Soros-Backed Michigan AG Targets Pro-Trump Alternate Electors

'Obviously this is part of a much bigger conspiracy...'

(Headline USA) After persecuting pro-Trump attorneys who dared challenge the Left’s corrupt election outcomes in the 2020 race, Michigan’s alcoholic attorney general now wants federal prosecutors to go after “fake” GOP electors.

Dana Nessel, a George Soros-backed lesbian leftist, asked the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into 16 Republicans who allegedly submitted false certificates stating they were the state’s presidential electors after the state certified the disputed results for Joe Biden, claiming a 154,000-vote victory.

“Under state law, I think clearly you have forgery of a public record, which is a 14-year offense, and election law forgery, which is a five-year offense,” she told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

Nessel’s latest scheme comes as Democrats see the their 2022 election prospects rapidly declining under a raft of failed policies and hope a pivot back to the pre-Biden era will offer sufficient cover to help carry them through.

The efforts to challenge the state’s Electoral College outcome largely were derailed in the wake of the Jan. 6 uprising, which forced members of Congress into hiding at an undisclosed bunker as pro-Trump dissidents briefly took over the US Capitol.

Many of the planned congressional challenges by GOP members were subsequently swept under the rug in the late-night certification.

It is not unprecedented for an alternate slate of electors to cast votes in an appeal to higher authorities.

When Michigan’s electors cast 16 votes for Biden in December 2020, a separate group that included some Republican state House members tried to enter the state Capitol with Donald Trump’s Electoral College candidates.

They were turned away by state police.

The electors, backed by Republicans in the state legislature, hoped to have their votes accepted by Congress in spite of the corrupt state leaders who ignored serious concerns over vote fraud in Detroit and several other major cities.

The move also hoped to allow legal challenges to the disputed outcome to work their way through the courts without becoming moot after the December meeting of the Electoral College.

“This would ensure that all of our legal remedies remain open,” Trump advisor Stephen Miller told Breitbart at the time.

The alternate electors’ certificates also were mailed to the U.S. Senate, Benson, and the federal court for western Michigan, according to a memo a GOP official wrote. Two Republicans did not sign the documents and were replaced.

On Jan. 8, 2021, the Office of the Federal Register—which coordinates certain functions of the Electoral College between states and Congress—notified Michigan’s elections director and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer‘s chief lawyer in an email that it received unofficial, signed certificates from GOP “electors” who had not been appointed by the Democratic governor.

Democrat Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson‘s office last month gave the email to a partisan U.S. House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol uprising.

Nessel disclosed Thursday that her office had been evaluating charges for nearly a year but decided to refer the matter to the U.S. attorney in western Michigan.

But the politicized US Justice Department, she said, is best suited to probe and potentially prosecute.

The U.S. attorney’s office didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment early Friday.

“Obviously this is part of a much bigger conspiracy,” Nessel claimed.
