Biden DOJ Had the SPLC Lead a ‘Hate Crimes Symposium’

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Biden-era DOJ invited the Southern Poverty Law Center, a radical leftist group widely condemned for labeling conservatives as “extremists,” to co-lead a so-called Hate Crimes Symposium for federal prosecutors, according to newly released documents. 

An email and event schedule released by America First Legal on Tuesday showed that DOJ officials tapped the SPLC to speak at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, S.C., from November 7 to 9, 2023. 

The SPLC’s coordination with the DOJ is troubling, given its notorious history of labeling traditional Catholics, Turning Point USA, Tucker Carlson and Alliance Defending Freedom as “hate” groups or individuals.

Over 100 assistant U.S. attorneys, DOJ Criminal Division trial lawyers and agents from the FBI’s Hate Crimes/Domestic Terrorism Fusion Cell were anticipated to attend, the documents showed. 

The email showed then-Deputy Assistant Attorney General Robert Moossy, Jr. asking then-Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke whether to flag the SPLC-led symposium in a meeting with the deputy associate attorney general. 

America First Legal blasted the invitation as “unbelievable hypocrisy.” Meanwhile, AFL senior advisor Ian Prior said that “Americans should be shocked, appalled, and terrified that the Biden Justice Department was taking advice from a hate-filled, morally bankrupt organization like the Southern Poverty Law Center.” 

According to the event schedule, SPLC staffer R.G. Cravens led a session on “disturbing trends and developments within the anti-LGBTQ movement, including the surge in threats and violence against transgender people.” 

The document release comes as President Donald Trump continues to expose how his predecessor, Joe Biden, weaponized the federal government to fabricate a false surge in hate crimes. This was done seemingly to justify investigations and even criminal prosecutions targeting conservatives. 

Worse still, newly released records exposed how the Biden administration exploited the events of Jan. 6, 2021, to hype claims of a nationwide rise in extremism, despite relying almost entirely on that single day to support their narrative.

The SPLC’s coordination with the DOJ for the “hate” crime symposium was first reported by the Daily Signal.

Ex-CNN Star Acosta Whines that ‘Far-Right’ Farmers Get to Vote

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Jim Acosta may no longer be with CNN, but his contempt for conservative Americans is alive and well. This time, he’s targeting rural voters and their right to vote. 

Speaking at a panel hosted by the leftist Center for American Progress on Tuesday, Acosta smeared small-town farmers as “far right” and accused them of being “led astray,” while seeming to lament that they still get to vote. 

“The far right in this country has kind of figured out a way to infiltrate the heartland and, you know, basically pull mom and pop from the farm to their point of view,” Acosta said, without evidence. “And as it turns out, a lot of those folk vote in these elections and a lot of those folk have been completely led astray. I hate to say it, but they’ve just completely led astray.” 

Acosta claimed this so-called political shift occurred right under the media’s nose and expressed regret for not stopping it. 

“We all let this happen on our watch, with essentially a business model for delivering the news of this country that just doesn’t work anymore,” he said. 

Acosta gained national recognition for grandstanding and shouting in the White House briefing room during the first Trump administration. 

He became a folk hero for the far left, and CNN eventually rewarded him with his own morning show. 

However, the glory did not last long. 

With Trump no longer in the White House and CNN’s ratings free-falling, Acosta was moved from the 10 a.m. ET slot to a graveyard shift near midnight, when few people watch television. 

He resigned before the demotion took effect, claiming that “after giving all of this some careful consideration and weighing an alternative time slot CNN offered me, I have decided to move on.”

Acosta now posts videos on YouTube, where some of his uploads barely break 5,000 views.

DHS Secretary Taken to the Hospital

(Headline USA) U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after experiencing an allergic reaction, her spokeswoman said.

“She is alert and recovering,” said the statement from department spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin, who said the hospital treatment was out of an “abundance of caution.”

Noem, 53, heads a sprawling department with roughly 260,000 employees responsible for immigration enforcement, airport security, disaster response and other responsibilities. She has been among the more high-profile members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet, traveling extensively and maintaining a robust social media presence.

While Noem’s spokesperson says she has allergies, conspiracists have already noted her recent trip to the biohazard lab in Fort Dietrich.

U.S. Faces First Net Migration Loss in 50 Years

(José Niño, Headline USA) For the first time in 50 years, more people are reportedly leaving the United States than arriving.

The Washington Post reported that economists Wendy Edelberg and Tara Watson of the Brookings Institution, in addition to Stan Veuger of the American Enterprise Institute, project in a forthcoming paper that “for the year as a whole, we think it’s likely [immigration] will be negative. It certainly would be the first time in more than 50 years.”

Policies from the Trump administration have apparently caused this shift in migrant inflows. The Trump administration’s immigration crackdown began in earnest in early 2025, with the southern border nearly closing, the revocation of protections for migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, and the end of most refugee admissions.

On top of that, the administration has imposed fines on illegal aliens who fail to leave, while offering free flights and $1,000 to those who self-deport using a government app. The administration’s goal is to remove up to 1 million migrants this year, with a Republican-backed bill proposing $150 billion for immigration enforcement.

The changes are becoming visible nationwide, but their effects are especially acute in cities and states with large immigrant workforces, such as California, Florida, and major urban centers.

For example, the Washington Post reported that in Boca Raton, Florida the Toby & Leon Cooperman Sinai Residences retirement community has laid off more than 10 workers from Haiti and Cuba. CEO Rachel Blumberg anticipating the loss of nearly 40 staff by August as temporary protections are revoked. “We are heartbroken. Their sudden removal is both destabilizing and deeply unjust,” Blumberg stated.

She added that labor costs are expected to rise by $600,000 annually as she tries to attract new workers by offering higher wages. “Unfortunately, higher costs will be passed on to the residents of every senior living facility in the entire country that’s affected.”

This slowdown in migration is not confined to Florida. Across the country, industries like agriculture, construction, and hospitality, which heavily depend on immigrant labor, are already feeling significant pain.

The foreign-born workforce has fallen by over 1 million people since March 2025, per Labor Department data.

Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler has pointed to a slowdown in labor supply. She has warned about potential inflationary pressures by the end of 2025, though she cautioned that there is little evidence of broad wage increases as of now. Joe Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM, echoed these misgivings: “You take those people away at a time when demographics are resulting in a lack of replacement for retired workers—all that’s a recipe for higher inflation.”

Some economists contend that a prolonged decline in immigration could limit economic growth, as fewer workers reduce economic output. The workforce is already aging, and without sufficient replacement, the risk of inflation rises according to their analysis.

“It’s not about deportations so much,” said Veuger. “It’s really just that inflows are down so much; not just at the southern border, but also through various legal programs.”

(Dave DeCamp, Antiwar.com) President Trump said on Tuesday that the US knows the location of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and that he wouldn’t be killed, at least for now.

“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

In a follow-up post, Trump wrote, “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”

The president’s threats toward Khamenei come as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing for the Iranian leader’s assassination, claiming that killing him would “end the conflict.” Netanyahu was also a major proponent of taking out former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

The US appears poised to formally enter the Israel-Iran war by launching strikes on Iran, specifically the Fordow nuclear site, which is buried deep underground. According to Axios, Trump was holding a meeting of his national security team this afternoon where he could approve strikes.

The US has supported the Israeli offensive by providing weapons, intelligence, and helping intercept Iranian missiles and drones fired at Israel. So far, the US has not launched direct airstrikes on Iran, although Trump has hinted that the US has been involved in the offensive by saying “we” control the skies over Iran.

“We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’ Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA,” he wrote on Truth Social.

Georgia Man Arraigned on Charges of Threatening Sexual Violence Against US Senators

(Bethany Blankley, The Center Square) A Duluth, Georgia, man was arraigned Tuesday on charges he threatened to commit sexual violence against two Republican U.S. senators, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia announced.

U.S. Capitol police and the FBI said they launched an investigation in January after Robert Davis Forney, 25, of Duluth, Georgia, called the offices of two U.S. senators and left threatening voicemails.

On Jan. 9, he allegedly called the office of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and left a voicemail threatening sexual violence against him and his family, authorities said. The next day, Forney called the office of U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Nebraska, and left a voicemail also threatening sexual violence against her, according to the charges.

FBI-Atlanta agents later arrested Forney. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in the Northern District of Georgia on June 10. On Tuesday, he was arraigned before a federal magistrate judge on federal charges of communicating threats in interstate commerce.

“Threatening our elected officials and their families is an act of violence that undermines our entire democracy,” U.S. Attorney Theodore Hertzberg said. “Political discourse and disagreements never justify resorting to vile attacks against our nation’s leaders.”

In response to concerns raised by constituents, a spokesperson from Fischer’s office said, “The senator appreciates Nebraskans’ concerns and their kind words. She is continuing to do her job on their behalf.”

An FBI and U.S. Capitol Police investigation is also ongoing. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Bret Hobson and Brent Alan Gray are prosecuting the case.

“Targeting public officials with threatening messages is a serious federal crime,” FBI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Paul Brown said. “There is no place for political violence or threats of violence in the United States. We will not hesitate to arrest and charge others who engage in similar criminal conduct.”

This is not the first time Cruz has been the target threats. On June 14, 2024, anti-Israel protestors gathered outside of his Houston home for the 23rd time. For six months, anti-Israel protestors came to his home “just about every Sat morning at 7 am and most Fri nights until 10 or 11 pm,” Cruz said. “They scream, disturb the peace & wake the neighbors. No matter how much these antisemites cheer Hamas, I will stand with Israel,” The Center Square reported.

One month after the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack against Israel, another Hispanic Republican Texan, U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz, was targeted, The Center Square reported.

Her McAllen office was vandalized twice by pro-Hamas activists after she expressed support for Israel. Spray painted messages in red paint read, “Israel kills Jews too,” “Monica murders,” and “You can’t escape your crimes Monica.”

In response, she said: “Let me be crystal clear: These acts of vandalism will never intimidate me, silence me, or stop me from opposing antisemitism and supporting Israel’s right to defend itself.

It remains unclear what Forney’s motivation was.

Politically motivated violence has continued as some Democratic lawmakers are accused of assaulting and calling for violence against ICE agents, a Minnesota Democratic lawmaker and her husband were assassinated, and a North Carolina lawmaker was urged to resign after posting an image of a beheaded President Donald Trump. The president has so far survived two assassination attempts.

New York City Comptroller, Mayoral Candidate, Detained by ICE at Courthouse

(Chris Wade, The Center Square) Brad Lander, the comptroller of New York City and a mayoral candidate, was arrested Tuesday by federal immigration officials after he tried to block them from making an arrest at a courthouse.

Lander, a Democrat, reportedly tried to escort an individual past agents from federal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the FBI, and the Treasury Department after their deportation case was dismissed in court.

Lander’s campaign manager and his wife both posted chaotic videos of him yelling “show me your warrant, show me your badge” as he was placed in handcuffs and wrestled down the hallway of the courthouse by ICE agents.

“You don‘t have the authority to arrest U.S. citizens asking for a judicial warrant,” Lander says in the video.

In a statement, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin said Lander was arrested “for assaulting law enforcement and impeding a federal officer.”

“Our heroic ICE law enforcement officers face a 413% increase in assaults against them – it is wrong that politicians seeking higher office undermine law enforcement safety to get a viral moment,” McLaughlin said. “No one is above the law, and if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will face consequences.”

Lander, vying for mayor in a crowded field of Democrats, has been critical of ICE arrests at courthouses where individuals potentially facing deportation attend immigration hearings.

New York City officials and legal organizations quickly condemned Lander’s arrest, blasting the move as an “abuse of power” by ICE and other federal authorities.

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the frontrunner in the mayor’s race, pointed the blame at Mayor Eric Adams, a fellow Democrat who is running for reelection as an independent, for part of Lander’s arrest.

“Make no mistake: this kind of conduct is the direct result of Mayor Eric Adams handing the keys of our great city over to Donald Trump,” the Democrat posted on social media. “Comptroller Brad Lander was doing absolutely nothing wrong when he was illegally detained and he must be released.”

Public Advocate Jumaane Williams demanded Lander’s release in a statement, condemning what he called ICE’s “increasingly aggressive” tactics.

Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, called Lander’s arrest “profoundly unacceptable” and criticized the Trump administration for targeting New Yorkers.

“Arresting Comptroller Lander for the simple act of standing up for immigrants and their civil rights is a shocking abuse of power,” James said. “No one should face fear and intimidation in a courthouse, and this is a grotesque escalation of tensions.”

Taxpayers Spent $56 Billion on Improper Medicaid Claims

(Carolina Boda,  The Center Square) Taxpayers spent $56 billion on Medicaid last year for able-bodied adults abusing the program, according to a new report released by the White House Tuesday.

The report claims that 44% of able-bodied Medicaid recipients without children worked less than 20 hours a week in 2024, using 11% of the government’s annual Medicaid funds.

The White House stressed the need for more stringent work requirements for adults on Medicaid, citing studies that link unemployment to drug abuse, poor mental health and suicide.

“We find substantial evidence that work is beneficial and unemployment is harmful for individuals across a range of domains,” the report says. “The mechanisms include not only the value of earned income and employee benefits but also the social interaction, structure, and sense of purpose that come from working.”

Underscoring this argument, the report notes that there were 6.5 million able-bodied, childless Medicaid recipients of working age who reported making no income in 2024.

Medicaid work requirements have been a disputed issue in Congress this year as Republicans seek to make President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” law. Republicans are looking to cut fraud and abuse from the Medicaid program to find money for Trump’s sweeping domestic policy agenda, citing the upswing in fraud within the program in recent years.

The Republican’s funding package currently sits in the U.S. Senate, where leadership is ironing out details for their version of the legislation. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, released his portion of the bill Monday. His committee has jurisdiction over Medicaid.

The Finance Committee’s text goes farther than the House of Representatives in its work requirements for Medicaid recipients. While the House’s version excuses parents with dependent children of any age from logging work hours, Crapo amended this provision to only exempt parents with dependent children under the age of 15.

The White House’s report specifically flags California and New York as the highest spenders of federal Medicaid funds, using one-third of the program’s total funding in 2024. The report suggests these two states cost federal taxpayers $13.5 billion and $6.4 billion in 2024, respectively.

Representatives from districts in New York and California have opposed the Republican budget package, citing issues with caps to the state and local tax deduction (SALT). Reps. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., Nick Lalota, R-N.Y, Andrew Garbarino, R-N.Y., and Young Kim, R-Calif., previously stated that they will band together to sink the legislation in the House if the Senate amends the SALT provision in any way.

With razor-thin Republican majorities in both chambers, the White House previously got involved in lobbying efforts to pass the legislation through several key votes over the past few months.

However, Trump has been relatively quiet as the Senate internally works out details of the bill. The president has been occupied by worsening tensions in the Middle East, even leading him to abruptly cut short his trip to the G7 summit in Alberta, Canada this week.

FBI Releases Records about China Interfering in 2020 Election to Stop Trump

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The FBI has reportedly released previously hidden documents, which show that China was meddling in the 2020 election to help tip the scales towards President Joe Biden.

The FBI documents come from August 2020, when the bureau received a tip from a confidential informant, who alleged that China was manufacturing and exporting fake U.S. driver’s licenses so that Chinese nationals in the U.S. could vote with fake mail-in ballots. FBI Director Kash Patel gave the records to his preferred media outlet, Just the News, which published a paywalled story about them on Monday.

“The intelligence source claimed the plot was specifically designed to benefit Biden,” Just the News reported Monday. “They also said the intelligence report was recalled within a few weeks and the allegations never fully investigated, on the grounds that the source needed to be re-interviewed.”

While the FBI records appear to be underpinned only by the informant’s information, Just the News reported that another agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, had intercepted nearly 20,000 fake licenses around the time the intelligence came. The CBP’s interception was possible corroboration of the FBI’s intelligence, Just the News reported.

Sen. Chuck Grassley’s office is reportedly investigating the matter further.

“We have located documents Chairman Grassley requested, which detail alarming allegations … of plans from the CCP to manufacture fake driver’s licenses and ship them into the United States for the purpose of facilitating fraudulent mail-in ballots—allegations which, while substantiated, were abruptly recalled and never disclosed to the public,” Patel told Just the News.

“In accordance with Chairman Grassley’s request for documents, I have immediately declassified the material and turned the document over to the Chairman for further review.”

Trump Breaks from Gabbard on Iran Nuke Program

(, The Center Square) President Donald Trump appears to break from his intelligence director on earlier claims that Iran wasn’t producing military weapons.

U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said in March, while speaking before a Senate intelligence briefing, that Iran wasn’t building a nuclear weapon.

However, as Trump was briefing reporters on Air Force One early Tuesday morning en route back to the White House, he said Iran was close to getting a nuclear weapon, contradicting Gabbard’s earlier claims.

“I don’t care what she said. They were very close to getting a nuke,” Trump told reporters.

In March, Gabbard said the intelligence community was assessing the nuclear situation in Iran.

“Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003,” Gabbard said.

The president made the comments as he returned early from the G7 summit in Alberta, Canada.

Trump told reporters he was headed directly back to the White House and the situation room to deal with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, after the two countries enter a fifth day of fighting.

The White House has denied reports of trying to negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, while also quashing reports that the U.S. was entering the fight.
