(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) After reportedly admitting that he used his car to mow down and fatally kill a Republican teenager because of a “political argument,” Shannon Brandt was released from jail Tuesday after posting $50,000, according to court documents.
Brandt, 41, of North Dakota, was behind bars for less than three days on criminal charges related to the death of 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson, who Brandt allegedly murdered because he thought the teenager was “part of a Republican extremist group.”
The horrific attack was carried out in the wake of President Joe Biden’s torrent of dangerous rhetoric demonizing Americans that he has targeted as “semi-fascist” insurrectionists who are a threat to the country and to democracy.
“Imagine if a white, 41-year-old MAGA Hat-Wearing Republican Activist chased down and ran over an 18-year-old with his car because he claimed the teen was part of a ‘Democrat Extremist Group,’” said Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk.
“The Media would cover it non-stop. So why do they ignore the murder of Cayler Ellingson?”

Brandt, who admitted to being drunk at the time of the incident, told authorities that he ran down the Republican because the teen “was threatening him,” according to a probable-cause affidavit provided to Fox News Digital.
“Brandt admitted to striking the pedestrian with his car because he had a political argument with the pedestrian and believed the pedestrian was calling people to come get him,” the affidavit stated. That was three days ago, and now Brandt is free on bail.

The increasingly violent attacks on Republicans goes beyond an isolated incident in North Dakota, said Kelley Paul, the wife of Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who has been on the receiving end of leftist assaults.
“Since Lee Zeldin’s stabbing, a Democrat official stabbed a journalist to death and a teen Republican was murdered by a leftist,” wrote Kelley Paul.
“In Louisville, the mayor was assaulted and a candidate was shot by a leftist. Democrats justify the assault on my husband everyday. Evil abounds.”
