UPDATE 3/30/21 8:00 AM VIA BREITBART:
The new diversity and inclusion chief for the U.S. military’s Special Operations Command, Richard Torres-Estrada, has been reassigned pending the results of an investigation into politically-charged social media posts he made before he was hired, a spokesman told Breitbart News on Monday.
“Mr. Torres-Estrada has been assigned other duties at USSOCOM pending the results of the investigation,” said SOCOM spokesman Kenneth McGraw in an email.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE FROM MONDAY MARCH 29TH: Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Ohio) blasted the hiring of Richard Torres-Estrada as Chief of Diversity and Inclusion as the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) chief of diversity and inclusion, whose social media has included anti-Trump memes, likening the former president to Hitler and equating police officers with slave catchers.
“I am shocked at the hiring of Richard Torres-Estrada as Chief of Diversity and Inclusion at one of America’s functional combatant command headquarters,” Johnson said a statement on Monday. “Comparing former President Trump, who was duly elected by the American people, to a genocidal madman directly responsible for killing six million Jewish men and women shows irredeemably poor judgment and the total inability to separate fact from fiction.”
Johnson added, “Torres-Estrada has disqualified himself from serving at U.S. Special Operations Command – our military’s tip of the spear. What Joe Biden and his administration are doing to our military is deeply dangerous and provocative. If the Biden Defense Department continues down the path of valuing diversity and inclusion over readiness and lethality, may God help the United States of America. Beijing and Moscow couldn’t be happier by this action.”
USSOCOM describes its mission as developing and employing “fully capable Special Operations Forces to conduct global special operations and activities as part of the Joint Force to support persistent, networked and distributed Combatant Command operations and campaigns against state and non-state actors to protect and advance U.S. policies and objectives.”
Johnson is a 26-year plus Air Force veteran.
The Congressman has also sent a letter to the Secretary of Defense to request a detailed report of the selection process used to hire Torres-Estrada.
“If the American people don’t receive satisfactory answers, Mr. Torres-Estrada should be relieved of his duties immediately,” Johnson concluded.
Torres-Estrada most recently worked as a equal employment opportunity officer for the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority.
