(Ken Silva, Headline USA) With the Biden administration’s proxy war in Ukraine in full swing and military deployment to the Middle East seemingly imminent, the Defense Department is insisting that it could start and win yet another war with China.
Pentagon officials made the case for a three-theater war earlier this week in a press conference, denouncing the “unsafe…unprofessional… corrosive and risky” encounters between Chinese and American aircraft over the past two years.
When asked how the U.S. can counter China while devoting so many resources towards Ukraine and Israel, Admiral John C. Aquilino responded by insisting that it wouldn’t be a problem.
“What I’ll tell you is I haven’t had one piece of equipment or force structure depart. The U.S. is a global power, and that means we can deliver effects and execute our deterrence responsibilities across the globe, but I don’t think any other nation can do that at this time, but the US can,” he explained.
“INDOPACOM prepares every day to ensure we execute both of the missions the Secretary gave me. Number one, to prevent conflict in the Indo-Pacific; and number two, if mission one fails, be prepared to fight and win.”
Pentagon official Ely Ratner further said that the White House has had a “banner year” in building up its military alliances in the Asia Pacific region.
“We have been developing a more mobile distributed lethal and resilient force posture in the Indo-Pacific,” he said.
As noted by the Libertarian Institute’s Kyle Anzalone, encounters between the Chinese and American militaries have increased in recent years the South China Sea and Taiwan Strait, which Beijing considers to be Chinese territory.
The Pentagon officials’ comments are similar to remarks by President Joe Biden this week.
“We’re the United States of America, for God’s sake, the most powerful nation … in the history of the world,” he said in a 60 Minutes interview.
Biden delivered a speech from the Oval Office on Thursday night, making his case for the U.S. continuing to fund the proxy war in Ukraine and Israel’s campaign against Hamas.
The Biden administration reportedly looks to support both Ukraine and Israel—as well as Taiwain. The Washington Post first reported last week that the White House planned to link aid for the three countries in an effort to “jam the far right”—forcing MAGA Republicans to choose between fiscal responsibility and supporting ostensible allies.
