Democrats Increasingly Misquote Bible to Push Agenda

'It doesn’t help you win elections if you’re openly disdainful toward the driving force in many Americans’ lives... '

(Chris Parker, Headline USA) Democrats, the party that has traditionally expressed hostilities towards Christians, have recently begun incorporating Bible verses into their speeches – and often out of context.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., recently made headlines after referencing the book of Matthew to support a very costly Ukraine aide bill. The quote seemed odd given her support of abortion. It also took the Bible out of context when considering 1 Timothy 5:8: “Certainly if anyone does not provide for those who are his own, and especially for those who are members of his household, he has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith.”

Last Thanksgiving,  President Joe Biden used a quote from Psalms – while also mispronouncing the name as “Palms” despite being a life-long Catholic – as an appeal for healing. He recited Psalm 28:7: “The Lord is my strength and my shield;” after encouraging a nation damaged by his policies to heal. He also used it to encourage civility, despite prominent Democrats having called for violence and chaos.

The trend began as long as three years ago, when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., quoted Matthew 25:40 – “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me” – in an attempt to support socialism. Many of the replies to that Tweet were quick to point out the fact that the Bible calls for us to give freely as individuals.

But it’s not just leftist politicians; Democrat pundits are also carrying the trend. Earlier this week, Whoopi Goldberg attempted to correct the decision of Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone to bar Pelosi from Communion: “What is the point of Communion? It’s for sinners. It’s for sinners. It’s the reward of saints, but the bread of sinners. How dare you! How dare you!”

According to the Bible, Communion is done in remembrance of the broken body and spilled blood of Jesus. It goes on to say in 1 Corinthians 11:27, “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.”

Michael Wear, former director of Obama’s 2012 faith-outreach efforts, has noted the Democrat party’s illiteracy and hostility toward white evangelicals as a detriment to its overall success.

“It doesn’t help you win elections if you’re openly disdainful toward the driving force in many Americans’ lives,” said Wear.

Given Wear’s take, it seems that Democrats might be trying to overturn their hostility towards Christians. However, if that is the case, they’re doing a poor job, according to megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress: “2020 Dems appeal to an imaginary god created in their own minds.”
