(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Elon Musk told Twitter employees to introduce a $20 per-month subscription for users to gain a blue check mark by Nov. 7 or leave the company.
“Musk wants developers to alter Twitter Blue, the company’s $4.99 per month subscription program that unlocks certain features, into a more expensive subscription that verifies users,” Breitbart reported.
“Twitter is currently planning to charge $19.99 for the new Twitter Blue subscription. Currently verified users will reportedly have 90 days to subscribe to the program or lose their checkmark.”
Musk previously said that he had plans to radically change the verification process.
“The whole verification process is being revamped right now,” he tweeted on Sunday, responding to a question from a Twitter user.
There is a reason why Musk decided to make those changes. In 2021, Twitter admitted that the company gave blue check marks to bot accounts.
“We mistakenly approved the verification applications of a small number of inauthentic [fake] accounts,” a Twitter spokesperson said at the time. “We have now permanently suspended the accounts in question, and removed their verified badge, under our platform manipulation and spam policy.”
At the same time, Twitter denied a blue check mark to James O’Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas, before he was banned from the platform altogether in April of this year.
“James O’Keefe, the founder of the investigative journalism organization Project Veritas, has been permanently blacklisted by Twitter, just as his organization releases bombshell undercover footage showing senior CNN employees admitting to using ‘propaganda.’ @Project_Veritas, the organization’s official account, has also been suspended,” Breitbart reported.
“… a Twitter spokeswoman said the suspension was permanent. This comes directly after O’Keefe and Project Veritas publicly embarrassed the far-left news network CNN.”
Aside from O’Keefe’s personal Twitter account, the Big Tech company also censored the journalistic work from Project Veritas when they revealed the disastrous border crisis caused by Joe Biden’s open border policies.
O’Keefe and Project Veritas are not the only conservatives who were banned from the platform. Donald Trump, Mike Lindell, Emerald Robinson, Rep. Jim Banks, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and others were banned from the fascistic social media platform.
