Dems Upset w/ Biden for Not Doing Enough to Save ‘Roe’

'The Titanic is sinking, and the band is still playing... '

(Headline USA) Democrats are reportedly angry with the Biden White House for not doing enough to combat the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.

A New York Times article revealed this week that a number of party strategists and leaders blasted President Joe Biden for his “painfully inadequate” response to the court’s decision last week. One strategist said it did not seem “like there was a game plan,” even after a leaked draft opinion of the court’s decision revealed that the overturning of Roe was a likely outcome.

“This is one of those moments where the people in power have to do more than the people who are voting for them,” said Rebecca Katz, a Democrat operative who works with leftist candidates.

David Atkins, a Democratic National Committee member, agreed.

“Leadership had a long time to know this was coming and to prepare something more than outrage from a podium and fundraising appeals,” he said. “There needs to be more fight.”

Biden isn’t the only Democrat leader with whom the party is upset. Operatives also slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other House Democrats for responding to the Supreme Court’s decision by singing “God Bless America” on the steps of the U.S. Capitol building.

“That moment crystallized it perfectly,” said one Democrat strategist. “The Titanic is sinking, and the band is still playing.”

Progressive members of the party, such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., want Biden and the rest of Democrat leadership to adopt aggressive tactics, including expanding the Supreme Court, abolishing the Senate’s filibuster and establishing abortion clinics on federal lands.

Pelosi has agreed that Democrats should try to overhaul the filibuster, as has Biden, but both have refrained from endorsing some of the Left’s more radical ideas, such as court-packing.
