RFK Jr. Accuses CNN, Trump, Biden of Excluding Him from Upcoming Debate

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. filed a complaint on May 28, 2024, in which he said that CNN, Joe Biden and Donald Trump violated federal campaign and debate rules by preventing him from participating in the upcoming debate next month.

Trump and Biden were scheduled to meet face-to-face at the network’s Atlanta headquarters on June 27, 2024, with no third-party candidates involved, the New York Post reported.

CNN “colluded” with the Biden and Trump teams to exclude RFK Jr. from joining the debate by employing “criteria designed to result in the selection of certain pre-chosen candidates,” Kennedy’s team said.

In the complaint, the team also mentioned a report by the Washington Post from May 17, 2024, about the Biden team collaborating with CNN so that RFK Jr. would not be involved.

CNN responded to the complaint by citing its eligibility thresholds for debates, which require a candidate to appear “on a sufficient number of state ballots to reach the 270 electoral vote threshold to win the presidency prior to the eligibility deadline” and attain “at least 15% in four separate national polls of registered or likely voters that meet CNN’s standards for reporting,” the news source reported.

“The law in virtually every state provides that the nominee of a state-recognized political party will be allowed ballot access without petitioning… Both Biden and Trump will satisfy this requirement. As an independent candidate, under applicable laws, RFK, Jr. does not,” CNN’s spokesperson said.

RFK Jr. said that he has enough signatures to be on the ballot in 15 states that award 229 electoral votes. However, the process to get on the ballot is ongoing and many of the signatures have yet to be officially verified.

Additionally, RFK Jr. is averaging 12% support in polling, which is below the 15% threshold.

“The mere application for ballot access does not guarantee that he will appear on the ballot in any state. In addition, RFK, Jr. does not currently meet our polling criteria, which, like the other objective criteria, were set before issuing invitations to the debate,” the spokesperson said.

RFK Jr. has until June 20, 2024, to hit those metrics.

Hunter’s Baby Mama to Release Tell-All Book Two Weeks Before Tax-Evasion Trial

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Tony Lyons, co-chairman of a super-PAC supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and president of Skyhorse Publishing, announced the publishing of a book by Lunden Roberts, the mother of Hunter Biden’s love child, according to CNBC.

Roberts gave birth to a daughter, Navy Joan Biden, in 2018.

Reports indicated that Biden never met his daughter, but he agreed last year to pay child support after a paternity test confirmed the little girl, now 5, was his and following a protracted court battle that was undoubtedly damaging his father’s public image.

Lyons not only approved the publishing of the book through his company, but also threw his support behind RFK’s 2024 bid for the White House via the American Values 2024 Super PAC, which he helped start.

The actions taken by Lyons between his work at Skyhorse and AV24 are not officially related; however, he claimed the contents of the book, titled Out of the Shadows: My Life Inside the Wild World of Hunter Biden, may “impact the outcome of the 2024 election” while painting a very detailed and graphic picture of how Biden spends his time.

“Out of the Shadows chronicles that rollercoaster ride of a relationship, touching on the drug cook working in Rosemont Seneca’s kitchen, strip clubs where Hunter might try the pole himself, protecting him from would-be terrorists in New York City, the night she grabbed two guns and was certain she would have to fatally shoot a crazed MMA fighter, and dozens of other stories that make the laptop debacle seem routine,” according to a summary.

A tantalizing excerpt from it described the stark contrast between Hunter Biden’s life of wealth, privilege and access on one hand, and his dark, degenerate nature on the other:

“He was sitting there wearing nothing but parrot boxer briefs, organizing his pipes on his Rosemont Seneca desk. I was sitting in Barack Obama’s actual chair from the Senate floor. I took another look at Hunter – this kind, intense, and startlingly transparent man – and thought, ‘this is definitely a guy I want to get to know better.'”

The 304-page memoir is due to be released Aug. 20, with a jacket price of $32.99.

Hunter’s California trial for tax-evasion, at which his child-support court battle may arise, is scheduled to begin just two weeks later, on Sept. 5.

AV24 raised $49.6 million and spent $29.2 million so far this election cycle. Skyhorse Publishing donated $154,920 to the PAC.

Skyhorse previously published books by Kennedy, including The Wuhan Cover Up and the Terrifying Bioweapons Arms Race, and The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma, and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health.

Lyons previously made statements against censorship and has a history of publishing books by anti-establishment mavericks, including former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, and former British Prime Minister Liz Truss, offering some clue as to his own political inclinations.

However, emphasizing his the bipartisan nature of Skyhorse, he noted that the publisher has printed works by the daughter of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and another book with a forward by now-President Joe Biden.

Gaslighting Jill Biden Claims Trump ‘Can’t Put a Sentence Together’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) First Lady Jill Biden recently criticized former President Donald Trump, claiming he “can’t put a sentence together”—a remark that seems ironic, given her husband’s frequent gaffes.

During the Wednesday episode of ABC News’s The View on Wednesday, co-host Joy Behar remarked that Trump “can’t put a sentence together and has, like, brain farts in the middle of his paragraphs.”

Jill Biden echoed Behar’s sentiment, saying, “You’re gonna see how smart [Joe Biden] is and the experience he has.” She continued, “And then you’ll see somebody who, like you’re saying — I’m going to use Joy’s words — ‘can’t put a sentence together.’”

Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt responded sharply, “With all due respect to first lady Jill Biden, her husband is a walking zombie who can’t climb up stairs, talk, or read a script off a teleprompter.”

Leavitt suggested that Trump is poised for victory in the 2024 election and that the Biden family will soon be evicted from the White House.

“Rather than go on ‘The View’ and spew lies about President Trump to save her husband’s dying campaign, she should start packing her corrupt family’s bags because they’ll be leaving the White House very soon,” Leavitt added.

Jill Biden’s appearance on The View comes as the Biden campaign struggles to gain momentum ahead of the 2024 election.

Despite the First Lady’s attacks on Trump, her husband has been historically plagued by gaffes, incoherent sentences and difficulties with mobility.

American voters are likely paying close attention as polls indicate that Trump is gaining traction and could be heading toward victory in the upcoming election.

Biden Bungles Launch of 8-Figure Outreach Effort to Woo Back Blacks

(Headline USA) President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris got off to a rough start in what was touted as an aggressive and lofty plan to win back black voters who have strayed from the Democrat plantation due to the administration’s awful stewardship and often cavalier, exploitative way of dealing with race.

The duo set out to launch a new black voter outreach effort during a visit to the battleground state of Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

Speaning to a nearly empty room at Girard College, an independent, predominately black boarding school in Philadelphia, Biden characteristically stumbled over his words on multiple occasions.

He appeared at one point to confuse Franklin D. Roosevelt with Benjamin Franklin, suggesting that the president who ushered us through World War II had discovered electricity while also using the internet.

The Philadelphia visit—which also included a visit to a small business to speak to members of the Black Chamber of Commerce—was the start of what the campaign describing as an eight-figure, summerlong effort to engage black student organizations, community groups and faith centers.

“We will continue to be aggressive, innovative, and thorough in our work to earn the support of the very voters who sent Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House in 2020 and will do so again in 2024,” said Quentin Fulks, Biden’s principal deputy campaign manager.

The push comes at a moment when Biden has seen his solid support among black voters show signs of alarming erosion—and his rival, former President Donald Trump, rushing to take advantage of the growing disaffection among minorities with his own successful outreach strategy.

Among black adults, Biden’s approval has dropped from 94% when he started his term to just 55%, according to a poll published in March by the Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

The economy has been a particular thorn in Biden’s side since 2022, when inflation hit a 40-year high. But there have also been signs of discontent in the black community over his controversial open-borders policy, with many struggling inner-city residents now forced to compete for services against a growing pool of illegal immigrants.

Turning out black voters could prove pivotal for Biden’s chances in what are expected to be among the most closely contested states—Arizona, Georgia, Michigan Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Trump, for his part, has been offering himself as a better president for black voters than Biden. At a rally last week in the Bronx, he railed against Biden on immigration and said “the biggest negative impact” of the influx of migrants in New York is “against our black population and our Hispanic population who are losing their jobs, losing their housing, losing everything they can lose.”

Biden’s effort to transfer billions in student-loan debt has disproportionately impacted upper- and middle-class black borrowers, although questions loom about its constitutionality after the Supreme Court ruled one such effort was illegal.

Yet, for blacks who did not go to college, whether by their own choice or not, they, like other taxpayers, are now obligated to assume the financial burden from deadbeat borrowers who failed to pay their federal loans back.

Biden also points to his appointment of Ketanji Brown Jackson as the first black female justice on the U.S. Supreme Court and his pick of Harris as the first black woman to serve as vice president.

However, Democrats continue to relentlessly attack Clarence Thomas, the only black male Supreme Court justice, underscoring that their motives are not based in racial equanimity so much as their own political advantage.

The same is true of Trump’s prospective vice presidential candidates, including Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla.; Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.; and former HUD Secretary Ben Carson, all of whom are black men who have been smeared with nasty racial invective by the Biden campaign and its surrogates.

A growing number of blacks—and men in particular—have come to identify with Trump due to the lawfare attacks against him, seeing him as an iconoclastic hero taking on the corrupt justice system.

Meanwhile, many resent the Left’s overt attempts to pander to them while otherwise taking their community and votes for granted by allowing crime and cost of living to run rampant.

The president’s visit to Philadelphia follows on a series of engagements with black community members in recent weeks, including a poorly received commencement address at Morehouse College in Atlanta where some students wondered why he was there and others turned their backs on him.

‘You’re an Idiot’: Joy Reid Fumbles When Challenged by Conservative in NYC

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) MSNBC host and leftist mouthpiece Joy Reid recently faced a confrontation with a conservative personality who questioned her about “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and her distinctive hairstyle.

“Joy, just wondering: Do you think people with Trump Derangement Syndrome know they have it?” asked Ben Bergquam, host of Real America’s Voice’s Law & Border, as he encountered Reid on the streets of New York City.

In response, Reid retorted, “You’re an idiot.”

Bergquam asked whether the MSNBC host stole, “Trump’s haircut or did he steal yours?” He added, “Cultural appropriation right there!”

“She didn’t like that too much,” Bergquam said, smiling. “Joy Reid, everybody! Trump Derangement Syndrome, full swing.”

Reid was in New York City attending the trial of former President Donald Trump, who is facing charges of allegedly falsifying business records. The case is led by Alvin Bragg, the Soros-backed Manhattan district attorney.

The charges are now before the jury, which will determine whether Trump is guilty or innocent.

Reid has become a vocal critic of Trump and conservatives.

According to blogs shared by the Media Research Center, Reid has attacked Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito as a “lawless individual” for flying a flag on his house.

Last week, Reid complained that the media was not calling Trump a Nazi enough, according to the Media Research Center.

Her claims followed Trump’s brief posting of a video on Truth Social that flashed the words “unified Reich” on a newspaper clip.

“As per usual, much of the media is downplaying the fact that the Republican nominee is once again using Nazi language,” Reid claimed.

“Donald Trump was proud that someone once compared him to Adolf Hitler,” she falsely stated.

Update: Early Signs Point to Hung Jury in Trump Porn-Star Sex Trial

UPDATE: Early Signs Point to Hung Jury in Trump Porn-Star Sex Trial

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) Corrupt New York judge Juan Merchan dismissed the jury for the day following several hours of deliberation after receiving a note that asked for him to reread his convoluted and capricious instructions.

According to legal expert Jonathan Turley, the need for clarification on the instructions likely signals disagreement in their ranks—a very good sign for lovers of American jurisprudence and supporters of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

During last week’s discussion about the jury instructions, which saw the two sides hashing out the various standards and Merchan, characteristically, giving the benefit to the prosecution, the judge issued the alarming suggestion that he wanted “to make it as easily [sic] as possible for the jury.”

That comment, although seemingly innocuous, raised red flags since the most likely outcome in Trump’s favor is a hung jury, in which the 12 members fail to reach a unanimous decision to convict or acquit.

Most assume that in the stacked Manhattan courtroom, there will be at least a few who are determined to convict the former president no matter what, so the wheels of justice are turning on whether at least one member will be unmoved by the highly circumstantial evidence enough to say there is reasonable doubt of Trump’s guilt.

Some Trump insiders who were present for the trial offered hope that there was a lone jury member who appeared sympathetic to Trump throughout the trial, The Bulwark reported.

The juror—who may have indicated on his initial screening questionnaire that he got his news from Trump’s Truth Social platform—has occasionally made eye contact with the defendant and walked directly past the table where he sits, has appeared to nod along with some of the defense arguments and recognized prominent Republican lawmakers in the audience.

Nonetheless, prognosticators were careful not to read too much into any of the signs at this point, as it could also be a juror deliberately going out of his way to mislead the defense.

“They’re hoping for a single juror to give them a mistrial and they’re looking at tea leaves like ‘Are jurors making eye contact?’ as evidence that gives them hope,” former federal prosecotor Mitchell Epner told The Bulwark.

“But no one knows,” he added. “Even if an oracle sometimes got it right, at the end of the day, they’re just looking at bird guts.”

Jury Deliberations Begin in Soros DA’s Lawfare Trial over Trump’s Alleged Porn-Star Sex

(Headline USA) Jury deliberations began Wednesday in Donald Trump’s porn-star trial, placing the outcome of the history-making case in the hands of a dozen New Yorkers who have vowed to be fair and impartial in the face of their unprecedented task.

The jury of seven men and five women was sent to a private room just before 11:30 a.m. to begin weighing a verdict in the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president.

The jurors’ discussions will be secret, though they can send notes to the judge asking to rehear testimony or see evidence. That’s also how they will notify the court of a verdict, or if they are unable to reach one.

“It is not my responsibility to judge the evidence here. It is yours,” Judge Juan M. Merchan told jurors after facing weeks of heavy criticism for his biased approach, which included denying motions to the defense on potentially exculpatory witnesses while granting extraordinary leeway to the prosecution, which never specified the requisite second crime Trump would need to be charged with for the charges to stick.

Instead, Merchan offered the jurors a menu of options for the second crime while saying they need not agree on what crime it was in order to convict the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Trump struck a pessimistic tone after leaving the courtroom following an hourlong reading of jury instructions, repeating his assertions of a “very unfair trial” and saying: “Mother Theresa could not beat these charges. These charges are rigged.”

Trump and his lawyers, along with prosecutors, were instructed to remain inside the courthouse during deliberations. He learned back in his chair and closed his eyes as Merchan told jurors at the outset of the day that he would take about an hour to read the instructions. As the instructions continued, he wrote notes that he showed to one of his lawyers.

Trump is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records at his company in connection with an alleged scheme to hide potentially embarrassing stories about him during his 2016 Republican presidential election campaign.

The charge,a misdemeanor under New York law, was upgraded to a federal felony by George Soros-backed district attorney Alvin Bragg in order to circumvent the fact that the statute of limitations already had lapsed.

The case hinges around reimbursements paid to then-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen after he made a $130,000 payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels as part of a nondisclosure agreement.

Trump is accused of misrepresenting Cohen’s reimbursements as legal expenses to hide that they were tied to that payment. However, the payment itself was not illegal, and the case rests largely on whether prosecutors were able to convince the jury that Trump deliberately falsified business records in order to alter the outcome of the election.

Trump has pleaded not guilty and contends the Cohen payments were for legitimate legal services. He has also denied the alleged extramarital sexual encounter with Daniels.

To convict Trump, the jury will have to find unanimously that Trump created a fraudulent entry in his company’s records, or caused someone else to do so, and that he did so with the intent of committing or concealing another crime.

While prosecutors say Trump committed or hid is a violation of a New York election law making it illegal for two or more conspirators “to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means,” experts note that it is highly irregular now for Bragg to attach a New York state crime to the federal charges, particularly since Trump was not running for a state-level office and did not win the election in New York.

The jurors—a diverse cross-section of Manhattan residents and professional backgrounds although suspected to lean heavily to the left side of the political spectrum—often appeared riveted by testimony in the trial, including from Cohen and Daniels. Many took notes and watched intently as witnesses answered questions from Manhattan prosecutors and Trump’s lawyers.

Jurors started deliberating after a marathon day of closing arguments in which a prosecutor spoke for more than five hours, underscoring the burden the district attorney’s office faces in needing to establish Trump’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

A defense lawyer spoke for about half that time; the Trump team need not establish his innocence to avoid a conviction but must instead bank on at least one juror finding that prosecutors have not sufficiently proved their case.

Earlier Wednesday, the jury received instructions in the law from Merchan, who offered some guidance on factors the panel can use to assess witness testimony, including its plausibility, its consistency with other testimony, the witness’s manner on the stand and whether the person has a motive to lie.

But, the judge said, “there is no particular formula for evaluating the truthfulness and accuracy of another person’s statement.”

The principles he outlined are standard but perhaps all the more relevant after Trump’s defense leaned heavily on questioning the credibility of key prosecution witnesses, including Cohen.

Merchan also instructed jurors on the concept of accessorial liability, under which a defendant can be held criminally responsible for someone else’s actions.

That’s a key component of the prosecution’s theory of the case because, while Trump signed some of the checks at issue, people working for his company processed Cohen’s invoices and entered the transactions into its accounting system.

In order to hold Trump liable for those actions, Merchan said jurors must find beyond a reasonable doubt that he solicited, requested or commanded those people to engage in that conduct and that he acted intentionally.

“No one is saying the defendant actually got behind a computer and typed in the false vouchers or stamped the false invoices or printed the false checks,” prosecutor Joshua Steinglass told jurors during his marathon closing argument Tuesday. “But he set in motion a chain of events that led to the creation of the false business records.”

Any verdict must be unanimous. During deliberations, six alternate jurors who also sat through every minute of the trial will be kept at the courthouse in a separate room in case they are needed to replace a juror who falls ill or is otherwise unavailable.

If that happens, deliberations will start anew once the replacement juror is in place.

OpenAI Forms Safety Committee, Starts Training New AI Model to Replace ChatGPT System

(Headline USA) OpenAI says it’s setting up a safety and security committee and has begun training a new artificial intelligence model to supplant the GPT-4 system that underpins its ChatGPT chatbot.

The San Francisco startup said in a blog post Tuesday that the committee will advise the full board on “critical safety and security decisions” for its projects and operations.

The safety committee arrives as debate swirls around AI safety at the company, which was thrust into the spotlight after a researcher, Jan Leike, resigned and leveled criticism at OpenAI for letting safety “take a backseat to shiny products.”

OpenAI co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever also resigned, and the company disbanded the “superalignment” team focused on AI risks that they jointly led.

Leike said Tuesday he’s joining rival AI company Anthropic, founded by ex-OpenAI leaders, to “continue the superalignment mission” there.

OpenAI said it has “recently begun training its next frontier model” and its AI models lead the industry on capability and safety, though it made no mention of the controversy. “We welcome a robust debate at this important moment,” the company said.

AI models are prediction systems that are trained on vast datasets to generate on-demand text, images, video and human-like conversation. Frontier models are the most powerful, cutting edge AI systems.

The safety committee is filled with company insiders, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Chairman Bret Taylor, and four OpenAI technical and policy experts. It also includes board members Adam D’Angelo, who’s the CEO of Quora, and Nicole Seligman, a former Sony general counsel.

The committee’s first job will be to evaluate and further develop OpenAI’s processes and safeguards and make its recommendations to the board in 90 days. The company said it will then publicly release the recommendations it’s adopting “in a manner that is consistent with safety and security.”

Ryan Salame, Part of ‘Inner Circle’ at Collapsed Crypto Exchange FTX, Sentenced to Prison

(Headline USA) A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced former FTX executive Ryan Salame to more than seven years in prison, the first of the lieutenants of failed cryptocurrency mogul Sam Bankman-Fried to receive jail time for their roles in the 2022 collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange.

Salame, 30, was a high-ranking executive at FTX for most of the exchange’s existence and, up until its collapse, was the co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets. He pleaded guilty last year to illegally making unlawful U.S. campaign contributions and to operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business.

Along with helping Bankman–Fried hide the holes in FTX’s balance sheet that ultimately led to the exchange’s failure, Salame was used as a conduit for Bankman-Fried to make illegal campaign contributions to help shape U.S. policy on cryptocurrencies.

While Bankman–Fried and FTX funneled nearly $100 million to mostly Democrat candidates and causes, including dark-money organizations, during the 2022 election cycle, Salame notably donated $20 million in contributions to Republican campaigns in his own name.

Ultimately, though, the funds that Salame used for those contributions also came from Bankman–Fried, who is accused of greasing the wheels on both sides of the aisle to hedge himself against the possibility of investigation or accountability.

For a while, at least, the strategy appeared to work, until spooked FTX traders attempted to withdraw their funds as the exchange’s flaws began to show.

Salame’s sentence of 7½ years in prison, plus three years of supervised release, was more than the five to seven years prosecutors had asked radical leftist Judge Lewis A. Kaplan to impose on Salame in their pre-sentencing memo.

While Salame was a high-level executive at FTX, he was not a major part of the government’s case against Bankman–Fried at his trial earlier this year and did not testify against him.

In a bid for leniency, Salame said during the sentencing hearing that he cooperated and even provided documents that aided prosecutors in their cross examination of Bankman–Fried, as well as in his own prosecution.

Kaplan said Salame “knew precisely what he was doing … and the whole idea was to hide it from the world. Astonishing!”

The judge also chastised Salame for pulling $5 million in cryptocurrencies out of FTX as the exchange was failing.

“You tried to withdraw tens of millions more,” Kaplan said. “It was me first. I’m getting in the lifeboat first. To heck with all those customers.”

Salame apologized to FTX customers and his family, saying that he and others had good intentions, though he added: “I fully understand that the means I sought to achieve these goals were illegal.”

Before he was sentenced, Salame gave brief remarks saying he was “beginning my path to redemption.”

“I accept what’s next,” he said.

Three other high-level executives at FTX are awaiting sentencing for their roles in the exchange’s collapse: Caroline Ellison, who was CEO of the FTX hedge fund Alameda Research, Gary Wang, the co-founder of FTX, and Nishad Singh, FTX’s head of engineering.

All three cooperated with prosecutors and testified at trial against Bankman–Fried in exchange for potentially suspended prison sentences.

Woke Pope Apologizes after Using Italian Anti-Gay Slur

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Pope Francis issued a partial apology for his use of an Italian word that many LGBT people found offensive, ZeroHedge reported.

Francis’s use of the word “frociaggine,” which translates to “faggotry” in English, in a private setting had initially triggered significant backlash earlier this week.

The pope used the term in reference to the “faggotry” prevalent in Catholic seminaries, suggesting to some bishops that the church needed fewer gay men involved in its clergy.

Naturally, Francis’s message led to extended outrage from LGBT activists. He eventually capitulated to their pressure and issued an apology via a spokesman on Tuesday.

“In the Church there is room for everyone, for everyone!” Matteo Bruni, director of the Holy See Press Office, said on Francis’s behalf, emphasizing the openness of the Church.

“No one is useless, no one is superfluous, there is room for everyone,” he added. “Just as we are, everyone.”

The statement seemed to echo several recent policy shifts that the “woke pope” has decreed in support of allowing more transgender practice within the church.

Last year, he issued an encyclical in support of allowing transgender individuals to be baptized and to serve as godparents to baptized Catholics, although he stopped short of saying they could be the parents if they were same-sex couples living in gay-marriage relationships.

However, Francis also extended a blessing to same-sex unions, further confusing followers with respect to his mixed messaging.

Despite his overture of contrition, Francis’s apology seemed to be carefully worded to avoid expressing regret at the use of the word while still expressing regret that some were offended.

The statement suggested that “the Pope never intended to offend or express himself in homophobic terms,” noting that Francis “extends his apologies to those who felt offended by the use of the term.”

The mainstream media predictably went out of its way to interpret Francis’s words as “homophobic,” a word that was coined in 1972 by psychologist George Weinberg to describe fear of gay men as a psychological condition requiring treatment rather than a commonplace aversion to homosexuality.

Still, Pope Francis has given conservatives a long list of reasons to be skeptical of his leadership, through the years making numerous remarks disparaging conservatives for their refusal to adopt progressive ways.

Just two weeks ago, he elicited the outrage of many Catholics and non-Catholics alike by appearing to wade into U.S. politics during a 60 Minutes interview in which he explicitly attacked the conservative philosophy as “suicidal” and suggesting it was rooted in a refusal to grow and improve.

“Conservative is someone who clings to something and does not want to see beyond that,” he claimed.

Some critics observed that Francis seemed to be more worried about the conservative wing of the church more than he was about addressing pedophilia and sex scandals within it.

Other critics were more blunt, accusing the pope of apostasy and suggesting that Francis was working in tandem with the so-called Antichrist, who prophetically will help herald the Armageddon to usher in the end times.

GOP Lawmakers Slam Terrorist Treat Posed by Illegals after Attempted Quantico Breach

(Multiple members of Congress are demanding answers about the federal government’s ability to prevent a terrorist attack after two Jordanian nationals attempted to break into Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia.

This is after concerns were raised about a Chinese national who recently breached a Marine Corps base in the El Centro CBP Sector after illegally entering the country, and after individuals identified as known or suspected terrorists (KSTs) are continuing to be apprehended at record numbers after illegally entering the country, the Center Square reported.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, led a group of 12 Republican members of Congress demanding answers from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Federal Bureau of Investigation about the Quantico breach, questioning if it constituted a terrorist attack. The letter was announced Tuesday and is dated May 23.

“A brazen attempt to infiltrate a military installation by foreign nationals from a terror-prone region rightly raises concerns as to whether this constituted a possible terrorist attack,” the House coalition said in a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and FBI Director Christopher Wray. “Yet, the federal government has not disclosed whether this breach was terror-related.”

On May 3, two Jordanian male nationals attempted to breach the Marine Corps base using a box truck. They were eventually detained and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

It was later revealed that one illegally crossed the border last month and was released into the interior by Border Patrol agents. The other overstayed his student visa and was in the country illegally. One was identified as a KST.

“The American people deserve to know the scope of the threat posed by potential terror suspects, and the extent to which the open border policies of this administration are facilitating it,” the coalition said.

Joining Roy are Republican Reps. Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar of Arizona, Josh Brecheen of Oklahoma, Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Matt Gaetz of Florida, Bob Good of Virginia, Mary Miller of Illinois, Barry Moore of Alabama, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin, and Randy Weber of Texas.

Last week, a coalition of 12 U.S. senators demanded answers, led by Sen. Ted Budd, R-N.C., of Mayorkas and Wray.

“This deeply concerning incident occurred mere weeks after a Chinese national who was in the country illegally broke into Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms on March 27,” they said.

House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn., and three other Republican committee chairmen also demanded answers from Mayorkas, Wray and Department of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. The committee is investigating the incident, they said, and is concerned about previous requests that remain unanswered.

In September 2023, Green and Texas Rep. August Pfluger—chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence—sent a letter to Mayorkas, Wray, and Austin requesting information about how the agencies were responding to possible breaches of U.S. military installations and critical infrastructure from the Chinese Communist Party.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Chinese nationals attempted to access U.S. military bases and other sensitive sites roughly 100 times in recent years.

DHS and the FBI “failed to provide any substantive response” to their request, they said.

In a November 2023 hearing, Mayorkas “repeatedly refused to answer when asked by Chairman Pfluger whether DHS continuously detains those found to be on the terrorist watchlist,” they said.

Most KSTs were apprehended by CBP and Border Patrol agents under the Biden administration, the Center Square has reported. This fiscal year, they total 277, after the greatest number in U.S. history was apprehended in fiscal 2023 of 736, the Center Square reported.

“The alarming conclusion from these numbers is every day we have individuals that are on the FBI terrorist watch list that could have an intention to harm our country and are entering every single day,” former Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan told the Center Square.

“It’s not if or when the threat tries to come to our country. We already know that’s happening already,” he said, referring to the at least 2 million foreign nationals who illegally entered the country and evaded capture, some of whom may be KSTs. “The threat is already here.”

The attempted breach at MCB Quantico “reflects a possibly more dire reality for the state of U.S. national security,” Green’s coalition said.

DHS’s “relaxed vetting standards” have created “an environment ripe for exploitation by individuals aiming to undermine the United States at its most critical points,” said the group. “If individuals on the terrorist watchlist are so emboldened to attempt to breach a Marine Corps base, the Department of Homeland Security and the entire executive branch must act swiftly to identify, apprehend, and detain such hostile actors on American soil.”
