(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson made his much-anticipated return Tuesday, releasing a show on Twitter that covered the recent destruction of the Nova Kakhovka Dam in southern Ukraine.
Carlson’s report comes as Ukraine and Russia are accusing each other of destroying the dam, which was constructed as a hydroelectric power plant and created the Kakhovka Reservoir. Carlson scoffed at the slew of Western media reports fingering Russian President Vladimir Putin as the likely culprit behing the attack.
“Blowing up the dam might be bad for Ukraine, but it hurts Russia more,” Carlson said.
“Any fair person would conclude that the Ukrainians probably blew it up, just as you’d assume they blew up Nord Stream … and in fact, the Ukrainians did do that, as we now know.”
Indeed, as noted by antiwar.com’s Dave DeCamp, the dam was built by the USSR during the 1950s. It provides water to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the Crimean Peninsula, which has been home to Russia’s navy for more than a century.
“The attack on the dam will impact a core Russian concern in Ukraine. Through the 250-mile-long Northern Crimean Canal, the Kakhovka Reservoir feeds water to the peninsula that Moscow annexed in 2014,” DeCamp wrote in his analysis of the attack this morning.
Carlson also cited a December report from the Washington Post, which quoted Ukrainian Maj. Gen. Andriy Kovalchuk, who said he considered attacking the dam during Ukraine’s counteroffensive last year.
“Kovalchuk considered flooding the river.” The Post reported at the time. “The Ukrainians, he said, even conducted a test strike with a HIMARS launcher on one of the floodgates at the Nova Kakhovka dam, making three holes in the metal to see if the Dnieper’s water could be raised enough to stymie Russian crossings but not flood nearby villages. The test was a success, Kovalchuk said.”
Carlson lamented the fact that Americans are the most heavily propagandized population in the world—much as the Russians were during the reign of the Soviet empire.
“It’s not like Putin is anxious to wage war on himself … Oh but that’s where you’re wrong!” he said, mocking the message coming from other media outlets. “Vladimir is the sort of man to shoot himself to death in order to annoy you!”
However, Carlson then promoted another dubious story—about a purported Pentagon whistleblower’s claims that the U.S. government is in possession of alien UFO technology.
“There was nothing at all [in the mainstream media] about how an alien species is flying hypersonic aircraft over our cities—not one word,” Carlson said.
“So if you’re wondering why our country seems so dysfunctional, this is a big part of the reason.”
Carlson ended his first episode by saying he’ll be reporting on Twitter so long as it remains a free-speech platform.
