(Headline USA) A 29-year-old man who identifies as a woman beat a 13-year-old girl in a skateboarding contest in New York City this weekend, the latest transgender travesty to hit the sporting world.
Ricci Tres, from Los Angeles, was allowed to compete in the women’s division of the Boardr Open street skateboarding contest this weekend, and ended up winning the title and a $500 prize. Thirteen-year-old Shiloh Catori, from Florida, came in second place and won $250.

Tres was the oldest contestant, and is ranked 838 overall in the Boardr Global Rankings. Catori, on the other hand, is ranked at the 133rd spot.
This isn’t the first time a man has crushed the female competition in a skateboarding contest. Last month, professional female skateboard Taylor Silverman lost to a man who identified as a woman, Lilian Gallagher, in the Red Bull Cornerstone event.
“My story is not unique in skateboarding,” Silverman said.
“I deserved to place first, be acknowledged for my win, and get paid. I reached out to Redbull and was ignored. I am sick of being bullied into silence.”
The issue of transgender participation in women’s sports has come under scrutiny in recent months following Lia Thomas‘s victory at the NCAA women’s swimming championships. Thomas is a male who identifies as a woman and was allowed to compete on the University of Pennsylvania’s female swimming team.
He won one of the events, displacing multiple female swimmers who would have been able to advance in the competition otherwise.
In response to the uproar that followed, the governing body of world swimming passed a rule banning transgender athletes who did not “physically transition” before puberty from competing in elite women’s events. This means Thomas will not be allowed to compete in the U.S. Olympics as a female.
