(Robert Jonathan, Headline USA) In leaked footage, the former chief the U.S. Capitol Police reportedly raised the possibility of a cover-up in connection with the riotous events of January 6, 2021.
Raheem Kassam’s National Pulse apparently gained exclusive access to the never-released Tucker Carlson hour-long sit-down with the veteran lawman, Steven Sund, that was originally set to be posted on Fox Nation, FNC’s streaming service.
The shelved conversation with the retired chief obviously took place before Fox News abruptly parted ways with its top-rated anchor.
According to editor-in-chief Kassam, “The full interview has thus far been hidden from the public at the behest of Rupert Murdoch’s increasingly left-wing Fox News channel.”
In a related development, the legal team representing former President Donald Trump is reportedly seeking to obtain the full interview from Fox by way of a subpoena, which Fox attorneys are resisting.
In a summary about said interview, Kassam wrote that “Sund laments the behaviors of then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as well as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, who he says had intelligence to suggest problems on Capitol Hill, which they failed to communicate with Sund and his cops on the ground.”
Describing himself as “a little pissed off,” about the situation because of criticism that came his way, Sund told Carlson that “If I was allowed to do my job as the chief, we wouldn’t be here. This didn’t have to happen.”
The chaos at the Capitol could have been avoided with proper intelligence sharing, he implied.
“Everything appears to be a cover up,” Sund continued in an available video clip.
“Like I said, I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but when you look at the information and intelligence they had, the military had, it’s all watered down. I’m not getting intelligence, I’m denied any support from National Guard in advance. I’m denied National Guard while we’re under attack, for 71 minutes…,” Sund added in the colloquy with Carlson.
Carlson then chimed in that it seemed like officials were hiding intelligence rather than just not sharing it.
“And that’s what I’m getting at,” Sund responded. “Could there possibly be actually… they kind of wanted something to happen? It’s not a far stretch to begin to think that.
“It’s sad when you start putting everything together and thinking about the way this played out…what was their end goal?”
Although Fox Nation offers a lot of content to subscribers, the long-form interviews on Tucker Carlson Today was its main calling card.
Critics have asserted that if J6 Committee really was interested in getting to the bottom of what happened, rather than engaging in partisan, anti-Trump theater, a reasonable first question might have been as follows:
Why did the House sergeant-at-arms, a Pelosi subordinate, allegedly deny the-then Capitol police chief’s repeated requests for National Guard backup when everyone knew a huge protest was coming? They also could have probed into how many, if any, alleged instigators were at the protest, but the Hollywood-produced J6 Tribunal TV was more focused on nailing Trump.
Carlson recently mentioned to podcaster Russell Brand that Sund told him that “that crowd was filled with federal agents. He would know, of course, because he was in charge of security at the site.”
Carlson intends to re-interview Chief Sund that will likely air on Tucker on Twitter or perhaps another platform.
On Thursday, the National Pulse released another segment of the never-aired interview in which Sund reportedly made reference to Ray Epps.
