New Mexico Democrat Gov. Roasted for Ordering New Gun Ban

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) New Mexico Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham was called out for scheming a reversal of her draconian gun ban that whittled away some restrictions but still criminalizes law-abiding citizens for exercising their Constitutional rights.

Grisham announced Friday that she was amending her total ban on gun possession that drew bipartisan criticism, faced several lawsuits and had been slapped with a federal judge’s restraining order.

Grisham’s original executive fiat declared gun violence a health emergency and banned the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county and carried a $5,000 fine for offenders.

The amended order narrowed the scope of her unconstitutional gun grab with a revised decree that it would now only be illegal to legally carry guns in parks and playgrounds “where we know we have high risk of kids and families,” Grisham said in a Friday news conference.

“I have amended the public health order to specify that you cannot carry #guns in city parks or playgrounds in Albuquerque & Bernalillo Co.,” Grisham tweeted. “I respect the judge’s decision on the last public order, but I am far from done fighting to protect New Mexicans.”

Conservative commentator Tim Pool unwound the governor’s spin job.

“That is to say, she is issuing a new order to bypass the courts trying to still ban guns. You can’t do it,” Pool said, with his crew weighing in that “She’s intentionally trying to violate constitutional rights.”

Pool offered a four-step solution to “Impeach, indict, convict, prison,” but conceded it was unlikely in far-left Democrats controlling the state.

New Mexico Republican lawmakers said they’ve been working for actual solutions to gun violence crime, not violating citizens’ rights. In that vein, GOP lawmakers on Friday knocked back a report that they were urging Grisham “to call the Legislature into a special session to address crime, lists 10 bills that did not pass last session they say should be taken up.” The governor’s spokesperson reportedly ruled out calling a special session.

“We are not urging, this is a call to action,” NM House Republicans corrected.

Republican state Sen. Gregg Schmedes., who called Grisham’s amended order a “new gun ban,” ripped the latest sham edict.

“Firearms disallowed in all public parks. This means families who take their children to parks (in a city with rampant violent crime) cannot bring a firearm for self-defense,” Schmede said, deriding the new order as “a mere continuation of dangerous, nonsensical, anti-family policies.”

Biden Seeks to Shield Deep State Bureaucrats As Dems Worry of 2024 Loss

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Biden administration has unleashed a policy proposal in an apparent bid to protect the career of deep state bureaucrats.

The Office of Personnel Management, the federal body responsible for managing all federal workers, is reportedly considering a rule that would provide most federal employees with an unprecedented right to appeal their ousting.

“The 2.2 million career civil servants active today are the backbone of the Federal workforce,” the filing claimed, according to the Daily Caller. “These employees take an oath to uphold the Constitution and are accountable to agency leaders and managers who, in turn, are accountable to the President. … [M]ere disagreement with leadership—without defiance of lawful orders—does not qualify as misconduct or unacceptable performance.”

The proposal coincides with reports of growing concerns within Biden’s inner circle that a close 2024 presidential election threatens Biden’s presidency.

A recent CNN poll revealed a tight race in a hypothetical rematch between Trump and Biden, leading to what aides have described as “existential stress.”

Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s deputy chief propagandist and 2020 campaign manager, emphasized the stakes. “The president has said publicly himself that democracy is still on the ballot,” she said of the 2024 election. “If you believed that to be true the first time, you have to believe that to be more true the second time.”

In addition to electoral worries, Biden’s camp has blamed the media for reporting on a series of scandals involving the president and his family, including an impeachment inquiry, a Hunter Biden federal indictment and concerns about Biden’s age.

In response, the White House sent a letter to media executives, beseeching them to defend Biden against looming headlines and political challenges. White House Counsel Ian Sams wrote, “It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies.”

House Democrats are also expressing concerns about the upcoming 2024 election. Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut., admitted, “This election is going to be a fight. No question it’s going to be a fight and we need to be prepared.”

Sen. Jon Tester of Montana echoed Blumenthal’s concerns, adding, “You got to be concerned about those poll numbers, you just do. There’s plenty of time to get them back up. Whether he can or not, I just don’t know, but you got to be concerned.”

‘Send Them Back’: AOC Faces Heated Protests Over Flood of Illegal Aliens

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In a chaotic press conference on Friday, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jerry Nadler, along with other Democrat lawmakers of New York, were met with angry protesters demanding action against the unprecedented influx of illegal aliens in the city.

“Send them back!” shouted Jonathan Rinaldi, a Queens City Council candidate, as he joined a crowd of protesters who disrupted the press conference. Signs held by some protesters read, “Americans first: Vetted & legal migrants only.”

The protesters’ frustration came on the heels of a visit by Democrat lawmakers to an emergency shelter in midtown Manhattan, which has seen a surge in illegal immigration, resulting in increased trash and crime in the area.

“What we seek to do is to make sure that all the resources are necessary and that we are joining with the city and state,” Ocasio-Cortez said before the protest erupted. However, her attempts to address the situation were repeatedly interrupted by a man using a megaphone who shouted, “Illegal immigration is not right! Respect the constitution, close the border.”

In the same speech, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that work authorizations could solve the crisis, ignoring that such policies have ignited a surges of illegal aliens in the past, the Heritage Foundation reported.

Another protestor chimed in, shouting. “Close the border! Close the border! Respect the constitution AOC. I am your constituent.”

The lawmakers’ visit and the ensuing protests followed New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s scathing criticism of the Biden administration for failing to address the ever-worsening border crisis.

Adams warned that the crush of illegal aliens could cost taxpayers up to $12 billion over the course of three years.

“Let me tell you something New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to — I don’t see an ending to this,” Adams said on Sept. 7. “This issue will destroy New York City.”

National Deficit, Inflation Soars Despite ‘Inflation Reduction Act’

(Casey Harper, The Center Square) The U.S. Congressional Budget Office reports that the federal government is borrowing far more this fiscal year than the year before even as inflation continues to rise.

The CBO released its deficit estimate which said the U.S. deficit hit about $1.5 trillion in the first 11 months of this fiscal year.

“Eleven months in, and we have already borrowed $1.5 trillion this fiscal year, compared to $946 billion at the same point last year,” Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, said in a statement. “On top of that dismal fiscal news, we still haven’t funded the government past the end of the month – Washington appears to be sticking to its time-honored tradition of governing poorly, and by perpetual crises.”

As The Center Square previously reported, the cost of interest payments on the national debt will surpass the cost of U.S. funding for national defense within a decade. In fact, federal spending projections show that interest payments on the national debt will soon become the federal government’s largest expense.

On top of that, Medicare, Social Security and highways will face insolvency within a decade.

Unless Congress enacts significant changes, the deficit and debt are expected to continue rising.

“The deficit is on track to be double what it was last year after excluding the effects of the President’s overturned student debt cancellation plan,” MacGuineas said. “That is doubly disturbing given that the economy is growing and unemployment remains low; usually the deficit shrinks, not grows, during economic expansions. It’s just another sign of the deteriorating fiscal conditions of the federal budget and the immense challenges we face in turning the tide towards fiscal sustainability.”

The House Subcommittee on Health Care and Financial Services held a hearing this week on the Inflation Reduction Act where Republicans raised concerns about rising deficits, which are helping fuel inflation. Federal debt spending is partially offset by printing money, which increases inflation.

“Not only does the IRA do little to reduce inflation, but it will continue to add to the deficit with rampant spending,” the subcommittee’s Chair Lisa McClain, R-Mich., said during the hearing.

Meanwhile, federal inflation data released this week showed a major spike in prices in August. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released its Consumer Price Index and Producer Price Index, key markers of inflation, which showed spikes of 0.6% and a 0.7% spike, respectively, much higher than expected.

Those increases bucked the trend of slowing inflation seen earlier this year.

“The index for gasoline was the largest contributor to the monthly all items increase, accounting for over half of the increase,” BLS said of its consumer prices. “Also contributing to the August monthly increase was continued advancement in the shelter index, which rose for the 40th consecutive month. The energy index rose 5.6 percent in August as all the major energy component indexes increased. The food index increased 0.2 percent in August, as it did in July.”

Christian Athlete Group Should Be Reinstated, Appeals Court Finds

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) A dose of justice was served in an increasingly two-tiered system the typically shafts conservatives, when a federal appeals court found on Sept. 13 that a leftist California public school district must reinstate a Christian student group.

The group was canceled specifically because the members professed their Christian beliefs, saying that everyone who wanted to join them must also embrace Christian teaching, including the opposition to the LGBT deviant lifestyle, which was the reason why the district alleged the group was discriminatory, Our Sunday Visitor reported.

In a 9-2 decision, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the San Jose Unified School District likely violated the Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ First Amendment right to freely exercise their religion when it revoked its status as a recognized high school student club.

“Anti-discrimination laws undeniably serve valuable interests rooted in equality, justice and fairness,” Judge Consuelo M. Callahan wrote for the court, adding that both these laws and the Constitution protect First Amendment rights.

Callahan added that the district exposed its anti-Christian bias when it limited the membership of the group while not doing the same thing to the secular clubs that discriminate based on sex, race, ethnicity and other criteria.

As part of FCA’s Christian Character and Mission requirements, student leaders must also conform to FCA’s Sexual Purity Statement, which states that “God desires His children to lead pure lives of holiness” and that “the appropriate place for sexual expression is in the context of a marriage relationship,” adding that marriage can only exist between one man and one woman, the news source said.

Additionally, the appeals court overruled a lower court’s decision that the group’s requirement discriminated against sexually deviant students.

“Our FCA teams have long enjoyed strong relationships with teachers and students in the past, and we are looking forward to that again,” Rigo Lopez, the local FCA leader for Bay Area schools, said.

Daniel Blomberg, vice president and senior counsel at Becket, the public interest firm that helped represent FCA, also added that the ruling was “a huge win for these brave kids.”

“Today’s ruling ensures religious students are again treated fairly in San Jose and throughout California,” he said.

The leftist school district responded to the ruling by saying that it was disappointed, adding that they won’t give up and continue their fight against Christians.

That wasn’t the only time when Marxists in the education system oppressed Christians. In the past, leftists expressed their desire to shut down Christian schools, called Christians fascists, implemented “gender-neutral” bathrooms and said that Christian teachers should not be hired. It got to the point when leftists were even mocking murdered Christian children.

Jack Smith Seeks Gag Order Against Trump Ahead of 2024 Election

(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) The Biden Justice Department, under the controversial leadership of Special Counsel Jack Smith, has sparked a contentious legal showdown by attempting to muzzle former President Donald Trump in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election.

Smith’s controversial maneuver in the case against Trump’s alleged effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election involves a motion filed last Friday, in which the DOJ demanded the implementation of a “narrowly tailored” gag order against Trump.

“Since the indictment in this case, the defendant has spread disparaging and inflammatory public posts on Truth Social on a near-daily basis regarding the citizens of the District of Columbia, the court, prosecutors and prospective witnesses,” prosecutors wrote in a 19-page motion.

Trump quickly responded to the gag order petition by blasting Smith as a deranged prosecutor.  “I’m campaigning for President against an incompetent person who has WEAPONIZED the DOJ & FBI to go after his Political Opponent, & I am not allowed to COMMENT?” Trump asked in a fiery Truth Social post.

“They Leak, Lie, & Sue, & they won’t allow me to SPEAK? How else would I explain that Jack Smith is DERANGED, or Crooked Joe is INCOMPETENT?” the former president added.

In the motion, Smith singled out Trump’s criticism against key figures involved in the contentious legal case.

These figures include Smith himself, who has become a focal point of conservative ire, and Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee whose previous rulings on J6 cases have ignited criticism. Former Vice President Mike Pence, a long-shot presidential candidate, also finds himself on Trump’s long list of targets, federal prosecutors claimed.

“Like his previous public disinformation campaign regarding the 2020 presidential election,” they claimed, “the defendant’s recent extrajudicial statements are intended to undermine public confidence in an institution — the judicial system — and to undermine confidence in and intimidate individuals — the court, the jury pool, witnesses and prosecutors.”

This latest move is just one chapter in the ongoing battle between Trump and Biden’s DOJ. Just last month, Chutkan issued a scathing warning to Trump through his attorneys.

“I caution you and your client to take special care in your public statements in this case,” Chutkan reportedly said. “I will take whatever measures are necessary to protect the integrity of these proceedings.”

Chair of BLM Bail Fund Touted by Kamala Is Arrested for Fentanyl Possession

(Corine Gatti, Headline USA) Valentina McKenzie, who chaired the left-wing Minnesota Freedom Fund, which was praised by then-Senator Kamala Harris, was arrested last month for fentanyl possession and misdemeanor charges for possessing an open package of marijuana in a motor vehicle, Alpha News reported.

MFF Communications Director Noble Frank said in a statement no charges were filed against McKenzie, who has been in jail for weeks, adding, “Out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.”

The organization was launched in 2016 to help “end oppressive jailing” but garnered notoriety in 2020 during the Black Lives Matter protests after the death of George Floyd, pledging to bail out protesters arrested, including violent criminals, who continued to commit more heinous crimes. With millions in assets, it shifted focus towards political pursuits to end bail, leading to the release of potentially dangerous offenders into the community.

Over the years, the fund received more than $35 million and was promoted online and widely publicized on social media by celebrities, and democrats like Harris, who tweeted in 2020, “If you’re able to, chip in now to the @MNFreedomFund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota.”

Meanwhile, Harris has never mentioned the damage the fund did to the community, years later. In fact, she was silent on the matter after several criminals were released on bond — some of them noted violent offenders.

The fund was blamed for the release of Jaleel Stallings, who was charged with attempted murder after shooting at police during the BLM riots. His bail was set at $75,000 and paid. In another case, a man who was accused of sexually assaulting his 16-year-old niece, was bailed out of jail, drawing widespread scrutiny from the public. Another woman who was accused of stabbing her aunt with a knife was also bailed out by the organization, the Daily Caller reported.

Cleveland Catholic Schools Ban All LGBT Affiliation and Behaviors

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Over 100 Catholic schools in Cleveland, Ohio, announced that they will no longer allow LGBTQ+ affiliation or behaviors from students, faculty or staff.

The changes resulted from the recently released guidelines on sexuality and gender from the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, according to the Daily Wire.

The diocese explained that the changes within the schools were simply a formal policy version of the guidelines.

“Since questions of sex, sexuality, and gender identity have become increasingly prevalent in our society, it is our hope that the policy will help to ensure these matters are addressed in a consistent and authentically Catholic manner across our diocesan institutions and diocesan Catholic schools, and that those we serve will have a clear understanding about expectations and accommodations related to those matters,” stated the diocese.

The new school rules ban the use of preferred pronouns; restricts bathroom and facility usage to biological sex; prohibits boys from attending classes, participating in sports, and programs for girls and vice versa; forbids same-sex dates to school dances; bans any form of LGBT advocacy; and prohibits gender transition of any kind.

The policy also required teachers or other staff members to notify a child’s parents in the event they share their gender confusion.

The Biblically-sound effects all policy offices, parishes, parish schools and diocesan schools and the students, staff, faculty, volunteers and others that reside in them.

While the statement acknowledged the existence of gender dysphoria, they emphasized a solution of grace, kindness and encouraging students to accept their God-given gifts.

“This understanding erases those intentional, embodied distinctions between men and women,” the policy, written by Bishop Edward Malesic. “As such, this view is contrary to the divinely revealed reality of our true, God-given human nature.”

Bishop Malesic published a separate letter emphasizing the importance of the unity of body and soul.

“The human person is a unity of body and soul; we experience the world through our bodies, and it is through the virtuous expression of our bodies that we reveal God,” said Malesic. “Through times of questioning and confusion, we must accompany our brothers and sisters in Christ with compassion, mercy, and dignity so that we might lovingly help them navigate the confusion and arrive at truth.”

The statement caused quite a stir in the city. Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb accused the Bishop of a “shocking betrayal” of church teachings.

“For me, faith is about universal love and acceptance,” said Bibb. “Instead, the new policy forces LGBTQ+ kids to hide their authentic selves and attend schools in fear of persecution for who they are.”

Biden Lobs Racist Insults and Lies in Stunning Display of Cognitive Decline

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) President Joe Biden hit the racist insult, blundering gaffe and deep delusion trifecta during a speech this week when he denigrated one of his largest voting blocks, lied repeatedly and again got lost on stage.

Veering wildly off course during a speech touting his eponymous economic policy and gaslighting how Bidenomics is tackling inflation, the fabulist-in-chief kept intact his track record for dropping whoppers.

“Our democracy is under attack. We gotta fight for it,” said the president who has weaponized his Justice Department to attack his political rivals and try to imprison former president Donald Trump.

“I taught at the University of Pennsylvania for four years and I used to teach political theory,” Biden boasted, despite having never taught a class at UPenn.

Cross-pollinating lies with racism, Biden denigrated blacks and Hispanics by claiming Bidenomics has done wonders for driving down unemployment.

“We’ve seen record-lows in unemployment, particularly, and I’ve focused on this my whole career, particularly for African Americans and Hispanic workers and veterans — you know, the workers without high school diplomas,” Biden slurred.

Biden, also for his whole career, has been dropping racist insults, noted RedState.

“We’ve seen this from Joe before when he speaks about minorities,” Nick Arama wrote. “Remember the ‘poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids’ remark?” the outlet also reminded that it was only two years ago when Biden suggested that “Hispanic and African American” people would have difficulties registering online for the COVID vaccine.

Florida Republican Congressional candidate Lavern Spicer did an even deeper dive into Biden’s racist past.

In a change of pace from his usual hair-sniffing escapades, Biden got equally cringy critiquing Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s biceps.

Biden wrapped the event by once again getting lost on stage before his handlers could corral him in the right direction, and again refused to address the myriad legal woes battering Biden Inc. and his son Hunter, who earlier this week was indicted on federal felony gun charges.

Berkeley Landlords’ Party Celebrating End of Eviction Moratorium Erupts in Violence

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Berkeley, California landlords had a party to celebrate the end of the eviction moratorium that has plagued thousands of landlords throughout numerous cities in the state.

Little did they know that some of their tenants caught wind of the party, showing up and rioting, causing the party to end in violence, the Daily Mail reported.

The city was one of the last in the state to end its COVID-era eviction moratorium, costing many landlords tens of thousands of dollars over the course of the past three years.

After the landlords’ party began, hundreds of renters crowded into the event to crash it, one of them calling the party “deeply cruel.”

In order to celebrate the destructive policy’s conclusion, the Berkeley Property Owners Association threw a party at a local bar.

When the rioters arrived, however, BPOA President Krista Gulbransen said that she “went around and told our members to remain quiet, and peaceful and not engage, and they didn’t.”

According to her account, people soon began shoving each other, and the event became more violent. Soon thereafter, she was shoved to the ground as “multiple fights” broke out.

BPOA spokesperson Becky Warren said that the police arrived at the scene, but refused to intervene because it was a “political” dispute.

“Hostile dissidents disrupted a private gathering at a local restaurant to intimidate, harass, and physically assault our members who are law-abiding small business owners,” Warren said, noting that the hostile crowd attempted to “escalate, intimidate, and cause harm” to the various members.

Gulbransen and the BPOA have no interest in apologizing.

“We make no qualms about celebrating the end of the eviction moratorium,” she said, adding that “we are celebrating the end of the tenants who could have paid rent, and chose not to.”

According to another BPOA report, an elderly attendee was punched in the face.
