Dems Using Highland Park Mass Shooting for Political Gain

'Where is it safe to take our children? Can we send them to school? ... '

(Preston Parra, Headline USA) Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., said in an interview this week with MSNBC that he fully believes “military assault weapons, capable of shredding the bodies of the victims” have nothing to do with 2nd Amendment rights.

This incendiary anti-gun rhetoric comes on the heels of the tragic Highland Park shooting in Chicago on July 4, which politicians on the Left quickly used for political capital, reported Breitbart.

Durbin went on later in the interview to ask if parents should even be able to feel safe sending kids out in public, asking, “Where is it safe to take our children? Can we send them to school? Can we take them to the theater? Can we send them to a concert? Can we send them to a grocery store?”

Durbin’s latest attempt to pander to gun-fearing leftists didn’t come alone. President Biden chimed in about the shooting, saying, “Jill and I are shocked by the senseless gun violence that has yet again brought grief to an American community on this Independence Day.”

He said, “I’m not going to give up fighting the epidemic of gun violence.”

A ballooning numbers of Democrats, however, are demanding more from Biden, reported Politico.

The article contrasted Biden to Illinois’ Democrat governor, noting that while “Pritzker demanded that people make politics of the moment — as grisly as it may be — the president initially made just passing reference to the shooting.”

Some say they’re “furious” with Biden’s lack of energy regarding gun reform; however, many more are furious with Biden’s overall lack of energy. It would appear that those leading on the Left are pushing it further Left, even though the populous seems to be moving more to the political middle.

Mirroring dissatisfaction with party leaders, Republicans are frustrated with Sen. John Cornyn, Rep. Liz Cheney and many others for their lack of 2nd Amendment defense.

It seems both parties have one thing in common; they are equally fed up with the lack of passion enacted on their elected leaders’ behalf.
