(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) A Washington Post ‘fact checker‘ has come under attack for dishonestly skewing tweets by President Trump‘s sons sharing an article by Breitbart News.
The Breitbart article showed that the judge overseeing President Trump’s case, Judge Jean Merchan, has a daughter, Loren Merchan, who is the president and partner of Authentic Campaigns, which runs digital campaigns for leftists, per her LinkedIn account. Loren also lists her pronouns in her biography.
Donald Trump Jr. shared the story on his twitter account.
“Seems relevant… yet another connection in this hand picked democrat show trial,” he tweeted. “The BS never ends folks.”
“Daughter of Judge on Trump Case Worked on Biden-Harris Campaign.”
Importantly, the hyperlink to the Breitbart story was included.
Eric Trump also tweeted about the story.
“They are all hand picked,” he tweeted as reported by Breitbart News. “It is all pre-arranged. This corruption is on a different level.”
Both tweets, because they were sharing a news article about the judge’s daughter, included a photograph of her.
Washington Post’s lead fact checker, Glenn Kessler, was triggered by the tweets.
“Both Trump sons have now posted photos of the judge’s adult daughter,” he whined on twitter. “Totally irrelevant — and obviously intended to intimidate.”
Kessler included screenshot of the tweets, but cropped out the news story, thus dishonestly distorting the Trumps’ tweets.
Joe Concha, a journalist who works with The Hill, slammed Kessler.
“Both were linking to a news story, thereby already putting the photo and information into the public domain,’ he tweeted. “But for whatever reason, the WaPo “fact-checker” cropped that part out. Why is that?”
Federalist editor-in-chief Mollie Hemingway also slammed Kessler.
“Did you really just deceptively edit these tweets in order to falsely portray the LINKING OF A NEWS STORY ABOUT A PUBLIC FIGURE as the posting of a private individual’s photo?” she tweeted. “Wow, BANNER FREAKING WEEK, GLENN.”
Jack Posobiec, of Human Events, urged Twitter to fact check the fact checker.
“@communitynotes do your thing,” he tweeted.
Republican Strategist Andrew Surabian pointed out how corrupt our cultural institutions are to have a ‘fact checker’ blatantly lie.
“You’re a liar. They both posted a Breitbart story about the judge’s daughter working for Kamala Harris, not a picture,” he tweeted. “Last I checked, reporters considered political staffers to be public figures.”
“In a sane world, a “fact checker” who knowingly lies would be fired on the spot.”
