(Chris Parker, Headline USA) After years of coverups from the federal government and mainstream media, Hunter Biden may finally face charges on several fronts and for a variety of misdeeds.
The charges being considered by federal prosecutors include tax evasion, foreign lobbying and giving false statements to officials, reported Fox News.
Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss is leading the investigation and says that it has reached a “critical stage.”
Attempts by federal agencies, particularly the FBI, have been underway for years to protect Hunter Biden from justice.
“I should say that when I read the letter that describes the kinds of things that you’re talking about, I found it deeply troubling,” FBI Director Christopher Wray dodged in August when presented with damning information about his agency.
Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc.,expressed doubts on the FBI’s ability to properly investigate Hunter Biden and even went as far as to call out Wray.
“I have no faith in [FBI Director] Christopher Wray of conducting this investigation, but it’s important that the American public understand the FBI had Hunter Biden’s laptop in December of 2019,” Johnson told Fox News.
Last month, house Republicans followed up on those concerns with a resolution seeking to release “suspicious” documents related to Hunter’s business dealings.
“We’ve repeatedly called on Biden’s Treasury Department to provide answers, but they are stonewalling congressional oversight,” said House Oversight Committee Ranking Republican Rep. James Comer of Kentucky.
A former senior Justice Department official told Fox News that “a disposition, or resolution, may be ‘imminent’ in advance of a possible Republican takeover of the House of Representatives.”
Many congressional Republicans have already promised to subpoena Hunter Biden if their party regains control. His false statement charge would stem from a former gun purchase. He denied using illegal substances on a legal form required to purchase the firearm.
Strong evidence has since surfaced that he was using multiple drugs. However, no final decisions have been made.
