Union Boss Randi Weingarten Led Efforts that ‘Coached’ Teachers How to Groom Students

'The unions’ mission is clear: train teachers to affirm every gender identity that conflicts with a student’s sex, ignore basic biological facts, hide the training from parents, and shape school policies to force others to do the same... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) Along with exacerbating the devastating academic learning losses suffered during the pandemic by aggressively lobbying to keep schools shuttered, the nation’s two largest teachers unions, representing upwards of five million public school teachers, have remained committed to pushing radical LGBT indoctrination and leftist dogma into classrooms while working to erode parental rights.

Under the direction of far-leftist union boss Randi Weingarten, the American Federation of Teachers “coached its members on how to inject gender identity politics into classroom teaching,” according to a Defense of Freedom Institute report titled “Summer of Woke, The Sequel” that was published Wednesday.

The radical propagandizing and indoctrination was on full display at the AFT’s “Together Educating America’s Children” conference in July. Two of the TEACH sessions focused on “Affirming LGBTQIA+ Identities in and out of the Classroom” and “The TGNCNB [transgender, gender nonconforming, nonbinary] Inclusive School and Classroom,” according to the DFI report.

The so-called inclusive classroom session was facilitated by a New York middle school teacher who was caught on video boasting about her technique of leaning on tenured teachers “to drive gender politics at school because they have more job security than their non-tenured peers,” DFI reported.

The same teacher also discussed what she called the benefits of “‘breaking down the gender binary’ as early as elementary school and ‘getting rid of girls and boys.’ Touting her ‘plethora of pride flags,’ she claimed that children as young as two and three years old were coming out as LGBTQ+,” the DFI reported stated.

Prior to the conference on best grooming practices, the AFT passed a LGBTQ+ resolution supporting “age-appropriate and inclusive” bathroom and locker room policies, to be pushed into schools.

“Far from truly being inclusive, these policies force teenage girls to share restrooms and locker rooms with biological men and offer little to no recourse should one of the women feel uncomfortable,” the DFI report stated.

The AFT’s resolution also commits its members to assisting LGBTQ+ activist groups, including one that provides tips and resources that enable alleged educators to “use a student’s preferred name and pronouns at school without notifying parents.”

Weingarten’s union has a dubious history of working to erode parental rights and has come under fire for willfully misrepresenting legislation that seeks to give parents a better grip of what is transpiring in classrooms, from curriculum to social services.

“This is propaganda. This is misinformation. This is the way in which wars start. This is the way in which hatred starts,” Weingarten claimed last year.

As the country’s second-largest teachers union, the National Education Association has similarly distorted parental rights legislation, calling the bills “extremist” and “anti-LGBTQ+”.

Correcting the disinformation, the DFI report informed, “These parental rights laws are not anti-anyone; they are simply an acknowledgement that government schools are not the appropriate place to teach children about moral issues that directly intersect with many families’ values and religious beliefs.”

The NEA and AFT have also both continued “vehemently opposing legislation that protects students from sexually graphic content” being placed in classrooms.

While the DFI acknowledged that most teachers are in the profession to actually help children learn, outfits like the AFT and NEA are making the task increasingly difficult.

“The unions’ mission is clear: train teachers to affirm every gender identity that conflicts with a student’s sex, ignore basic biological facts, hide the training from parents, and shape school policies to force others to do the same,” the DFI report asserted.

“The NEA and AFT have shown, yet again, that they do not represent the interests of the average teacher and will never serve as responsible stewards of an effective public K–12 education system.”
