Wisc. Assembly Won’t Withdraw Its 10 Biden Electors from 2020

'Not only is it illegal, it’s just plain unconstitutional... '

(John RansomHeadline USA) Following recent reports that Wisconsin‘s GOP-led legislature would advance a resolution by state Rep. Timothy Ramthun to recall the 10 electoral votes delegated to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, a top GOP official nixed the idea.

“Rep. Ramthun just attempted to pass an Assembly resolution to recall WI’s presidential electors,” said Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke, a Republican, via Twitter.

“Not only is it illegal, it’s just plain unconstitutional,” he continued. “As chair of the Rules Committee, there is ZERO chance I will advance this illegal resolution. #EndofStory”

Gateway Pundit originally reported that the legislature had voted unanimously via voice vote to move forward with “Rep. Ramthun’s resolution to reclaim Wisconsin’s 10 electors for US President and Vice President who were certified under fraudulent purposes.”

That set off a chain of viral tweets that claimed Wisconsin would recall its electors.

The move would be largely symbollic since the Electoral College‘s December 2020 vote was already confirmed on Jan. 6, 2021. Moreover, to overcome Biden’s lead, former President Donald Trump would have needed at least two more among a handful of contested states.

Nonetheless, GOP lawmakers in the state—along with those in other states like Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia—have continued to press for deeper investigations of the many election irregularities that were present in cities like Detroit, Green Bay and Madison.

The Wisconsin GOP is fighting internally, with one side claiming election fraud in 2020, and the other side believing that election fraud issues have already been litigated in Wisconsin and that it would be best to concentrate on upcoming elections.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, legislative lawyers have said that once the vote is certified by Congress, it’s impossible for states to recall presidential electors.

“Instead, except in the case of presidential incapacity, impeachment is the only mechanism for removing a sitting U.S. President,” Katie Bender–Olson and Peggy Hurley, attorneys with the nonpartisan Legislative Council, wrote in a Nov. 1, 2021, memo,” said the Journal Sentinel.

The Assembly speaker, Republican Robin Vos, has sanctioned Ramthun for repeated attempts to try to recall the 2020 presidential electors and for accusing Vos of conspiring with Democrats to support voting drop boxes.

“According to Vos’ office, Ramthun also falsely accused Vos of signing a deal with attorneys for former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to authorize ballot drop boxes in Wisconsin,” said local KFIZ radio.

“Vos has stripped Ramthun of his sole staffer at his Capitol office,” it added.
