(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) In the wake of President Joe Biden’s menacing speech in which he framed Trump-supporting Republicans as threats to democracy, a man has admitted to murdering a teenage boy because he believed the boy to be a Republican extremist, the Daily Caller reported.

The hit-and-run occurred in North Dakota on Sunday. At approximately 2:30 in the morning, Foster County Deputies were called into an alleyway in the town of McHenry, where they discovered the barely-alive 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson.

Soon thereafter they detained 41-year-old Shannon Brandt, the alleged killer.

Brandt told authorities that Ellingson was part of a right-wing extremist group and was “coming to get him.”

He also confessed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he struck Ellingson with his car after the two had some sort of political dispute.

Soon before the hit-and-run occurred, Ellingson had called his mother to ask her if she knew of Brandt. She confirmed that she did indeed know him.

He later called and informed her that Brandt was chasing him. After the second call, all contact with Ellingson ceased.

Brandt fled the scene after striking Ellingson, returning to call 911 and departing once more before law enforcement arrived. He told law enforcement on the phone that he had hit a pedestrian who was threatening him.

Hours after the incident, the young man was pronounced dead at the nearby Carrington Hospital.

Brandt has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide and a DUI with a $50,000 bail.

His extreme violence comes just weeks after President Joe Biden delivered a scathing speech, referring to Trump and his supporters as threats to the regime.

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundation of our republic,” Biden declared while surrounded by a suggestive military escort and theatrical red lighting.
