MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski Blames White House Staff for Biden Gaffes, Falls

'These are things that are gonna be played on a loop, OK? ... '

(Headline USAMSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski claimed on Wednesday that President Joe Biden’s staff are to blame for the octogenarian’s frequent gaffes and physical blunders.

Referring to embarrassing comments Biden made during the NATO summit this week, including one where he referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “Vladimir,” Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough questioned why his staff aren’t more involved with Biden’s schedule. Former President Ronald Reagan, for example, had staffers who “managed his schedule very carefully,” Scarborough argued.

“Yeah, I think his staff needs to own his age,” Brzezinski replied. “I’m just gonna be honest, I don’t think they do a good job helping out the president … Yes, he’s 80 — you need to be there for him. And you need to make a pathway, and you sure as hell better make sure he doesn’t fall on a sandbag. And I blame the staff for that.”

Staffers’ inability to properly care for Biden could result in “things that are gonna hurt him,” both physically and electorally, Brzezinski added.

“These are things that are gonna be played on a loop, OK? Let him do his job, let him do his speeches, let him work on policy, let him do his connections in Congress,” she said.

Democrats “can’t have these video images of the president tripping, or the president, like, going the wrong way,” she said.

On Thursday afternoon, Biden was seen stumbling up the stairs of Air Force One as he prepared to depart the NATO summit. Video shows Biden tripping on one of the steps before catching himself at the top of the stairs and turning around and waving.

The trip comes even after Biden was relegated to using Air Force One’s shorter, lower-level staircase instead of its traditional cabin entrance. The switch to the shorter staircase seems to have occurred right after his public tumble at the Air Force Academy’s graduation in the beginning of June.
