The governments of Washington state, King County and Seattle were sued for more than $3 billion in damages because they allowed a “state of lawlessness” in the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone that led to a man’s death, Fox News reported.
Horace Lorenzo Anderson Sr., 50, the father of a 19-year-old man who died on June 20 in the police no-go zone, filed the lawsuit on Wednesday, The New York Post reported.
A 33-year-old man was also injured during the same shooting.
“I just want to see justice for my son,” Horace said, according to the New York Post. “Somebody has to be held responsible. Something is not right and my son should still be alive to this day.”
In the lawsuit, Horace said his son Lorenzo, “laid bleeding to death in the Seattle streets” and no medical services came to his aid.
“He didn’t have help. He needed help,” Horace said to The Post. “He needed me and I wasn’t there for him.”
First responders took 20 minutes to arrive at the scene of the shooting, after Lorenzo had already been taken to the hospital.
“With no assistance or rescue from Seattle first responders, Lorenzo died in agony from his wounds,” said Horace’s lawsuit, which was filed by lawyer Evan Oshan.
The lawsuit said the failure of emergency responders was only the symptom of the city’s decision to allow “politically charged armed, anarchist protesters to infiltrate, takeover, and govern a part of downtown Seattle.”
Then, neither King County nor Washington stepped in to end the chaos.
“Everyone was walking around with guns. It’s like the wild wild west,” Horace said.
“You figure the police come in and they shut it down and clean up the area,” he said. “I never knew that people could come in and take over a whole city. That means there is no safety. The police aren’t doing their job.”
