DOJ Plans to Sue to Make Illegal Immigration Easier

'Texas has the sovereign authority to defend our border, under the U.S. Constitution and the Texas Constitution...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) The Biden DOJ has announced its plan to file a lawsuit against the Texas government to challenge its efforts to control the rampant flow of illegal immigration into the country.

The DOJ claims that Texas’s new actions to curb unlawful border crossings, including the placement of floating buoy barriers in the Rio Grande, violate federal law and would worsen the already bad humanitarian situation on the southern border.

“The State of Texas’s actions violate federal law, raise humanitarian concerns, present serious risks to public safety and the environment, and may interfere with the federal government’s ability to carry out its official duties,” the DOJ wrote in a letter to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The letter, written by Assistant Attorney General Todd Kimm and Jaime Esparza, United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas, warned that the federal government could take immediate action.

“This floating barrier poses a risk to navigation, as well as public safety, in the Rio Grande River, and it presents humanitarian concerns,” the federal officials claimed. “Thus, we intend to seek appropriate legal remedies, which may include seeking injunctive relief requiring the removal of obstructions or other structures in the Rio Grande River.”

The Texas government pushed back against the Biden administration’s threats, arguing that the measures were needed.

“Texas has the sovereign authority to defend our border, under the U.S. Constitution and the Texas Constitution,” said Abbott in a fiery tweet on Friday. “We have sent the Biden Administration numerous letters detailing our authority, including the one I hand-delivered to President Biden earlier this year.”

Abbot further torched the Biden administration for allegedly inflicting the current border crisis. “The tragic humanitarian crisis on the border was created because of Biden’s refusal to secure the border,” Abott added. “His open border policies encourage migrants to risk their lives crossing illegally through the Rio Grande, instead of safely and legally over a bridge.”
