White House Claims Shipping Migrants to Sanctuary Cities Endangers Their Lives

'It takes a special kind of stupid to say something this self-evidently absurd...'

(Headline USA) White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said this week that busing migrants to self-proclaimed “sanctuary cities” endangered their lives.

Asked about Republican leaders shipping busloads of migrants to places like New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C. on Monday, Jean–Pierre condemned the efforts, calling them “dangerous,” without evidence.

“I’ve said it many times from here repeatedly from this podium that bussing or flying migrants around the country without any coordination with the federal government—we’ve talked about this, state or local officials as well—is dangerous and unacceptable,” she claimed.

“We will continue to be very, very clear about that,” she continued. “It is dangerous and unacceptable, because you’re putting people’s lives at risk.”

When asked what she meant by “dangerous and unacceptable,” Jean–Pierre said that it’s “because you’re actually putting a lot of pressure on these states and local areas.”

Conservatives pointed out that it’s also “dangerous and unacceptable” to expect resource-constrained border towns to be able to provide for tens of thousands of migrants on their own every month.

“It takes a special kind of stupid to say something this self-evidently absurd—as if having 6 million illegal migrants in a few states along the border doesn’t put a lot of pressure and stress upon those states and local areas,” tweeted George Landfrith, president of Frontiers of Freedom.

Rep. Mike Ezell, R-Miss., agreed:

Jean-Pierre’s comments follow reports that 16 migrants had been shipped to California from Florida via a private plane.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta claimed the “vulnerable immigrants” were the victims of “state-sanctioned kidnapping” and threatened to pursue criminal charges against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis after accusing the GOP presidential candidate of coordinating the shipment.

“While we continue to collect evidence, I want to say this very clearly: State-sanctioned kidnapping is not a public policy choice, it is immoral and disgusting,” Bonta said.

“We are a nation built by immigrants and we must condemn the cruelty and hateful rhetoric of those, whether they are state leaders or private parties, who refuse to recognize humanity and who turn their backs on extending dignity and care to fellow human beings,” he added.

The Biden administration has itself undertaken regular midnight flights transferring illegal immigrants to parts unknown, both in blue sanctuary states and in red states where they are less well received.

After warning the Democrat administration against violating state sovereignty by refusing to enforce federal immigration laws, DeSantis and several other conservative governors began sending small shipments of migrants to affluent blue enclaves such as Martha’s Vineyard and the Washington, D.C. mansion of border czar Kamala Harris.

Meanwhile, the mayors of Chicago and New York City have proceeded to export their own migrants into neighboring suburbs, oftentimes without notifying the local officials.
