(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign has been taken over by a veteran of an agency said to have been responsible for the assassination of his uncle, President John F. Kennedy.
The Kennedy campaign announced Friday that RFK’s daughter-in-law, former CIA employee Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, replaced former congressman Dennis Kucinich.
“Amaryllis is a woman of extraordinary intelligence and drive who, I am confident, will take this campaign to the next level,” Kennedy said in a statement.
Fox Kennedy reportedly claims to have worked as an undercover operative for the CIA, where she was assigned to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists.
But in an article on Monday, national security blog SpyTalk called into question many of Fox Kennedy’s claims about her career.
“I do know that the memoir was grossly exaggerated,” James Lawler, a CIA ops officer who is credited with taking down Pakistani scientist A.Q. Khan’s nuclear black market, told SpyTalk.
CIA veteran Robert Baer reportedly added that Kennedy Fox’s memoir was “a Joycean dream world.”
SpyTalk added that Kennedy Fox’s memoir, Life Undercover, wasn’t approved by the CIA for publication. But “oddly,” she wasn’t taken to court over the matter, the blog noted.
“Was the book so riddled with fiction that the CIA just threw up its hands? Was her entire CIA career made up? Did the agency drop the ball?” SpyTalk asked.
SpyTalk also reported that Kennedy Fox was represented by anti-Trump attorney Mark Zaid, who has worked on a wide variety of politically charged matters, including the first Trump impeachment.
Zaid’s clients have included Facebook’s dubious pro-censorship whistleblower, Frances Haugen; the brother of impeacher-turned-war-profiteer Alexander Vindman; and a slew of CIA agents who’ve made numerous unfounded claims about having so-called “Havana Syndrome.”
Zaid reportedly told SpyTalk that Kennedy Fox indeed worked for the CIA, but attorney–client privacy limited him from saying anything further.
The CIA reportedly did not respond to a message left seeking comment.
Meanwhile, Kucinich’s departure reportedly took the Kennedy campaign by surprise.
Kucinich declined to comment on his reason for leaving, but it should be noted that he differed with Kennedy drastically when it came to the Israel–Hamas conflict.
Kennedy has voiced full-throated support for Israel, while Kucinich has historically opposed pro-Zionist policies.
