(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Last week, Trump attorney Sidney Powell entered a plea deal with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in the Georgia lawfare case accusing the former president and 18 others of a racketeering conspiracy.
And this week, another former Trump attorney, Jenna Ellis, joined Powell is taking a plea deal in exchange for her cooperation against Trump.
However, there’s at least one Trump attorney holding the line: John Eastman, who has not backed down from his allegations that there was widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential elections.
Eastman, who faces disbarment in California along with criminal charges in Georgia, told the California State Bar Court on Monday that he still believes the election may have been stolen.
“These are experts that have very serious concerns, and they’ve been raising them for a number of years on both sides of the political aisle,” Eastman said Monday, according to Bloomberg Law.
Eastman reportedly defended statements he made ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill protest, where he told MAGA supporters: “We know there was fraud, traditional fraud that occurred. We know that dead people voted.”
He noted, for example, that Michigan’s Office of the Auditor General determined that 1,616 votes, or 0.03% of the total ballots, came from dead people.
Such evidence “confirms my statement that dead people voted, that votes were cast on behalf of deceased individuals,” he said, according to Bloomberg Law.
Eastman reportedly spent much of the disbarment trial defending allegations that he helped incite the Jan. 6 riot with his remarks.
“I absolutely had no such intent,” Eastman reportedly said on direct examination.
“My intent here, as to all of my work on behalf of President Trump … was always to identify problems with the conduct of election and to try to investigate them and identify whether the problems and illegality may have affected the outcome of the election so that the actual will of the voters when all legal votes were cast was what decided the election, not illegality and illegal votes.”
