(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is not satisfied with the alleged gun-reform bill recently announced by a bipartisan group of senators, and her main concern focused not on how to prevent children from being murdered, but on white supremacy and misogyny.
The gun bill’s framework includes funding for “red flag laws“, increased safety measures at schools, expanded background checks into juvenile records for gun purchases, mental health services and increased gun-related criminalization, reported Blaze Media
Ocasio-Cortez claimed that the “focus on increased criminalization and juvenile criminalization, instead of having the focus on guns” is racist.
“After columbine, we hired thousands of police officers into schools and while it didn’t prevent many of the mass shootings that we’ve seen now, it has increased the criminalization of teens in communities like mine.” 2/2

“After columbine, we hired thousands of police officers into schools and while it didn’t prevent many of the mass shootings that we’ve seen now, it has increased the criminalization of teens in communities like mine,” she said to Eric Michael Garcia, a columnist for MSNBC.
It is unclear whether the teenagers that she’s referring to were committing crimes while in view of law enforcement.
She continued, decrying the mental health focus as problematic because “what people are blaming on mental health are really deeper issues of violent misogyny and white supremacy.”
When I asked if she was worried if the mental health aspects would increase stigmatization, she said “absolutely. Because what people are blaming on mental health are really deeper issues of violent misogyny and white supremacy. And while there are mental health issues..”3/

Stu Burguiere was not surprised by AOC’s take:
“A bipartisan gun control legislation that could open up future doors for even more authoritarian manipulation by the left and this woman still has to screech ‘racism’ to high heaven,” he said.
“I swear her commitment to the bit at this point is almost inspiring. If we’ve learned anything, it’s that everything is racist.”
