Headline Geopolitics: Andrew Korybko on Multipolarity, Trump’s Foreign Policy, and China’s Next Move

(José Niño, Headline USA) In this episode, José Niño sits down with Moscow-based American political analyst Andrew Korybko to discuss the shifting global order—from Russia’s grand strategy in Eurasia to how China and the United States are preparing for long-term strategic rivalry.

  1. You’re one of the most prolific geopolitical voices on Twitter, especially when it comes to multipolarity and Russia’s role in it. What would you say is Russia’s grand strategy in the Eurasian geopolitical space?

Russia aims to accelerate multipolarity processes across Afro-Eurasia upon concluding that the events set into motion by the special operation created an unprecedented opportunity to do so. The West’s sanctions included weaponizing the dollar, which reduced global confidence in this currency, thus speeding up financial multipolarity processes like de-dollarization. BRICS, for all of its limitations as a voluntary association of countries, has done a lot to take this trend forward.

In parallel with that, Russia began selling its oil and gas in national currencies, which chips away at the dollar’s dominance. On the African front, it practices what can be called “Democratic Security”, or helping to defend its partners’ national models of democracy. This takes the form of dispatching military advisers, providing socio-economic guidance, and promoting a positive image of these countries in its global media ecosystem. The combined effect counteracts Western regime change plots.

“Democratic Security” also characterizes Russia’s grand strategy towards Central Asia, but it takes other forms elsewhere in Eurasia. For instance, Russia sells arms to rivals such as China-India, China-Vietnam, and Iran-Saudi Arabia as part of its “military diplomacy”, which refers to its efforts to retain the military balance so that they’re more inclined to pursue diplomatic solutions to their disputes. By contrast, the United States usually only arms one rival, expecting that they’ll use coercion or force to advance their agenda.

  1. Trump famously promised to end the Russia-Ukraine war in 24 hours. Yet, he’s now signaling support for continued military aid to Ukraine. In your view, why has he failed to deliver on that promise?

It was always unrealistic to expect NATO’s proxy war on Russia to end within 24 hours and Trump himself later admitted that he was just exaggerating when he espoused such rhetoric. The crux of the problem is that Russia and the United States have contradictory endgames in mind and neither wants to compromise. Moreover, the United States won’t coerce Ukraine into complying with Russia’s demands for peace, while Russia won’t concede to accepting Ukraine’s continued control over the regions that Moscow claims as its own.

  1. Even establishment figures like Marco Rubio are starting to acknowledge the reality of multipolarity. How do you think the United States will adapt to a world where it’s no longer the unipolar hegemon?

The United States has been adapting to this reality since the Obama years when he announced the so-called “Lead From Behind” policy during NATO’s War on Libya wherein the United States provided back-end support to France, Italy, and the UK. This approach aims to “share the burden” for maintaining the “Global West’s” hegemony, which Trump has made explicit and taken to its extreme. Basically, the United States will support like-minded partners with shared geopolitical interests, but it’ll try not to get embroiled in regional conflicts.

  1. China is the United States’ top strategic rival. Over the next decade, do you see Beijing taking a more aggressive stance — say, over Taiwan or the South China Sea — or sticking to the long game by expanding its economic influence across Eurasia and the Global South?

China could have hypothetically made a military move against Taiwan during the onset of Russia’s special operation, but either Putin didn’t inform Xi in advance or Xi didn’t feel comfortable doing so in any case. Officially, China aims to reunify with its renegade island province through peaceful means via closer economic integration and then some forthcoming political solution, but this long game creates an opportunity for the United States to “Ukrainize” Taiwan by turning it into a heavily armed “anti-China”.

Furthermore, the United States is expanding what can be described as AUKUS+, or the three AUKUS countries and Japan, the Philippines, and South Korea. Taken to its conclusion, this could form the core of an “Asian NATO”, which might then more aggressively contain China in East and Southeast Asia. AUKUS+ is being relied on instead of the Quad since India refuses to subordinate itself to the United States as that country’s junior partner, which the United States demands that it do and then contribute to this containment coalition as a proxy.

China and India still have unresolved border disputes, and India does indeed rely on some U.S. military, intelligence, and logistical support to give itself an edge in the aforesaid, but this doesn’t equate to it being an American puppet, which it’s loath to become due to its hard-earned strategic autonomy. India also proudly defied the United States’ sanctions on Russia and was aghast at Trump tacitly taking Pakistan’s side during the latest conflict so it’s therefore expected to remain outside the United States’ regional proxy network.

This doesn’t mean that India will soon resolve its border disputes with China, just that China can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that ties with India will remain bilateral and not become an extension of the Sino-American rivalry. Looking forward, China will certainly come under more pressure from the United States and India, but it’s unlikely to initiate a large-scale conflict in the region, whether over Taiwan or whichever other dispute. That said, the United States will still try to provoke such a conflict, but it’s unclear whether it’ll succeed.

Heavy Rains in Texas Pause Search Efforts for Flood Victims

(Headline USA) More heavy rains in Texas on Sunday temporarily paused a weeklong search for victims of catastrophic flooding along the Guadalupe River and led to dozens of high-water rescues elsewhere as storms damaged homes, stranded motorists and put some residents under evacuation orders.

It was the first time a new round of severe weather had paused the search since the July Fourth holiday floods, which killed at least 132 people. Authorities believe more than 160 people may still be missing in Kerr County alone, and 10 more in neighboring areas.

In Kerrville, where local officials have come under scrutiny over whether residents were adequately warned about the rising water in the early morning hours of July 4, authorities went door-to-door to some homes after midnight early Sunday to alert people that flooding was again possible. Authorities also pushed phone alerts to those in the area.

By late Sunday afternoon, the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office announced that search teams in the western part of that county could resume their efforts. But more than 100 miles (161 kilometers) north in San Saba County, the floods damaged about 100 homes and knocked down untold lengths of cattle fencing, said Ashley Johnson, CEO of the Hill Country Community Action Association, a local nonprofit.

“Anything you can imagine in a rural community was damaged,” she said. “Our blessing is it was daylight and we knew it was coming.”

Latest flooding damages dozens of homes

Gov. Greg Abbott said on X that the state was making rescues in San Saba, Lampasas and Schleicher counties and that evacuations were taking place in a handful of others. Texas Task Force 1, a joint state and federal urban search and rescue team, had rescued dozens of people in the Lampasas area, Abbott said.

County officials ordered everyone living in flood-prone areas near the San Saba River to evacuate. Johnson said people were being moved to the San Saba Civic Center, which has become a safe, high place for people to receive aid and shelter.

“Everyone is in some way personally affected by this,” she said. “Everyone is just doing what they can to help their neighbors.”

A wide-ranging weather system brings heavy rains

The weather system brought multiple rounds of heavy rains and slow-moving storms across a widespread area, pushing rivers and streams over their banks.

Emergency crews rescued one motorist who was left stranded in waist-high rapids on a submerged bridge over the Bosque River and leaned onto the vehicle for support as crews tried to reach him with life jackets.

“He drove into it and didn’t realize how deep it was,” said Jeff Douglas, president of the McGregor Volunteer Fire Department. “Luckily he was able to stand next to the vehicle.”

In the west Texas city of Sonora, authorities called for evacuations of some neighborhoods due to rising flood waters. In a video posted Sunday afternoon on Facebook, Mayor Juanita Gomez said some water rescues had taken place and a temporary shelter for residents had been opened in the city’s civic center.

Kerrville residents get support from police, alerts

Under heavy rain, Matthew Stone was clearing branches and a log from a storm sewer in front of his home on Guadalupe Street in Kerrville on Sunday as several inches of water pooled up on the road.

Multiple houses on the street overlooking the Guadalupe River were severely impacted by the July 4 floods, and Stone had to pull his older neighbors from their home before water overtook it. He said he felt safe for now.

“My wife was freaking out, that’s for sure, but as long as that river is not coming down, we’ll be all right,” he said. “The cops have been coming back and forth, we’re getting lots of alerts, we’re getting a lot of support.”

In nearby Ingram, fire department spokesman Brian Lochte said search and rescue efforts would resume Monday morning.

Just before daybreak on the Fourth of July, the destructive, fast-moving waters rose 26 feet (8 meters) on the Guadalupe River, washing away homes and vehicles. Ever since, searchers have used helicopters, boats and drones to look for victims and to rescue people stranded in trees and from camps isolated by washed-out roads.

The floods laid waste to the Hill Country region of Texas. The riverbanks and hills of Kerr County are filled with vacation cabins, youth camps and campgrounds, including Camp Mystic, the century-old, all-girls Christian summer camp.

Located in a low-lying area along the Guadalupe River in a region known as flash flood alley, Camp Mystic lost at least 27 campers and counselors.

The flood was far more severe than the 100-year event envisioned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, experts said, and moved so quickly in the middle of the night that it caught many off guard in a county that lacked a warning system.

Trooper Shot, 2 Women Killed in Kentucky Church Shooting

(Headline USA) Two women died Sunday at a church in Lexington, Kentucky, in a shooting rampage that began when a state trooper was wounded after making a traffic stop, police said. The suspect in both shootings was also killed.

The suspect carjacked a vehicle after the traffic stop near Lexington’s airport and fled to Richmond Road Baptist Church, where he opened fire, city Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said. Killed in the shootings at the church were a 72-year-old woman and a 32-year-old woman, the local coroner said.

Two other people were wounded at the church and taken to a local hospital, the police chief said. One victim sustained critical injuries and the other was in stable condition, Weathers said.

The suspect was shot by police and died at the scene, he said. The suspect was not immediately identified pending notification of family, he said.

“Preliminary information indicates that the suspect may have had a connection to the individuals at the church,” the police chief said at a news conference.

The trooper stopped the vehicle after receiving a “license plate reader alert” and was shot about 11:30 a.m., Weathers said. The trooper was in stable condition, he said.

Police tracked the carjacked vehicle to the Baptist church, the police chief said. The church is about 16 miles 26 kilometers) from where the trooper was shot.

The shootings remain under investigation, Weathers said.

Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said the church is home to a small, tight-knit congregation.

“Please pray for everyone affected by these senseless acts of violence, and let’s give thanks for the swift response by the Lexington Police Department and Kentucky State Police,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said in a social media post.

State Attorney General Russell Coleman said detectives with his office were ready to support local and state agencies. “Today, violence invaded the Lord’s House,” Coleman said in a statement. “The attack on law enforcement and people of faith in Lexington shocked the entire Commonwealth.”

EXCLUSIVE: Insider Photos Show Secret Service Planning for Butler Trump Rallies

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Headline USA has exclusively obtained photos from inside the planning room where the Secret Service first met with local law enforcement to prepare for the July 13, 2024, deadly Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. This publication also obtained photos from that same room nearly three months later, when the federal and local officials again met nearly to prepare for Trump’s Oct. 5 return to Butler.

Together, the photos, which were taken in the Allegheny County Emergency Services’ conference room, show the dramatic security enhancements that took place between Trump’s July 13 and Oct. 5 rallies.

Indeed, when the Secret Service visited Allegheny County on July 8, 2024, to plan for the upcoming rally, there were only eight agents listed on the agency’s “advance team,” according to a photo from a presentation led by Secret Service agent Meredith Bank.

By contrast, a similar photo of a presentation slide for the Oct. 5 rally listed 21 agents on the advance team.

The Oct. 5 advance team is being identified publicly here for the first time: Brandon Grimes, Terry Hedrick, Jenna Erickson, Michael Fernald, Bryton Peternel, Kendel Ferguson, Zachary Hoalcraft, Zachary Zimmerman, Trenton Sherman, Matthew Miranda, Charles Rienerth, Sean Conroy, Shannon McCormick, Adam Martin, Patrick Atwell, Devonn Barnes, Bryan Chomicki, Thomas Walker, Jennifer Rieker, Robert Waltman II and David Castellon.

While the photos of the two planning meetings are revealed here for the first time, the security differences between the two events have been well-documented.

According to interview transcripts, the Secret Service held back-to-back meetings for both Trump’s rally, as well as then-First Lady Jill Biden’s July 13 event in Pittsburgh.

For the locals, the meetings were mostly a waste of time. When the Secret Service opened a PowerPoint presentation with a Google map of the Butler Farm Show, officers rolled their eyes.

“They didn’t really have a lot of information. They brought up a Google map to show us the area. It’s like, ‘Well, we’re all familiar with it. You guys are the ones that aren’t familiar with it,'” a Butler EMS tech who attended the meeting recalled. “So it was—we were there maybe an hour, and then we left from that meeting.”

After hearing the basics, the meeting attendees split into groups to exchange contact information. But they still weren’t quite clear what their respective roles would be that Saturday. Officers assisting with the Biden event were similarly uninformed.

“We have FLOTUS & Trump coming in on the same day. Trumps schedule is complete. FLOTUS is the wild card. The USSS said she’s coming, but they don’t know what time, what airport, or where she’s going,” Pittsburgh Police Lt. Charles R. Henderson wrote in an email to his officers about an hour after the Monday meetings. “If it works the way it usually does, we won’t know anything until Wednesday or Thursday.”

The rest of the week, all the way to Trump’s rally, was a disaster. Five of the eight agents listed on the advance team—Myosoty Perez, Dana DuBrey, Meredith Bank, Tim Burke and Brian Pardini—were suspended for the security failures that took place in Butler. And when Trump returned to Butler, none of those agents were on the advance team.

The New York Times documented the security enhancements that took place for Oct. 5. That event featured other high-profile guests such as billionaire Elon Musk and Vice President JD Vance.

“Some of the increased security measures were evident as people gathered hours before the rally. Ballistic glass that can deflect bullets was positioned around the area where Mr. Trump is expected to speak, and sharpshooters were visible on some of the low-lying surrounding buildings,” the New York Times reported last October.

“Members of the Secret Service team that typically guards President Biden — called the presidential protective detail — have assisted with the planning of the event. Members of Mr. Biden’s advance detail have been on loan to both Mr. Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, his rival in the presidential election, in the aftermath of the first Butler rally.”

Meanwhile, the Secret Service is still dealing from the fallout of what happened on this day one year ago. Secret Service insiders have also alleged that senior officials from Trump’s security detail avoided accountability for the failures of Butler — some were even promoted — while agents from the Pittsburgh field office were thrown under the bus

Agency infighting aside, questions linger about how things that were so clearly problematic — like the open roof used by gunman Thomas Crooks — weren’t addressed ahead of time.

The widow of Corey Comperatore, who died during the Butler assassination attempt, raised some of those questions during an interview with Fox News this week.

“Why was that such a failure? Why weren’t they paying attention? Why did they think that that roof didn’t need covered? I want to sit down and talk to them,” Helen Comperatore said.

Trump Marks 1-Year Anniversary of Assassination Attempt at the FIFA Club World Cup Final

(Headline USA) President Donald Trump on Sunday marked the one-year anniversary of a failed attempt on his life, joining family and close advisers at the FIFA Club World Cup final.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump travelled from their golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, to East Rutherford 40 miles away to watch the final match of the U.S.-hosted tournament between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea at MetLife Stadium.

Trump was greeted with cheers as he arrived at the stadium just ahead of the pre-match musical performance by singers Robbie Williams and Laura Pausini. And he got a smattering of boos when he was briefly shown on the stadium’s mega-screen.

The president waved to the crowd as he and his entourage arrived at the stadium luxury box where they were taking in the match.

The Trumps were joined by FIFA President Gianni Infantino for the start of the match. Other guests in the president’s suite included Attorney General Pam Bondi, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, NFL great Tom Brady and media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

MetLife in a little over a year will host the 2026 World Cup final.

PSG was looking to win its fourth major title of the season, exactly 100 days after it clinched Ligue 1 on April 5. The team added the Coupe de France by beating Reims 3-0 on May 24, then romped over Inter Milan seven days later in the Champions League Final.

Chelsea, however, was dominating and held a 3-0 halftime lead behind a pair of goals from Cole Palmer and one from João Pedro.

Sunday’s match falls on the first anniversary of the assassination attempt he survived in Butler, Pennsylvania, while campaigning for president.

The international sporting match also could offer an opportunity for Trump and aides to huddle with Qatari government officials.

Trump envoy Steve Witkoff, in a brief exchange with reporters in New Jersey on Sunday, said he remained “hopeful” about Gaza ceasefire and hostage negotiations.

Witkoff, who joined Trump for the tournament finale, appeared to nod affirmatively when asked by reporters if he planned on meeting with senior officials from the Gulf nation of Qatar, which is serving as an intermediary with Hamas in the talks, during the match.

“I’ll be meeting them,” Witkoff said.

Sporting events have made up the bulk of Trump’s trips in the U.S. since taking office this year. In addition to his visit this weekend to the soccer tournament, he’s attended the Super Bowl in New Orleans, the Daytona 500 in Florida, UFC fights in Miami and Newark, New Jersey, and the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia.

The president, who has a warm relationship with Infantino, has said he plans to attend multiple matches of the World Cup tournament next year that will be held at stadiums in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Preparations for next year’s big soccer moment for North America are well underway. But it comes amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and its neighbors over proposed tariffs, immigration and Trump repeatedly saying that Canada should become the 51st state.

Trump earlier this year said the tensions will only make the tournament more “exciting.”

“ Tension’s a good thing, ” Trump said.

American Killed by Israeli Settlers in the Occupied West Bank

(Dave DeCamp, Antiwar.com) A funeral was held on Sunday near the Israeli-occupied West Bank city of Ramallah for Sayfollah “Saif” Musallet, a 20-year-old American citizen from Tampa, Florida, who was killed by Jewish settlers on Friday while visiting family.

Musallet and another Palestinian, Mohammad al-Shalabi, 23, were killed in a settler attack near the village of Sinjil. Musallet was beaten to death, while al-Shalabi was shot in the back. Their bodies were carried through the streets of the village of Al-Mazraa a- Sharqiya on Sunday. The funeral had been delayed a day to allow Musallet’s father to arrive from the United States.

Witnesses said that settlers threw stones, used batons, and opened fire on Palestinians and Israeli activists who were in Sinjil as part of a weekly Friday gathering that was organized in response to growing settler violence and threats against residents of the village. Musallet was visiting his family in al-Mazra’a ash-Sharqiya and joined the gathering in Sinjil.

A relative of Musallet described the attack to Haaretz: “There were three settlers under the age of 18 who attacked us with batons. Then, a pickup truck arrived with more settlers – two of them in the back were armed with M16s and wearing army pants.” He said that the masked settlers were the same people who attacked the village a day earlier.

“They started throwing stones from their car at people, and Saif was hit in the back,” the relative stated. He said that the settlers then opened fire, causing the Palestinians to flee. “It was planned – they surrounded us from all directions,” he said. According to Haaretz, there are currently no settlers detained by Israeli authorities on suspicion of involvement in the murders.

Mussallet’s family said that settlers beat him unconscious, then blocked ambulances from reaching him for three hours, and he died on the way to the hospital. The family is calling on the US State Department to lead an investigation into his death. “We demand the US State Department lead an immediate investigation and hold the Israeli settlers who killed Saif accountable for their crimes,” the family said.

The State Department confirmed in a statement to CBS News on Saturday that an American citizen was killed in the West Bank, but referred questions about any investigation into the incident to Israel’s government.

Trump Threatens Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship in Savage Takedown

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) President Donald Trump trolled former comedian Rosie O’Donnell on Saturday by threatening to strip her of U.S. citizenship in a scathing post shared on Truth Social.  

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interest of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her citizenship,” Trump wrote. 

The president made the comment seemingly in response to O’Donnell’s years-long obsession with him.

Most recently, O’Donnell bizarrely blamed Trump for the deadly Texas floods, which have killed at least 120 people. 

“When the president guts all of the early warning systems and the weathering-forecast abilities of the government, these are the results,” she claimed without offering evidence. 

O’Donnell fled the U.S. after Trump’s 2024 landslide victory and is now seeking Irish citizenship through her ancestry. 

Trump referenced her new residence in his post, writing: “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

It’s unclear whether Trump would pursue any action against O’Donnell, though left-wing outlets were quick to point out that the Constitution grants birthright citizenship to those born in the U.S. 

In response, O’Donnell fired back on Instagram, calling Trump a “dangerous old soulless man with dementia.”

Soros Gave $37M to Groups Pushing Socialist Mamdani for NYC Mayor

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Self-described democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani has benefited from millions of dollars linked to leftist billionaire George Soros, even after declaring that billionaires shouldn’t exist. 

Financial records reviewed by the New York Post show that Soros’s Open Society Foundation has funneled over $36 million to the Working Families Party and nine other groups that played roles in pushing Mamdani as the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor in 2025. 

Mayor Eric Adams is running for reelection as an independent.    

Mamdani is a member of the Working Families Party—a far-left group notorious for pushing radical policy proposals like defunding the police and halting ICE raids. 

In an NBC Meet the Press interview, Mamdani laid out his economic vision: abolishing billionaires. “I don’t think that we should have billionaires, frankly,” he said.  

Yet since 2016, Soros has donated an estimated $23.7 million to Mamdani’s party through its non-profit arm, Working Families Organization INC. 

That’s not all. According to the Post: “And at least another $13,944,005 went to the nine nonprofits and their offshoot fundraising entities — including the Make The Road Action ($3,515,00), and social justice nonprofits Community Voices Heard ($2,635,000) and Move On ($2.3 million), and the anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace Action ($650,000), according to records.” 

Adams slammed Mamdani’s hypocrisy in remarks to the Post: “While Zohran Mamdani attacks job creators and rails against wealth, the truth is he’s benefiting from millions in support from billionaires and the very nonprofit network he pretends to stand apart from.” 

He added, “You can’t have it both ways. We need leadership that brings people together — not politicians who demonize success while quietly cashing in on it.”

ICE Says 200 Illegal Immigrants Arrested; UFW Reports 1 Death

(, The Center Square) Nearly 200 illegal immigrants were arrested during U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

According to the United Farm Workers, several agricultural workers were “critically injured” and one of them died from those injuries.

ICE released the number of arrests Friday, following the previous day’s raids at Glass House Farms’ marijuana fields near Camarillo and Carpinteria, cities north of Los Angeles.

More than 500 rioters attempted to disrupt the raids, ICE said. It added that four U.S. citizens “are being criminally processed for assaulting or resisting officers.”

Meanwhile, the UFW, a union of agricultural workers, confirmed there was one death from injuries sustained during the raids.

“UPDATE: we tragically can confirm that a farm worker has died of injuries they sustained as a result of yesterday’s immigration enforcement action,” the UFW posted on X on Friday afternoon.

The Ventura County Fire Department said on X that it responded at 12:15 p.m. Thursday “to provide medical aid as a result of federal enforcement activity along Laguna Road in the Oxnard Plains.”

On Friday, ICE noted the FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of an individual who, in video broadcast by Los Angeles TV stations, appeared to be firing a gun at federal agents.

ICE added that rioters damaged vehicles.

“At the California marijuana facilities, ICE and CBP law enforcement rescued at least 10 migrant children from what looks like exploitation, forced child labor, and potentially human trafficking or smuggling,” said Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security.

“During the operation, a violent agitator fired a gun at our brave officers,” McLaughlin continued. “While ICE and CBP officers are being assaulted by rioters and dodging bullets to save children, Sanctuary politicians are demonizing ICE and CBP. We will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who assaults or doxes federal law enforcement.”

The Center Square Friday reached out to Glass House Farms, but did not get a response.

Regarding medical aid during the raids, the Ventura County Fire Department posted, “VCFD’s commitment is to the safety of all members of our community, and to provide professional, compassionate emergency care regardless of immigration status.”

Videos by TV news stations showed federal agents throwing cannisters of tear gas to control the crowd.

(Dave DeCamp, Antiwar.com) A US shipment of Caterpillar D9 bulldozers arrived in the Israeli port of Haifa on Wednesday as Israel is conducting a record number of demolitions of Palestinian homes and structures in the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza.

According to Israeli media, the shipment of bulldozers was reportedly paused by the Biden administration last year due to their widespread use in destroying Gaza.

“The shipment of D9 bulldozers is part of a broad-scale arming and military equipment effort worth billions of shekels, which the US government released and the Defense Ministry procured and transported to Israel,” Amir Baram, the head of Israel’s Defense Ministry, said.

“We must continue to strengthen our military buildup to support all of the IDF’s needs in the current campaign and in preparation for the next decade,” Baram added.

The destruction of homes in Gaza is a key part of Israel’s campaign. A recent report from Haaretz that revealed IDF troops are being ordered to fire on unarmed Palestinians near aid sites also revealed that private contractors are being paid $1,500 for each house they destroy in the Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly told a Knesset committee in May that the IDF was ramping up its demolitions of homes in Gaza so Palestinians had nowhere to return. “We are destroying more and more homes, and Gazans have nowhere to return to. The only inevitable outcome will be the wish of Gazans to emigrate outside of the Gaza Strip,” he said.

Netanyahu and other Israeli officials have made clear that their goal is the destruction and ethnic cleansing of Gaza, and they’re now openly working on a plan to build a concentration camp on the ruins of the southern city of Rafah for the entire civilian population.

In the West Bank, Israel has increased demolitions across the Palestinian territory, including in the northern refugee camps of Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarem, where 40,000 people have been displaced since January.
