(Chris Parker, Headline USA) As Democrats become more desperate ahead of the midterms, their sloppiness is beginning to reveal the elitist nature of their proposals and policies, reported The Federalist.
The fallout from the Green New Deal and other proposals based on the climate alarmism have been among the most revealing. Democrat politicians often urge and force Americans to scale back, even as those same leftist pols live in luxury with private jets and energy-hungry mansions.
A shining example recently occurred in California last month. Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a ban on gas-powered vehicles effective in 2035. Less than a week later, the state government urged residents not to charge their vehicles ahead of Labor Day weekend.
Critics were quick to use the incident as an example of the alarming government control that will inevitably follow such measures.
Biden’s war on American fossil fuels has also revealed important truths to the American people. One of the hallmarks of his tenure has been the termination of drilling permits across the nation.
Yet, the world watched in shock as he begged Saudi Arabia to increase its oil production to help reduce the domestic inflation caused by his policies. The gasoline refined in the Middle East is the same as the fuel refined in the US; both have an equal carbon footprint.
Still, Biden refused to allow domestic drilling after the Saudis turned him down. OPEC has since reduced production.
A study conducted by the University of California Berkeley, a traditionally far-Left institution, also revealed that 90% of taxpayer EV subsidies were only beneficial to top income earners. A similar transfer from middle class taxpayers was also found in providing subsidies for residential solar panels.
But it wasn’t just the green policies that revealed the Left’s elitism. Earlier this year, the Federal Reserve decided to “fight” Bidenflation by raising interest rates with the fastest hike in decades. That means that loan payments, ranging from cars to houses, will soar among those who can’t afford to pay cash for such large – but essential – purchases.
