(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) CNN once again went after conservatives, this time accusing Republican congressional candidate of “having ties to white nationalists.”
An article titled “GOP congressional candidate Joe Kent’s ties to white nationalists include interview with Naxi sympathizer” was featured in a CNN newsletter, and reported that Washington Republican House candidate Joe Kent was interviewed by a blogger with a history of anti-Semitic remarks.
According to The Daily Wire, the outlet also mentioned in the article that Kent had no clue who the man was, as it was a man-on-the-street style interview.
“GOP congressional candidate Joe Kent gave a previously unreported interview in June to a Nazi sympathizer and White nationalist, despite disavowing White nationalism last spring when one of its adherents endorsed him,” CNN reporter Em Steck wrote in a Twitter thread.
The individual was photographed at a Kent campaign event, and the interview was posted in the CNN article.
However, the article also featured comments from Kent campaign spokesman Matt Braynard, who mentioned to the outlet that the interviewer approached Kent on the street and simply requested an interview.
Braynard published the campaign’s full comment on Twitter, making it clear that Kent did not know who the person was and was cooperating with the man as he seemed like a “citizen journalist.”
Democrat Activist @cnn‘s @KFILE are trying to smear war hero @joekent16jan19 as a “white nationalist” because he…. talked to a stranger on the sidewalk.
Their email and our response.
Will they investigate @MGPforCongress for providing materiel support for ANTIFA? Nah…. pic.twitter.com/Qj0nMSB1Ul

Kent also responded to CNN’s article via Twitter from his personal account.
I fought for our nation for over 20 yrs w/ Americans of every race & would gladly do so again.
White nationalists sided w/ my opponents & spent money against me in the primary.
I’m proud to be viewed as a threat by white nationalists, antifa, democrats & @CNN. https://t.co/YSUzm3hmf2
