University Dials Back Prior Calls for ‘Neopronouns,’ ‘Emojiself’ and ‘Catgender’ Terms

'Universities should be promoting academic excellence not cat-gender fantasies... '

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Bristol University in England has walked back after previously encouraging staff to use “neopronouns,” Summit news reported.

The London university told their employees that using terms such as “emojiself” or “catgender” are totally acceptable in a professional environment.

Pronouns for “catgender” people are “nya” or “nyan,” according to informational materials provided by the college.

The material sent by the university also delved deeper into how the “emojiself” identification means people just like to identify with emojis.

The links to the material were removed after public agreement that this was insane and disturbing behavoir. A statement was issued by the university, claiming that the situation was misrepresented by the news outlets reporting the story:

“We have a guide on our website which is designed to help people understand the different variations and nuances that this covers,” the announcement read.

“This linked to an external LGBTA Wiki page with further information, which in turn links to a separate page on catgender.”

“These external links are not official university guidance and we are disappointed that it has been reported as such. With this in mind, we have now removed this link and apologize for the confusion caused.”

People on Twitter were less than enthused:
