Fulton County Grand Jury Wanted to Indict Lindsey Graham

'Essentially, they wanted to indict anybody who happened to be breathing at the time... '

(Headline USAFulton County grand jury members wanted to indict Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., as one of the several defendants involved in their case against former President Donald Trump and his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, according to released documents.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ordered the partial release of the grand jury report, which resulted in the indictment of Trump and 18 other associates in a sweeping 41-count racketeering case.

The report shows the grand jury wanted to charge even more of Trump’s allies, including three U.S. senators: former Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, as well as Graham.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis ultimately did not pursue the cases against Perdue, Loeffler and Graham, and did not file all of the recommended charges against Trump.

“Essentially, they wanted to indict anybody who happened to be breathing at the time. It totally undermines the credibility of the findings, and badly hurts the Great State of Georgia, whose wonderful and patriotic people are not happy with this charade,” Trump said in response to the report.

For his part, Graham said on Friday that he was “totally surprised” to learn he was a part of the Fulton County investigation.

“It’s over for me,” Graham said. “I never suggested anybody set aside the election. I never said, ‘Go find votes.’ I never said anything other than trying to find how the mail-in balloting system worked. The next election, if I have questions, I’ll do the same thing.”

Graham argued his concerns were “consistent with my job as being a U.S. senator” and “chair of the Judiciary Committee.”

“I think the system in this country is getting off the rails, and we have to be careful not to use the legal system as a political tool,” he added.
