Joy Reid Compares Shooting Victim Steve Scalise to Ex-KKK Leader

‘I’m like David Duke without the baggage...'

(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Race-baiting MSNBC host Joy Reid on Tuesday claimed Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., a former victim of political violence, was no different than notorious white supremacist David Duke.

When discussing the possible candidates to replace Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., as the Republican choice for speaker of the House, Reid compared Scalise—who was shot by a Bernie Sanders supporter during a congressional baseball game—to Duke, the one-time Louisiana politician and grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

Reid attempted to justify this comparison with an out-of-context and unsourced quote, Breitbart reported.

“Longtime political reporter claims that when she first met Scalise—when David Duke was a state representative—and Scalise, who was from Louisiana as well, told her, ‘I’m like David Duke without the baggage,” Reid claimed.

Duke had a four-year unsuccessful stint in the state legislature from 1989 to 1993, according to Ballotpedia. He ran for governor of Louisiana in 1990, and was famously lost to corrupt incumbent Edwin Edwards, who used the slogan “Vote for the Lizard, Not the Wizard.”

In 2017, Scalise was shot and nearly killed for political reasons by a 66-year-old Bernie Sanders fanatic who volunteered for Sander’s presidential campaign, reported Yahoo.

Reid has a long history of making inflammatory and racist statements.

Among the more absurd examples:

  • She screeched that using the word “karen” is a racist appropriation of black culture.
  • She said wanting to see an LSAT score of a Judicial nominee was racist.
  • Reid argued that black children attending a Ron DeSantis rally were being abused because DeSantis is so “anti-black.”
She said that defending one’s property from looters is racist.
  • She defended her fellow racist, Tiffany Cross, when even MSNBC thought she had gone too far and fired her.
  • Reid reinterpreted Thanksgiving based on racial lines.
  • She argued that a not guilty verdict in a kidnapping case occurred because the accused were white.

Although her obsession with race and partisan attacks may have elevated her into the primetime spotlight, Reid’s career has also suffered from her endless race-baiting as her ratings have plummeted and rumors of her termination have swirled.
