for gold traded on the Shanghai Gold Exchange to extremely high levels. Chinese buyers have paid an average of $40 above the London Bullion Market Association benchmark through the first four months of this year.

Metals Focus analysts note that Chinese investors have historically sold gold into rising prices. This hasn’t been the case over the last several months. Despite a rising gold price and that big premium, Chinese investors have continued to pile into gold – specifically physical bullion in the form of bars and coins.

“Although sharp price gains have weighed on jewelry consumption, bullish price expectations (and a lack of alternative investment options in some countries) have, in fact, helped boost demand for bars and coins and have limited the scale of profit taking in Asia and the Middle East.”

The report said even if we see a further decline in retail gold investment, the global sale of gold bars and coins will likely increase in 2024.

The Metals Focus report noted that Chinese investors are struggling with a lack of investment options during a time of economic uncertainty. As a result, they are turning to a tried-and-true wealth preservation asset – gold.

“It is worth noting that in 2023, total area and sales of commercial housing sold was down 8.5% and 6.5%, respectively y/y. Turning to equity markets, the Shanghai Composite Index and Shenzhen Component Index were under pressure for much of last year while their recent rebound seems to have stalled. All this is benefiting gold’s appeal as a safe haven and portfolio diversifier, among investors.”

Chinese investors seem to be following the lead of their central bank. The People’s Bank of China has been gobbling up gold for over a year. The central bank has expanded its gold reserves for 16 straight months, adding over 300 tons of the yellow metal to its stash since it resumed reporting gold purchases in October 2022.

The People’s Bank of China added 1,448 tons of gold to its stash between 2002 and 2019, and then suddenly went dark until it resumed reporting in the fall of 2022. There is speculation that the Chinese were still adding gold to their holdings off the books during those silent years.

It appears the Chinese central bank is intentionally trying to minimize its exposure to the U.S. dollar.

Metals Focus analysts said Chinese central bank buying is sending a strong signal to Chinese investors.

“The PBoC’s ongoing diversification into gold most probably reinforced local investors’ belief in the metal and solidified its role as a hedge against market turmoil and financial instability.”

POLL: Most Americans, Including Democrats, Support Mass Deportations

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Mainstream media used to compare Donald Trump to Hitler for his strong anti-illegal immigration stance.

But now, mass deportations look to be a centrist position. At least that’s what a new poll from Axios suggests.

“Half of Americans—including 42% of Democrats—say they’d support mass deportations of undocumented immigrants,” Axios reported Thursday.

“And 30% of Democrats—as well as 46% of Republicans—now say they’d end birthright citizenship, something guaranteed under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.”

The shift towards Trump’s immigration stance comes as Democrat-controlled cities are overwhelmed by the influx of migrants.

In New York, for example, more than 180,000 illegal immigrants have travelled there since the spring of 2022, according to the mayor’s office. More than 64,000 are in the city’s care through its more than 200 emergency shelter sites.

Public resources have apparently become so strained that NYC’s city officials and advocates for illegal immigrants reached an agreement on Mayor Eric Adams’ bid to suspend the city’s “ right to shelter ” policy—essentially ending the city’s blanket requirement to provide shelter for adult immigrants without any time limits. Now, officials can decide whether to allow a migrant to stay in a shelter beyond 30 days on a case-by-case basis.

Meanwhile, in Denver, a city official recently begged illegal immigrants in the city to leave and move to New York City instead, warning that they would “suffer” if they stayed.

“The opportunities are over,” said Andres Carrera, Denver’s “newcomer” communications liaison, in a recent video obtained by local news.

“New York gives you more. Chicago gives you more. So I suggest you go there where there is longer-term shelter. There are also more job opportunities there.”

The public opinion shift has Democrats now trying to outflank Republicans and convince voters they can address problems at the U.S. border with Mexico.

“Democrats aren’t going to win on immigration this year, but they have to get closer to a draw on the issue to get to a place where people take them seriously,” said Lanae Erickson, a senior vice president at Third Way, a centrist Democrat think tank.

New York Appeals Court Overturns Harvey Weinstein’s Rape Conviction

(Headline USA) New York’s highest court on Thursday overturned Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction, finding the judge at the landmark #MeToo trial prejudiced the ex-movie mogul with “egregious” improper rulings, including a decision to let women testify about allegations that weren’t part of the case.

“We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,” the court’s 4-3 decision said. “The remedy for these egregious errors is a new trial.”

The state Court of Appeals ruling reopens a painful chapter in America’s reckoning with sexual misconduct by powerful figures — an era that began in 2017 with a flood of allegations against Weinstein. His accusers could again be forced to relive their traumas on the witness stand.

The court’s majority said “it is an abuse of judicial discretion to permit untested allegations of nothing more than bad behavior that destroys a defendant’s character but sheds no light on their credibility as related to the criminal charges lodged against them.”

In a stinging dissent, Judge Madeline Singas wrote that the majority was “whitewashing the facts to conform to a he-said/she-said narrative,” and said the Court of Appeals was continuing a “disturbing trend of overturning juries’ guilty verdicts in cases involving sexual violence.”

“The majority’s determination perpetuates outdated notions of sexual violence and allows predators to escape accountability,” Singas wrote.

Weinstein, 72, has been serving a 23-year sentence in a New York prison following his conviction on charges of criminal sex act for forcibly performing oral sex on a TV and film production assistant in 2006 and rape in the third degree for an attack on an aspiring actress in 2013.

He will remain imprisoned because he was convicted in Los Angeles in 2022 of another rape and sentenced to 16 years in prison. Weinstein was acquitted in Los Angeles on charges involving one of the women who testified in New York.

Weinstein’s lawyers argued Judge James Burke’s rulings in favor of the prosecution turned the trial into “1-800-GET-HARVEY.”

The reversal of Weinstein’s conviction is the second major #MeToo setback in the last two years, after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of a Pennsylvania court decision to throw out Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction.

Weinstein’s conviction stood for more than four years, heralded by activists and advocates as a milestone achievement, but dissected just as quickly by his lawyers and, later, the Court of Appeals when it heard arguments on the matter in February.

Allegations against Weinstein, the once powerful and feared studio boss behind such Oscar winners as “Pulp Fiction” and “Shakespeare in Love,” ushered in the #MeToo movement. Dozens of women came forward to accuse Weinstein, including famous actresses such as Ashley Judd and Uma Thurman. His New York trial drew intense publicity, with protesters chanting “rapist” outside the courthouse.

Weinstein is incarcerated in New York at the Mohawk Correctional Facility, about 100 miles northwest of Albany.

He maintains his innocence. He contends any sexual activity was consensual.

Weinstein lawyer Arthur Aidala argued before the appeals court in February that Burke swayed the trial by allowing three women to testify about allegations that weren’t part of the case and by giving prosecutors permission to confront Weinstein, if he had testified, about his long history of brutish behavior.

Aidala argued the extra testimony went beyond the normally allowable details about motive, opportunity, intent or a common scheme or plan, and essentially put Weinstein on trial for crimes he wasn’t charged with.

Weinstein wanted to testify, but opted not to because Burke’s ruling would’ve meant answering questions about more than two-dozen alleged acts of misbehavior dating back four decades, Aidala said. They included fighting with his movie producer brother, flipping over a table in anger and snapping at waiters and yelling at his assistants.

“We had a defendant who was begging to tell his side of the story. It’s a he said, she said case, and he’s saying ‘that’s not how it happened. Let me tell you how I did it,’” Aidala argued. Instead, the jurors heard evidence of Weinstein’s prior bad behavior that “had nothing to do with truth and veracity. It was all ‘he’s a bad guy.’”

Aidala also took issue with Burke’s refusal to remove a juror who had written a novel involving predatory older men, a topic the defense lawyer argued too closely resembled the issues in Weinstein’s case.

A lawyer for the Manhattan district attorney’s office, which prosecuted the case, argued that the judge‘s rulings were proper and that the extra evidence and testimony he allowed was important to provide jurors context about Weinstein’s behavior and the way he interacted with women.

“Defendant’s argument was that they had a consensual and loving relationship both before and after the charged incidents,” Appellate Chief Steven Wu argued, referring to one of the women Weinstein was charged with assaulting. The additional testimony “just rebutted that characterization completely.”

Wu said Weinstein’s acquittal on the most serious charges — two counts of predatory sexual assault and a first-degree rape charge involving actor Annabella Sciorra’s allegations of a mid-1990s rape — showed jurors were paying attention and they were not confused or overwhelmed by the additional testimony.

The Associated Press does not generally identify people alleging sexual assault unless they consent to be named; Sciorra has spoken publicly about her allegations.

The Court of Appeals agreed last year to take Weinstein’s case after an intermediate appeals court upheld his conviction. Prior to their ruling, judges on the lower appellate court had raised doubts about Burke’s conduct during oral arguments. One observed that Burke had let prosecutors pile on with “incredibly prejudicial testimony” from additional witnesses.

Burke’s term expired at the end of 2022. He was not reappointed and is no longer a judge.

In appealing, Weinstein’s lawyers sought a new trial, but only for the criminal sexual act charge. They argued the rape charge could not be retried because it involves alleged conduct outside the statute of limitations.

Left-Wing J6 Capitol Stormer Going Crazy from Solitary Confinement

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Last November, left-wing activist John Sullivan was convicted for participating in the Jan. 6, 2021, Captiol Hill uprising—an event to which Sullivan brought a knife and encouraged protestors to act violently. He’s set to be sentenced Friday.

Since his conviction, Sullivan—the man who filmed the shooting of Ashli Babbitt—has been in solitary confinement. While the DC gulag has a unit specifically for J6ers, the government has expressed concern that Sullivan would be harmed if he was sent there.

But according to Sullivan’s attorney, the last six months of solitary confinement has taken a mental and physical toll on his client.

“John Sullivan has had an awful experience while in custody at the D.C. Jail since the date of his convictions. … He is considered to be politically opposed to other January 6 defendants and the D.C. Jail made a decision to have him segregated from other January 6 defendants. Mr. Sullivan has been held in protective custody and in virtual isolation throughout the duration of his incarceration,” said his lawyer, Steven Kiersh, in a sentencing memorandum last Friday.

“Counsel meets with defendant regularly at the D.C. Jail and has seen a dramatic decrease in his mental stability and his overall physical presence.”

Citing those factors as well as Sullivan’s prior clean record, attorney Kiersh asked the presiding judge to sentence his client to 30 months imprisonment with credit for time served. He also asked for Sullivan to serve that time in a law-security prison in his home state of Utah, where there are no federal facilities.

The Justice Department, however, is seeking 87 months of incarceration, 3 years of supervised release, and a fine in the amount of $90,875. In their sentencing memorandum Friday, prosecutors cited Sullivan’s egregious activities on Jan. 6 and his record as a provocateur.

Sullivan brought to the Capitol a retractable knife with an almost four inch blade, which—during two of the most serious inflection points of January 6, 2021—he offered up to rioters at the House Main Door and the Speaker’s Lobby Door,” the DOJ said.

“Earlier in the day, Sullivan, a self-proclaimed ‘activist’ from Utah, joined the growing crowd on the West Plaza of the Capitol. Sullivan encouraged violence stating, ‘we’re taking this shit to the ground’, ‘burn this shit down,’ and ‘let’s fuck this shit up.’”

Sullivan is scheduled for sentencing Friday at 2:30 p.m. on Friday before Judge Royce C. Lamberth.

Fake Ariz. AG Charges Giuliani, Meadows and 16 Others in Lawfare Case over ‘Fake Electors’

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Arizona’s corrupt leftist attorney general, who won her own election by a 280-vote margin following irregularities in Maricopa County and elsewhere, added insult to injury once more with a targeted lawfare attack on seven top Trump allies, Just the News reported.

The investigation by state Attorney General* Kris Mayes was the latest high profile case to promote leftist conspiracy theories that the legitimate legal efforts challenging highly suspicious circumstances in the aftermath of the 2020 election were tantamount to insurrection—despite the fact that Democrats have previously used the same type of challenges in their own election losses.

On Wednesday, Mayes persuaded a grand jury to indict former Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Jenna Ellis and Christina Bobb, as well as former chief of staff Mark Meadows, campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn and campaign operative Mike Roman, over their alleged efforts to “prevent the lawful transfer of the presidency” by convening a slate of alternate electors in the state where Biden officially won the race by a margin of 10,457 votes.

The felony charges included conspiracy, fraud and forgery.

Although the names in the 58-page document were redacted, descriptions made clear several of the identities, which largely overlapped with the 18 indictments in the Georgia case being waged by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

Trump himself was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Arizona case.

In addition to the seven Trump aides, 11 Arizona Republicans were also indicted, including two state senators, in what is sure to benefit Mayes and her party politically—both directly and indirectly, due to the chilling effect it will have on future election challenges.

Mayes claimed to have reached her conclusions following a 13-month investigation.

“I know I’ll be criticized by others for conducting this investigation at all,” said the George Soros-backed operative in a video announcement.

“But as I’ve stated before and will say here again today, I will not allow American democracy to be undermined,” Mayes continued with little self-awareness. “We’re here because justice demands an answer to the efforts that the defendants and other unindicted co-conspirators allegedly took to undermine the will of Arizona’s voters during the 2020 presidential election.”

It is not the first time Mayes has brazenly targeted Republican election officials with intimidation tactics. She previously charged two GOP supervisors from Cochise County over their reluctance to sign off on the 2022 election results due to concerns that the voting machines used to tabulate ballots weren’t properly certified.

She also threatened similar litigation against Mohave County, a small rural county that planned to vote on implementing a hand count for the 2024 election instead of a machine count.

The county had sought a hand recount in 2022 but ultimately certified Democrat Katie Hobbs’s victory under duress after she threatened to charge them with felonies.

Charlie Kirk, leader of Arizona-based Turning Point USA released a statement condemning Wednesday’s indictments, which included Turning Point Action head Tyler Bowyer.

“These indictments, and this entire investigation, are a sinister effort to criminalize pursuing all legal and constitutional avenues for contesting a disputed election,” he tweeted.
