Stephen King Slammed for Spreading Fake News about DeSantis

‘Twitter is a constant learning experience, and I will try to do better...’

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) Stephen King, an award-winning horror/fantasy novelist, decided to do some writing about the real world without doing any research and eventually regretted it.

On July 6, King parroted the leftist propaganda about Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis being a fascist who signed a bill that would require students and professors from Florida to register their political views with the Sunshine State, according to the Daily Wire.

However, when people told him that he was just spreading lies from a 2021 Salon article, he did something that people on the Left usually do not do — apologized and deleted the tweet.

“I deleted a tweet about Ron DeSantis requiring notice of political views of students and teachers,” King wrote in his tweet. “That really was fake news. Sorry.”

Twitter, a social media platform that censors conservatives all the time, didn’t do anything about King’s tweet, until the writer himself listened to the comments of regular people and deleted it.

King also criticized the source from where he got this information in his statement to CNN.

“I regret having posted the headline without being more confident the story was correct,” he said. “Salon is usually more reliable. Twitter is a constant learning experience, and I will try to do better.”

In reality, DeSantis signed the law that requires public colleges and universities in Florida to “perform voluntary annual surveys on the subject of ‘intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity,’” the Daily Wire reported.

Leftist fact-checkers from Politifact said that King’s tweet is false.

“King claimed DeSantis signed a bill ‘requiring Florida students, professors to register political views with (the) state,’” Politifact said. “We rate King’s statement False.”

Even leftist CNN admitted that the article by Salon is nothing more than a piece of propaganda.

This is not the only time King made a fool of himself in the political realm. On Feb. 22 — two days before Russia invaded Ukraine — he tweeted that Vladimir Putin needed to deal with Biden now, implying that Trump was his puppet and Biden is not.

“Mr. Putin has made a serious miscalculation,” he said. “He forgot he’s no longer dealing with Trump.”
