(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has come forward with an explosive revelation, alleging the existence of an audio recording that purportedly shows a Burisma executive discussing a $5 million bribery scheme with President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden.
During a speech on the Senate floor on Monday, Grassley stated that the Burisma executive kept the recording as an “insurance policy” for the potentially incriminating “pay-for-play” criminal scheme described in a now-infamous FD-1023 informant file.
In his speech, Grassley said, “The foreign national, who allegedly bribed Joe and Hunter Biden, allegedly has audio recordings of his conversations with him, 17 such recordings.”
Grassley also referred to the informant file, which alleges that “the foreign national possesses 15 audio recordings of phone calls between him and Hunter Biden.” According to Grassley, these recordings include “two audio recordings of phone calls between him and then Vice President Joe Biden.”
The Iowa senator added, “These recordings were allegedly kept as a sort of insurance policy for the foreign national in case he got into a tight spot.”
Grassley has attempted to obtain the release of the FD-1023 file through the subpoena power of his colleagues in the Republican-led House Oversight Committee. However, FBI Director Christopher Wray has said that making the potentially damning file could endanger the informant’s file.
During his Senate speech, Grassley torched the Department of Justice for not taking sufficient action to properly investigate the allegations in the file. He stated, “Based on the facts known to Congress and the public, it’s clear that the Justice Department and the FBI haven’t nearly had the laser focus on the Biden family.”
Grassley also highlighted the DOJ’s use of tape recordings against former President Donald Trump, questioning U.S. Attorney Weiss’s approach to the alleged Joe and Hunter Biden recordings, which Grassley called “relevant to the high-stakes bribery scheme.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., threatened to charge Wray with contempt of Congress due to his previous reluctance to release the informant file. Ultimately, Wray reached an agreement with Comer to allow all members of the House Oversight Committee to review the file in exchange for withdrawing the charges, which had not been filed.
Comer and Grassley first learned of the file from a whistleblower who raised the concerns about the DOJ’s failure to investigative the alleged multi-million dollar bribery scheme involving Biden during his time as vice president during the Obama administration.
Grassley maintains that the release of the file is crucial, stating, “Getting a full and complete 1023 is critical for the American people to know and understand the true nature of the document and to hold the FBI and the Justice Department accountable.”
