Ex-Cohen Attorney Leads to Merchan Meltdown in Trump Trial

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Corrupt Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan was beginning to feel the pressure on Monday in former President Donald Trump’s porn-star trial as the walls closed in on his own family’s role in lawfare case.

Meanwhile, the case itself simultaneously crumbled before him following catastrophic testimony from star witness Michael Cohen, and the judge furiously threatened to remove a defense witness who was further eroding both his and Cohen’s credibility.

In a return to the stand on Monday, Cohen himself admitted not only his willingness to lie for his own personal gain, but confessed to having stolen $30,000 from the Trump organization.

Robert Costello, who was Cohen’s former attorney before turning against him, later angered Merchan during afternoon testimony by allegedly making comments under his breath, rolling his eyes and calling the whole exercise “ridiculous,” prompting the judge to briefly kick reporters out of the courtroom to admonish him.

The judge told Costello, a former federal prosecutor, he was being “contemptuous,” adding, “If you try to stare me down one more time, I will remove you from the stand,” according to a court transcript.

As the stunning transcript reveals, the oversensitive Merchan appeared rightfully to be folding under the pressure of the case.

Some quicky questioned the judge’s decision, with legal expert Jonathan Turley, who was present at the trial during Cohen’s morning testimony, suggesting that Merchan was suffering from delusions.

Conservative investigative reporter Julie Kelly, who was busy covering the Florida mini-trial of special prosecutor Jack Smith, also took a moment to express her shock, calling it “jury tampering” after some in the jury box appeared to visibly question the judge’s biased rulings.

Trump responded following the end of the trial, when Merchan was caught on hot mic furiously ordering Costello off the witness stand.

““He just did something that nobody’s ever seen… they just got thrown out of the courthouse,” noted the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

He also called the judge a “tyrant” in his remarks to reporters while leaving the courthouse Monday and called the trial a “disaster” for the country.

Merchan has reason to feel the intense pressure as his daughter’s alleged role in a witness-tampering plot surfaced on Friday.

Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., who previously sent more than $160,000 in payments to Loren Merchan’s private residence in Richmond, Va., openly admitted that he had been involved with coaching Cohen prior to his testimony.

Headline USA emailed Loren Merchan and Juan Merchan on Friday, as well as Cohen, representatives of Goldman’s staff and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, inquiring why the revalation did not constitute a clear conflict of interests that should result in a dismissal in order to avoid a mistrial. None responded.

Meanwhile, conservative journalist and activist Laura Loomer, who broke the initial story about Goldman’s attempt to conceal his payments to Loren Merchan based on her examination of records from the Federal Election Commission, had another bombshell on Monday after uncovering an old Twitter account from Merchan’s son, Jordan, in which he called his dad the “biggest panzy [sic] ever.”

Merchan’s chaotic meltdown on Monday unfolded after prosecutors rested their case accusing Trump of falsifying business records stemming from what porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy bunny Karen McDougal alleged were decade-old affairs or trysts that Trump had during the early days of his marriage to future first lady Melania Trump.

Bragg, a George Soros-funded prosecutor who initially was reluctant to pursue the case, did so under pressure, despite it having surpassed the state statute of limitations, by attempting to upgrade the misdemeanor state law to felony federal counts.

However, doing so would be a stunning departure from precedent. Past Democratic political figures including both Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and former vice presidential candidate John Edwards all having received FEC wrist-slaps at best for arguably more serious situations. Those included multiple allegations of “hush-money” payments, the destruction of records to prevent their public dissemination and blurring the lines between public and private expenditures during a campaign.

A successful prosecution under federal law also would require Bragg and his prosecutors to establish that a second crime has been committed, which they have yet to do, although the jury’s knowledge of the legal standard will rest on the instructions given to them by Merchan. He has, thus far, allowed prosecutors to proceed under the false pretenses that Trump violated an election law.

Bragg’s more than 30 felony counts stem from internal Trump Organization records in which payments to Cohen, who was Trump’s lawyer at the time, were marked as “legal expenses.”

Prosecutors have sought to claim they were really reimbursements for a $130,000 “hush money” payment to Daniels to keep her from going public before the 2016 election. Trump says nothing sexual happened between them. In multiple letters prior to the case being filed, Daniels said the same thing.

After jurors left for the day Monday, defense attorneys pressed the judge to throw out the charges before jurors even begin deliberating, arguing prosecutors have failed to prove their case.

Defense attorney Todd Blanche argued that there was nothing illegal about soliciting a tabloid’s help to run positive stories about Trump, run negative stories about his opponents and identify potentially damaging stories before they were published. No one involved “had any criminal intent,” Blanche said.

“How is keeping a false story from the voters criminal?” Blanche asked.

Prosecutor Matthew Colangelo shot back that “the trial evidence overwhelmingly supports each element” of the alleged offenses and said the case should proceed to the jury.

The judge didn’t immediately rule on the defense’s request, although it was likely to be a long shot given Merchan’s demeanor.

Costello, who recently testified before the House weaponization subcommittee about the lawfare issue, had publicly offered to testify last week, saying he could debunk Cohen’s claims and prove he had perjured himself after their professional relationship splintered in spectacular fashion.

Costello had offered to represent Cohen soon after the lawyer’s hotel room, office and home were raided by the FBI as part of the now-debunked Mueller investigation into Russia collusion, which involved some of the same left-wing activists now attempting to prevent Trump from becoming president again.

Cohen faced a decision about whether to remain defiant in the face of a criminal investigation or to cooperate with authorities in hopes of securing more lenient treatment, ultimately throwing the sitting president under the bus in the hopes of saving himself. But his plan backfired nontheless after Cohen was caught lying to Congress and sent to jail.

Costello in the years since has repeatedly maligned Cohen’s credibility and was even a witness before last year’s grand jury that indicted Trump, offering testimony designed to undermine Cohen’s account. In a Fox News Channel interview last week, Costello accused Cohen of lying to the jury and using the case to “monetize” himself.

Costello told jurors Monday that Cohen told him Trump “knew nothing” about the payment to Daniels that his former client had volunteered in his blanket capacity overseeing Trump’s legal affairs.

“Michael Cohen said numerous times that President Trump knew nothing about those payments, that he did this on his own, and he repeated that numerous times,” Costello testified.

Cohen—although a convicted perjurer who readily admitted on the witness stand about his willingness to lie for personal gain—testified earlier Monday that he had “no doubt” that Trump gave him a final sign-off to make the payments to Daniels. In total, he said he spoke with Trump more than 20 times about the matter in October 2016.

Trump lawyer Emil Bove told the judge that the defense does not plan to call any other witnesses after Costello, though it may still call campaign finance expert Bradley A. Smith for limited testimony. It has not said definitively that Trump won’t testify, but that’s the clearest indication yet that he will waive his right to take the stand in his own defense.

Chinese Gold Demand Charted Another Strong Month in April

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) Despite a rising price, Chinese gold demand remained robust in April. Strong investment demand more than made up for some weakness in the gold jewelry market.

This continues a trend of gold moving from West to East.

China ranks as the number one gold consumer in the world.

The gold price was up about 5 percent in April in dollar terms. Gold charted a 3 percent gain based on the Shanghai Gold Benchmark. Year-to-date, gold is up about 14 percent in yuan terms. According to the World Gold Council, this is drawing continued attention from local investors.

The Shanghai Gold Exchange reported 131 tons of gold withdrawn in April. Metal moving out of the exchange correlates with Chinese gold demand. Gold withdraws were up 7 tons month-on-month and 10 tons year-on-year.

According to the World Gold Council, investment strength canceled weakness in jewelry demand.

“Anecdotal evidence suggests physical gold investment remained strong amid persistent value preservation needs and the rising gold price, especially during the first half of April. But the gold price strength made many jewelers cautious about re-stocking for the traditional Labour Day holiday sales boost.”

According to official data, China imported 85 tons of gold in March (Import data lags reports from the Shanghai Gold Exchange). That was an 8 percent rise month-on-month. This pushed the first quarter gold import total to 324 tons, a 17 percent increase from the same period in 2023. It was the strongest quarter for gold imports since 2015.

A rise in the local premium also indicates strong gold demand. The premium rose to $42 an ounce on a monthly average, up $16 from the previous month.

Meanwhile, Chinese gold-backed ETFs saw net inflows of metal for the fifth straight month. This bucks the global trend which is gold flowing OUT of ETFs.

About 9 billion yuan ($1.3 billion) in gold flowed into Chinese funds, a monthly record. Total gold holdings rose by 17 tons in April. Assets under management in Chinese ETFs stand at a historical high of 46 billion yuan ($6.4 billion).

Meanwhile, the People’s Bank of China added another 2 tons of gold to its official reserves in April. It was the 18th straight month of gold buying by the Chinese central bank.

China’s official gold holdings now stand at 2,264 tons, and they make up 4.9 percent of its total foreign exchange reserves. That’s the highest percentage on record.

China may hold far more gold than it officially reports. As Jim Rickards pointed out on Mises Daily back in 2015, many analysts believe that China keeps several thousand tons of gold “off the books” in a separate entity called the State Administration for Foreign Exchange (SAFE).

It’s clear that the Chinese have a strong appetite for gold and they seem to be getting even hungrier.

Chinese, and more generally Asian, gold demand has helped drive the recent gold bull market. Gold has gained about 22 percent since mid-February.  According to the World Gold Council, demand will likely remain strong.

“Jewelry consumption may remain weak amid seasonality and the elevated gold price. But despite some signs of weakening, we believe the continuing need for value preservation and gold’s current high profile will likely support gold investment in China.”

All That Glitters Isn’t Gold: Silver Has Outperformed Gold During This Gold Bull Run

(Mike Maharrey, Money Metals News Service) All that glitters isn’t gold. Silver also has quite a shine lately.

While gold has gotten the headlines, silver has had a solid bull run over the last several months. In fact, the white metal has outperformed gold in this gold bull market.

Last week, silver charted an 11 percent gain, cracking $30 an ounce for the first time in over a decade.

And since its low in February, Silver is up over 41 percent. Meanwhile, gold is up about 22 percent in the same period.

This might seem unusual, but it’s not. Silver typically outperforms gold in a gold bull market.

For instance, gold charted a gain of around 40 percent during the pandemic. Meanwhile, silver was up a whopping 141 percent!

This is because despite most focus being on its industrial demand, silver is fundamentally a monetary metal, and its price generally tracks with gold over time.

Peter Krauth, author of The Great Silver Bull pointed out during a recent interview that silver was money even before gold.

“Because silver relative to gold has a lower value by weight, it is easier to use in daily transactions. I’ve heard before, a few times, that it’s estimated that throughout history, there has been more business transacted through silver than gold, because gold is a way that you store wealth rather than use it to transact. Obviously, it makes for great money, and it makes for ideal money when you’re doing larger transactions because you need to transport less and move less around to make large payments. … Today, a silver maple or a silver eagle, let’s say, roughly worth about $30, $35 or so, is a few hours of labor. You could technically go out and buy groceries with that, pay for some meals, pay for some gasoline. It really is a daily, natural form of money compared to gold. You’d need to have fractions of an ounce of gold to pay for things. All of these reasons, I think, explain why it makes, and has made a perfect kind of money.”

Since silver and gold are both money, it makes sense that their prices would generally track together over time.

Silver Is Still Underpriced

Despite the recent gains, silver is still underpriced compared to gold.

The gold-silver ratio is a tool that investors use to track the price of silver and gold relative to each other. Today, that ratio still stands at 76:1. That means it takes about 76 ounces of silver to buy one ounce of gold. Or you can look at it the other way and say one ounce of gold will buy 76 ounces of silver.

To put the current gold-silver ratio into historical context, in the modern era, it has averaged between 40-1 and 60-1. Over the last 20 years, it has averaged 68-1.

In other words, even with the recent rally in the silver price, the gold-silver ratio is still above the 20-year average and far above the average in the modern era. This indicates the price of silver still needs to increase by a sizeable amount to close the gap.

We have also seen that when the gold-silver ratio gets far above the high end of that historical average, it tends to snap back to the mean with a vengeance.

For instance, in 2020, the gold-silver ratio set a record of 123-1 as COVID hysteria gripped the world and then plunged to around 60-1 as central banks around the world cranked up the money creation machine to cope with governments shutting down economies.

In another example of this big correction, the gold-silver ratio fell to 30-1 in 2011 after rising to over 80-1 during the money creation of the Great Recession in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.

From a historical perspective, when you see gold-silver ratios well above their historical average, it tells you that silver is underpriced compared to gold. That indicates there is a strong possibility that silver will go on a bull run to close that gap. Historically, this has often happened in the midst of a gold bull rally.

The recent silver rally has been impressive and there is reason to believe it still has legs. If you’re bullish on gold, you should probably be even more bullish on silver.

Fetterman Stumbles into Crockett Catfight w/ Marjorie Greene, Gets Clawed by AOC

(Headline USA) Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., blasted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio–Cortez, D-N.Y., this week for suggesting he was a bully after he mocked her cat-fight with other representatives during a recent hearing.

Ocasio–Cortez was involved in a spat with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., during a House Oversight Committee hearing over whether Attorney General Merrick Garland should be held in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena.

Fetterman mocked the viral interaction as being worse than the Jerry Springer Show, the notorious 1990s-era talkshow known for its onstage brawls and trashy behavior.

Ocasio–Cortez shot back, saying, “I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one. I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a ‘both sides’ issue.”

Fetterman called Ocasio–Cortez’s comment “absurd” when asked about on CNN’s State of the Union over the weekend.

“I was just simply responding to the kind of chaos and everything that Rep. Greene started as well,” he said.

“And if everyone on the committee was proud of what they‘ve produced, they are entitled to their opinion,” he continued. “Or if they feel that this is the kind of a video that you want to send to a classroom of 8th grade civics kind of students across America, that’s their choice.”

The episode notoriously culminated with Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, calling Greene a “bleach blonde bad built butch body.”

She has doubled down on the remark since then, continuing to use bombastic, race-baiting rhetoric while maintaining she is “smarter” than her MAGA counterparts.

Fetterman has been increasingly at odds with the left flank of the Democratic Party, even going so far as to separate himself from the “progressive” label earlier this year.

“I’m not a progressive,” the Pennsylvania Democrat told NBC News. “I just think I’m a Democrat that is very committed to choice and other things.”

Fetterman specifically cited immigration and the U.S.’s support of Israel as issues that he has broken with the Left on.

“With Israel, I’m going to be on the right side of that. And immigration is something near and dear to me, and I think we do have to effectively address it as well,” he explained.

Biden Greeted By Nonexistent Crowd in Crucial Swing State Georgia

(Headline USA) President Joe Biden traveled to swing state Georgia over the weekend but was greeted by an almost non-existent crowd.

The 81-year-old stopped in Atlanta to hold a fundraiser in Buckhead on Saturday before heading to Morehouse College to deliver the school’s commencement address.

Video footage of his arrival shows largely empty streets greeting Biden’s motorcade, with just a few people standing around to film it.

“If a presidential motorcade passes through town but absolutely nobody cares—id it really pass through town?” the Republican National Committee’s research arm said on X.

At the Atlanta fundraiser, Biden blasted his opponent, former President Donald Trump, and lauded Georgia voters as the reason he won in 2020.

“If you ever doubt the power of the vote, I say come to Georgia. You are the reason I won. Georgia is the reason I’m president right now,” Biden told supporters.

The claim comes despite a recent bombshell from the state elections board confirming that there were a significant number of double-scanned ballots in Fulton County and that the county was unable to account for more than 17,000 votes. Biden won the state by less than 12,000.

At Morehouse College, the historically black school where he delivered the commencement address, Biden was met with a crowd—but not of supporters.

Instead, students greeted him with protests for his continued support of Israel.

Other students also expressed frustration with Biden’s political pandering.

“The general feeling on the ground is that we don’t want him here,” a student named Malik told WSB-TV in Atlanta earlier this month when Biden’s speech was announced. “It’s very obvious that we’re being used to score political points and get more black votes. It is so obvious that it’s just about the presidential campaign.”

Trump, on the other hand, has continued to draw massive crowds of supporters at his campaign events. In deep blue New Jersey, for example, anywhere between 80,000 and 100,000 people turned out to see the former president.

“We’re going to win New Jersey,” he told the crowd. “As you can see today, we’re expanding the electoral map because … we’re going to win the state of New Jersey. I think we’re going to win them all. All across America, millions of people, so-called blue states, are joining our movement based on love, intelligence, and a thing called common sense.”

Cardi B Says She Won’t Endorse or Vote for Biden Again: ‘People Got Betrayed’

(Headline USA) Call him a W.U.P.—“washed-up president.”

Rapper Cardi B revealed last week that she will not vote for President Joe Biden again despite endorsing him in 2020, citing his “frustrating” lies and failed economic policies.

Cardi B claimed Biden’s four years in office have been marked by “layers of disappointment,” including the high cost of living and continued inflationary prices.

“I feel like people got betrayed,” she told Rolling Stone magazine.

“It’s just like, d***, y’all not caring about nobody. Then, it really gets me upset that there is solutions to it—there is a solution,” she continued. “I know there’s a solution because you’re spending billions of dollars on any f***ing thing.”

This isn’t the first time Cardi B has blasted Biden for high inflation. In January 2023, she posted a video on social media complaining about the price of groceries.

“What the f*** is going on?” she asked at the time. “Lettuce was like $2 a couple months ago and now it’s like f***ing $7, of course I’m [going to] say something. The f***?”

The rapper endorsed Biden back in 2020 after initially supporting Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

This year, however, Cardi B said she does not plan to endorse—or vote for—any political candidate.

“I’m not endorsing no f***ing presidents no more, because how is there a $100 million budget cut in New York City for f***ing schools, library, police safety, and sanitation?” she said.

Cardi B is the latest celebrity to renounce her support of Biden. Earlier this year, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also admitted he regrets endorsing Biden in 2020 and that he will not publicly announce his support for a political candidate this year.

“The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was one I thought was the best decision for me at that time. I realize now going into this election, I will not do that, my goal is to bring this country together,” he said.

Stanford Univ. Now Has 177 DEI Employees

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Stanford University now employs at least 177 people whose task is to indoctrinate students with DEI propaganda.

This represents an increase of nearly 100 employees in three years, as it was revealed in the 2021 research by the Heritage Foundation that there were 80 DEI staffers at the university during that year.

The current list of 177 indoctrinators was compiled by an anonymous researcher, conservative education activist Christopher Rufo reported.

“Given Stanford’s current trajectory, DEI will likely keep growing. At each step, it will degrade the quality of scholarship and academic rigor. The question is whether dissenters—professors, students and alumni who reject the ideological capture of the university—will have enough power to dislodge more than 100 full-time bureaucrats” Rufo wrote.

He then wrote that the university president probably wouldn’t have the backbone to push back against the woke ideologues.

“Stanford’s new interim president, Richard Saller, was hired in part to moderate ideological influence on campus. But according to sources familiar with Saller in his previous role as dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences, he probably lacks the strength to push back against DEI,” Rufo wrote.

The DEI research included the name and title of each Stanford DEI employee, including 10 different university-level administrators, such as vice provosts, vice presidents, directors and managers and another six DEI officials in the admissions office, the College Fix reported.

The law school, computer science department, neurosciences institute, Graduate School of Business, Haas Center for Public Service and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs all have one or two employees dedicated to spreading the DEI propaganda.

The Stanford School of Medicine went as far as employing 16 different DEI staffers, including a chief DEI officer, senior executive director for DEI, special advisor to DEI programs, associate director of DEI community partnerships, diversity coordinator and senior director of DEI pediatrics.

Additionally, 15 Stanford “IDEAL Initiative” scholars were included in the list. IDEAL stands for “Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access in a Learning Environment.”

Trump Jokes about Being ‘Three-Term’ President, Leftists Go Insane

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) During a weekend speech, Donald Trump joked about running for a third term, which resulted in leftists going crazy and thinking that he said that seriously.

While giving his speech to the National Rifle Association at the group’s annual meeting, Trump remembered the four terms of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who extended his stay in the White House after World War II started, Trending Politics reported.

“You know, FDR 16 years — almost 16 years — he was four terms. I don’t know, are we going to be considered three-term? Or two-term? You tell me,” Trump said, with the audience roaring in approval.

Joe Biden’s campaign quickly responded to the remark by intentionally misinterpreting that Trump wants to “violate the Constitution,” despite Trump’s previous statement back in April 2024, that he wouldn’t be in favor of abolishing or skirting the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment that was enacted in 1944 to limit future presidents to two four-year terms.

“I wouldn’t be in favor of it at all. I intend to serve four years and do a great job. And I want to bring our country back. I want to put it back on the right track. Our country is going down. We’re a failing nation right now. We’re a nation in turmoil,” Trump said.

Next month, Trump would be able to point out during the upcoming debate with Biden how the current occupier of the White House struggles to “put two sentences together,” as he said last week.

However, during the speech, Trump also said that he wanted to see Biden tested for drugs, joking about the fact that Biden was drugged right before the State of the Union just so that he would be able to give a speech.

“He did that State of the Union the other day – he was high as a kite. So I think we should call for drug tests in the debate,” he said.

Biden Claims He Was VP During Pandemic, Says ‘Something Snapped in Trump’

(Headline USA) In his latest gaffe, President Joe Biden appeared to claim he was vice president during the pandemic and that former President Barack Obama sent him to Detroit to help with the response.

Biden made the comment while speaking at an NAACP campaign event in Michigan Sunday night.

“When I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic,” Biden said, according to the New York Post. “And, what happened was Barack said to me: ‘Go to Detroit—help fix it.’”

Obama’s term ended in 2017, three years before the COVID-19 pandemic, although there were two minor epidemics during the Obama era related to swine flu and the Ebola virus.

Elsewhere in his speech, Biden blasted former President Donald Trump, who was in the White House at the start of the pandemic.

“Trump is trying to make the country forget just how dark things were… when he was president,” Biden said.

“We will never forget him lying about how serious the pandemic was, telling Americans ‘just inject bleach,’” Biden continued, pushing a bogus story that the media widely disseminated as serious despite the fact that Trump was not being serious at the time. “I think that’s what he did. I think that’s why he’s so screwy.”

In another jab, Biden warned against Trump potentially nominating more justices to the Supreme Court.

“Do you think he’ll put anybody [there] who has a brain?” Biden said.

The 81-year-old, apparently unaware of the gaffe he made earlier, then went on to suggest that Trump is not mentally fit to be reelected.

“It’s clear when he lost in 2020—and I mean this sincerely—something snapped in Trump,” Biden claimed. “He just can’t accept he lost… That’s why Jan. 6 happened.”

Biden has stepped up his attacks on Trump in recent weeks, likely due to poor polling that shows Biden significantly behind in crucial swing states.

The latest Fox News poll, for example, found 46% of registered voters in Michigan support Biden, while 49% support Trump. Two years ago, Biden led Trump by 8 percentage points in the Great Lakes State.

George Clooney’s Wife Backs Globalist Plot to Charge Bibi w/ War Crimes

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Amal Clooney, the wife of actor George Clooney, has come under scrutiny for her role on the expert panel at the International Criminal Court (ICC), which endorsed the issuance of an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials.

At the center of the arrest warrants is Netanyahu’s alleged role in what the left has described as war crimes against Palestinians following the Hamas invasion of southern Israel on Oct. 7.

The revelation of Amal Clooney’s connection to the contentious arrest warrants was first reported by Mediate. Her name appeared in a 13-page report that unanimously supported the prosecutor’s decision to proceed with the warrants.

As detailed in the report, Amal Clooney is a professor at Columbia Law School and co-founder of the Clooney Foundation for Justice.

However, critics argue that the arrest warrants overlook the context of Israel’s actions, particularly in response to the Oct. 7 invasion by Hamas against Israel.

Israel’s defense against Hamas aggression has raised questions about the so-called fairness and impartiality of the ICC’s decision.

While the warrants await approval from an ICC judge, concerns persist about the perceived bias in the panel’s deliberations.

The panel convened in January 2024, asserting its pro bono and independent operation in the report.

“It has unanimously reached all of the views contained in this Report,” the panel stated. “It will set out its key reasoning below, but notes that it cannot disclose any material that is currently confidential.”

In an editorial for the Financial Times, the panel defended the arrest warrants, claiming, “There is no doubt that the step taken today by the prosecutor is a milestone in the history of international criminal law.”

Critics argue that the arrest warrants conflate Israeli self-defense acts to those of Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7.

Hamas leaders, including Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh, also faced arrest warrants approved by the panel.
