(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) In a controversial ruling, the New York State Supreme Court found that former President Donald Trump had allegedly inflated the value of his properties, potentially placing the iconic Trump Tower in the hands of the radical state’s attorney general.
New York Attorney General Letitia James, who had made it her goal to prosecute Trump since her early campaign days, could soon cherry-pick whether to take $250 million from Trump or perhaps seize his properties, including his famous Manhattan penthouse, the New York Times reported on Thursday.
The pre-trial ruling, delivered by liberal Justice Arthur Engoron, marks the first time a case against Trump has gone to trial, and it has sparked allegations from several Republicans who claim that it’s part of a politically motivated witch hunt
The legal showdown began when James, as a Democrat candidate for attorney general, promised to take down Trump‘s businesses upon taking office. “I look forward to going into the office of attorney general every day, suing [Trump], defending your rights and then going home,” James pledged in a 2018 video.

Trump took to Truth Social to express his irritation against the pre-trial ruling. “The widespread attack against me, my family, and my supporters has devolved to new, un-American depths, at the hands of a DERANGED New York State Judge, doing the bidding of a completely biased and corrupt ‘Prosecutor,’ Letitia James,” Trump stated.
“This is Democrat Political Lawfare, and a Witch Hunt at a level never seen before. It is an attempt to badly injure the opposing Party’s Leading, by far, Political Candidate,” he added.
Trump’s legal team sought to delay the trial by filing an appeal against Justice Engoron, arguing that he had ignored an appeals court decision earlier in the case. These efforts, however, were rejected by a New York appeals court.
As reported by the Times, Justice Engoron has given the involved parties ten days to identify who will assume control of the Trump Organization’s businesses, placing nearly a dozen Trump properties in jeopardy.
