Leftists Hope Canceling Student Loans Will Save Election Prospects

(Alex Tien, Headline USA) Sensing impending catastrophe at the midterms, Democrats are moving to buy votes by forgiving student debt. In a blatant and obvious attempt to avoid an enormous red wave, the Biden administration is hoping that throwing more money at potential voters will help to somehow stop election losses.

Even though there are far larger issues facing the nation, such as skyrocketing crime, immigration and rampant inflation, President Joe Biden seems to think that student loan forgiveness, what will surely be an economic disaster, will help solve of the potential future woes at the ballot box this fall.

MSNBC’s Mehdi Assan tweeted that “Joe Biden’s approval ratings with 18-30 year olds has dropped 25 percentage points since January 2021, per Gallup. This is the biggest drop of any age group – and an age group that helped Dems win the House in 2018 and 2020. Biden needs to cancel student debt ASAP.”

Along with the announcement last week that the ongoing payment pause on federal student loans will be extended for another four months, the Biden administration also said it will move to those who were behind on their debt payments prior to the pandemic.

The U.S. Department of Education says it will pull millions of loan borrowers out of default and mark their accounts as current.

Cancelling student loan debt would be a major blow to taxpayers who have either prudently paid off their own college loans or who have gone to more inexpensive trade schools to receive practical training for their careers.

More often than not, those who have massive student loan debt are those who did not get useful degrees. Rewarding bad behavior may bring in some more voters to the Democrat side, but it will not likely solve any real solutions the nation is facing.
