Radical ALA President Wants to Use Libraries for ‘Socialist Organizing’

'I think your point that public education needs to be a site of socialist organizing, I think libraries really do, too...'

(Ben Sellers, Headline USA) It was Benjamin Franklin, the founder of the nation’s first public library, who emerged from the 1787 Constitutional Convention to alert the new citizens of the United States of America that they had formed “a republic—if you can keep it.”

Sadly, the radical president of the American Library Association is now trying to use its vast network of libraries as the staging ground to overthrow the very republic that the Founding Fathers established, RedState reported.

Instead, Emily Drabinski prefers a more collectivist polity—one that was birthed in the winter of 1848 at the British Library, courtesy of a man by the name of Marx, who was as notorious for his disdain of manual labor as Franklin was renowned for his industry and ingenuity.

Comrade Drabinski—whose controversial views have led several states to sever ties with the national ALA—was a participant at a socialist gathering last week in Chicago, according to author and psychologist Karlyn Borysenko, who reported on the event via her Substack blog.

“While initially slated to be a speaker at Socialism 2023, Drabinski’s session was canceled amid growing concerns about her Marxist ideology,” Borysenko noted.

Nonetheless, she attended the session, which included a “a rousing discussion, including discussing how to smuggle socialist ideas like Critical Race Theory into the classroom even when the law outlaws it,” which Borysenko said is referred to as “fugitive pedagogy.”

During the comment period, Drabinski approached the mic and identified herself as “a librarian” before launching into an alarming rant about the need to use public educational facilities to promote an extremist political revolution.

“I just want to say thank you for bringing up libraries, and classroom libraries, but also school libraries of all kind, public libraries and higher education library who have been under attack in similar ways,” she began, according to Borysenko.

“I think your point that public education needs to be a site of socialist organizing, I think libraries really do, too,” she continued. “I haven’t seen that, working in libraries, but I think there’s a real opportunity here to both connect with what’s happening in public education, what’s happening in libraries, but also we need some help with libraries. We need to be on the agenda of socialist organizing.”

Borysenko said she planned on turning her blog exposé into a series to reveal “what the far left says when they think we’re not listening.

Other leftist education groups, including the American Federation of Teachers and the American Association of School Administrators are among those that have come under fire recently for efforts to surreptitiously push a woke agenda while actively flouting state regulations and parental knowledge.
