(Headline USA) Rep. Adam Kinzinger, RINO-Ill., plans to launch a political training program after he leaves office to recruit political leaders who share his alleged “pro-freedom, pro-democracy” agenda.
Kinzinger, who is not running for reelection, has become a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump and has cozied up to Democrats in their efforts to impeach Trump and indict him for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol uprising. He’s one of two Republicans chosen to sit on the partisan Jan. 6 congressional committee.
After he leaves Congress, he wants to recruit and train political candidates who share his same goals, according to the Washington Examiner.
His new organization, the Country First PAC, plans to start a “Country First Academy” to put candidates on the ballot for local, state, and federal offices. A few of the program’s goals include educating “individuals interested in running for office or volunteering for election work, identifying and working “directly with potential candidates and election-worker volunteers, and building “free, comprehensive, and widely accessible nonpartisan resources and training to candidates once they have officially declared and election workers once they volunteer.”
“It’s time for a new generation of pro-freedom, pro-democracy leaders to step up and fight the toxic partisanship that has hobbled our institutions and turned neighbors against each other,” Zach Hunter, executive director of Country First, said in a statement.
Kinzinger has already begun to use his political influence to attack his own colleagues who aren’t anti-Trump enough. For example, he campaigned against former Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C., and celebrated his loss as “good for the country.”
