Christina Pushaw Urges Floridians to Keep Desantis Checks: “They’re Real”

"By contrast, the budget surplus in Florida is at the state level and it’s already money in existence, we do not print money here. So- no, it doesn’t cause inflation..."

(Chris ParkerHeadline USA) The state of Florida is issuing checks to families with children in light of massive inflation, reports WESH.

Florida Press Secretary Christina Pushaw tweeted a photo of the letters getting sent while reassuring that “these letters are real.” Checks will be sent to over 60,000 families in the amount of $450 per household child.

Pushaw went on to discuss the reason for the checks in light of conservative criticism over federal stimulus checks. “The federal government causes inflation by deficit spending. Stimulus checks were part of that,” she tweeted. “By contrast, the budget surplus in Florida is at the state level and it’s already money in existence, we do not print money here. So- no, it doesn’t cause inflation.”

That was also the reason that the state decided not to call the payouts “stimulus checks.”

Pushaw’s reassurance comes in light of the BBB warning Americans about scammers who are taking advantage of inflation panic. Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis said the money can be used for “whatever they need to make their kids successful.” The funds are available for foster parents, adoptive parents, and single mothers.

The payments were sent as part of Hope Florida, a program that aims to connect business leaders, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits with government agencies to “help individuals realize economic self-sufficiency and prosperity.” Hope Florida is a divisions of Florida’s Department of Children and Families.

Tampa nonprofits “A Life New Warehouse” and “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” also received $5,000 donations as part of the initiative.

In the letter included with the checks, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis also reminded families of the state’s “Back-to-School sales-tax holiday, which will take place from July 25 through August 7, to help you get the supplies you need to prepare for the upcoming school year. Supplies that will be tax-free during this time include clothing, bags, computers, shoes and other school supplies.”
