(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Joe Biden has appointed a former leftist activist who decried larger police budgets in the wake of the George Floyd crime wave as a leader of Biden’s anti-gun violence initiative.
On Sept. 22, 2023, Biden launched the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention to “combat the epidemic of gun violence that is tearing our families, our communities and our country apart,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.
The Biden administration announced Greg Jackson as the leader of the leftist initiative. Jackson is the former executive director of the left-wing Community Justice Action Fund.
Throughout his career, Jackson has been attacking police departments and their budgets, including in January 2021 when he said during the University of Maryland policing seminar that he is “struggling to survive while… police budgets thrive.”
In addition to that, Jackson participated in a 2021 Obama Foundation webinar that was titled “Re Imagining Policing,” during which he suggested that people should use “community-led violence intervention and prevention strategies” instead of traditional law enforcement, adding that the goal is to “ultimately reduce the need for policing.”
Before Biden’s announcement, the Community Justice Action Fund conveniently removed all information about Jackson from its website. However, the Internet Archive helped to reveal that the leftist organization was constantly opposing the increased funding for law enforcement.
The organization that happened to be a project of the George Soros-backed Tides Foundation wrote an open letter — now deleted from the website — in 2020, in which it outlined principles, among which were the demands that governments “divest from aggressive policing” and “acknowledge that Black Lives Matter.”
Among the leftist groups who signed the letter were the National Black Justice Coalition and the American Federation of Teachers.
Aside from pushing the anti-police narrative, the organization also talked about other political issues as well, such as immigration.
The Beacon wrote that a founding member of the Community Justice Action Fund called on the Senate to block provisions in a background check bill that would report illegal immigrants who attempt to purchase a firearm to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
