POLL: Most Americans Believe Biden Admin Is Persecuting Bannon, O’Keefe

Poll comes as inspector general report also warns DOJ of its need to address growing concerns over partisanship and political influence...

Most Americans believe that the Biden administration acted in a “politically motivated” manner when the Justice Department charged Steve Bannon with Contempt of Congress and the FBI raided the home of Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe, reported the National Pulse.

Rasmussen found in a new poll that 55% of respondents believed the Biden administration pursued Bannon for partisan reasons, and 52% thought the same about O’Keefe.

Only 34%of those polled said that the federal government did not target Bannon for partisan purposes, and 29% said the same abotu O’Keefe.

The rest of the respondents did not know whether the federal government acted with political motivations.

The Justice Department charged with Bannon, who served as former President Donald Trump‘s chief strategist, with two misdemeanors: one for failing to appeal before the Democrat-controlled House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack and another for refusing to provide that committee with documents about Trump’s communication.

Bannon refused to do so at the advice of his attorney because Trump’s case asserting executive privilege is continuing to wind its way through court.

He surrendered to authorities on Nov. 15 and pleadead not guilty to both charges.

The FBI raided O’Keefe’s home to recover the supposed diary of Ashley Biden—President Joe Biden’s 40-year-old daughter—who claimed in it that Biden acted inappropriately with her as a child.

“Was I molested? I think so—I can’t remember specifies but I do remember trauma,” Ashley Biden wrote in the diary. “I remember not liking the Woolzacks house; I remember somewhat being sexualized with Caroline; I remember having sex with friends @ young age, showers with my dad (probably not appropriate).”

The FBI’s immense interest in the diary may confirm its authenticity. On the other hand, some speculation exists that it could be part of an elaborate ruse to discredit conservative media and deflect from other agency failures, such as the Russia hoax and the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

The Rasmussen poll also showed that Americans overwhelmingly want the Justice Department and FBI to remain non-partisan and not to persecute political opponents, with 64 percent of those polled calling that mission “very important.”

Only 18 percent described the Justice Department and FBI’s non-political approach as “somewhat important,” while only nine percent called it “not very” or “not at all important.”

Appropriately, the DOJ’s own inspector generaal, Michael Horowitz, appeared to reach the same conclusion this week, warning Attorney General Merrick Garland and company in the wake of recent events that they needed to do a better job at addressing the lingering concerns of partisanship.
