Delusional LA District Attorney Blames Fox News, Trump Supporters For Recall Effort

George Soros-funded Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon claimed this week that it is the fault of Trump supporters and Fox News that he is facing a recall election.

“California DOES NOT NEED another political recall attempt sponsored by Donald Trump backers and frequent Fox News guests,” Gascon said in a statement filed with the Los Angeles County Clerk’s Office, according to the Washington Examiner.

“This is not about keeping Angelenos safe,” he said, “it’s about a political power grab by well-funded political operatives who have fought reforms — on juvenile detention, mental health treatment, police accountability in fatal police shootings, and the death penalty — for decades.”

Los Angeles residents, many of them families of crime victims, launched an effort to recall Gascon earlier this month, accusing the leftist district attorney of turning a blind eye to rising crime rates and letting criminals get off the hook. They cited Gascon’s decision to lessen charges for violent crimes and stop prosecutions of misdemeanors.

The group, of which Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva is a part, has raised more than $2.5 million over the past year to gather enough signatures needed to secure the recall petition.

One of the organizers, Desiree Andrade, a self-proclaimed Democrat and the mother of a 20-year-old man who was killed in 2018, said the effort to recall Gascon isn’t about politics, but about safety.

“I almost threw up in my mouth as I read George Gascon’s defense of criminals and anti-police safety policies,” Andrade said in a statement.

“Gascon’s attempt to poltiticize rising crime and the murder of my son, and so many other innocent victims, is truly despicable,” she said. “I don’t care about politics. I care about justice and public safety, and so does every other LA County resident, regardless of race, political party, income, or anything else.”
