Schiff Stumped When Asked Why FBI Waited on Raid

'I could tell you anyone in the intelligence community that had, uh, documents like that marked top secret ... they would be under serious investigation...'

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) During an appearance Sunday on CBSs’ Face the Nation, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., could not explain why the FBI waited a year and a half to raid former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home .

“Uh, I don’t know,” Schiff—the current chairman of the House Intelligence Committee—replied when Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan asked him why there was an 18-month delay.

“If, uh, the Trump people represented that they provided all the classified or national security information and didn’t, that’s a serious problem,” Schiff deflected.

Rumors swirled in the leftist echo chamber last week that the FBI was searching for papers Trump had illegaly taken from the White House detailing sensitive nuclear secrets, according to Valiant News.

That led many to wonder why the nation’s top law-enforcement apparatus would have waited so long to act on such an urgent matter, with only about 13 weeks until the midterm election is projected to put Republicans back in control of at least one chamber of Congress.

Despite the unprecedented circumstances, which were widely denounced as being politically motivated, Schiff claimed that Trump was being treated just as anyone else would be in his situation.

“I could tell you anyone in the intelligence community that had, uh, documents like that marked top secret SCI, uh, in their residence after authorities went to them, um, you know, they would be under serious investigation.”

That has not proven to be the case, however, for Democrats including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former FBI Director James Comey, among others who were called out for the double-standard of justice in their mishandling of classified material.

According to the warrant made public on Friday, none of the charges filed by the FBI directly touch on the classification status of the materials—which Trump and his attorneys maintain would be moot since he had the unqualified power to declassify any document for any reason while in office.

Even the far-left Washington Post has wondered aloud whether the nation’s militarized law-enforcement branches have been used for political purposes.

In any case, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice have revealed little interest in informing the American public why they are investigating one of the nation’s formerly elected public officials.

Last week following several days of silence, Attorney General Merrick Garland finally confirmed that he had authorized the raid on Trump’s home.

“I personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant in this manner,” said Garland. “The Department does not take such decision lightly.”
