Newly Militarized, Vastly Expanded IRS Poses Serious Threat of Tyranny

'The Democrats are making the IRS bigger than the Pentagon plus the Department of State, plus the FBI, plus the Border Control combined... '

(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) In what even the Washington Post is calling a “wager,” the Biden administration and its partisan partners in Congress are placing an $80-billion bet on the increasingly well-armed Internal Revenue Service as part of its obscenely bloated Inflation Reduction Act.

The legislation would allow the IRS to hire more 80,000 new employees and double the number of Americans audited each year, the New York Post reported.

While Democrat spinmeisters claim the IRS will only go after “rich tax cheats” and that “audit rates wouldn’t increase for families making under $400,000,” the Post argued that “small-business owners and upper-middle-income workers will likely be the targets.”

The Post also recalled the memory-holed Lois Lerner affair, in which the Obama administration weaponized the IRS against politically active conservatives, and then relied on Attorney General Eric Holder and a compliant media to cover up its obvious corruption.

In an appearance on Fox News, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., blasted the Democrats for doubling the size of the IRS while adding “billions in new taxes on US gas and oil production.”

“The Democrats are making the IRS bigger than the Pentagon plus the Department of State, plus the FBI, plus the Border Control combined,” Cruz said. “This is a massive power grab.”

“This bill creates 87,000 new agents — doubles the size of the IRS,” the senator continued. “Those IRS agents are designed to come after you . . . the small businesses and working families.”

In an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., reminded viewers that the IRS has also been buying up weapons and ammunition “like they’re preparing to take Fallujah.

“$731,000 of taxpayer money spent this year to quite literally weaponize your government against you,” Gaetz told Carlson. “It’s not really that Joe Biden and the Democrats hate guns, they just hate law-abiding Americans having them.”

According to CNBC, despite President Biden’s claim that the bill would add “not one cent” in taxes for those who earn less than $400,000 per year, the bill contains “adverse downstream effects — a sort of indirect taxation” as corporations are forced to pass their new tax burdens on to employees and consumers.
